I disagree with you SilverLance. While it could be interesting to you to see more damage for less MP,I would make it where it does less damage for more MP.THAT would be interesting,it would make spamming Ultima seem useless. And I know a lot of people who do that.

Go to WWW.Gamefaqs.com,type Final Fantasy III in the search bar,and it will say something about Final Fantasy III for the DS.Why it doesn't have any guides or anything is obvious-IT ISN'T OUT YET!!!

Espers, even whe you first get them, are worthless. The only significance they have is to learn new abiliites, otherwise they would be a complete waste of time.

I've never done a lotta summoning in any FF. I believe the only games I ever did use summons more than sparingly (if at all) are IV, Tactics and X, the latter due to those required "summoner battles". Thus, I've only used them in this game for the same purpose as in the FF's I didn't list: to see the animations if I'm in the mood for some eye candy.

I use some of them, usually up until I get the better spells from them. Such as Shiva and Bismark in the burning house, Phantom against the Pugs aka Tonberrys
and when I'm not using the Moogle Charm, Bahamut, in the Magic Tower. -------------------- Life is not a practice, always play to win. I buried Ponce. |

Espers would be better if the following was implemented
Status-Causing Espers have less MP cost, more than one status-infliction but have an 100% chance of effecting the target Damage-Causing Espers have more (yes, more) MP Cost yet much more damage and may break the damage limit comments or suggestions are appreicated -------------------- Its not denial. I don't realy use espers to attack. I mainly use then for support like Golen Palidor and Zoneseek. Some times I will use Alexander though. other then that their a wast of mana.

Yes, I use all sorts of espers at different points in the game.
Early in the game, stray is useful when you don't have edgar in your party. Using maduin/shiva/ifrit does equivalent damage to a level 2 spell. Shoat is like using break on a whole enemy party, which is useful. Phantom really helps when your facing an enemy with brute strength. Later in the game, ragnarok is useful for morphing items, Golem helps during almost any boss fight. Bahamut does the most damage out of most espers. One of my personal favorites, though, is Odin/raiden. -------------------- Ff7 current game progress:Just finished the underwater reactor, on to rocket town! |

Well, I do... And I don't. What I mean is, every time I get a new esper, or if I'm getting bored while leveling up, I'll summon an esper, just because often the animations are pretty awsome. Thing is, I generaly forget about them when it comes time for a boss battle, and thus, they really don't factor into my gaming strategy very much.

I rarely use Espers to attack. Usually I use them as a sort of last ditch effort to defeat a boss. Otherwise, I just use them to learn magic.

I'll use espers like Pheonix and Starlet early in the WoR because most characters are just learning Cure 2 and they maybe have Life... maybe. Pheonix is actually kind of useful - life on the whole party.
Espers do have abilities that are otherwise impossible to harness using simple spells. Actually, this makes me want to go and find out if the mana cost is actually balanced or not now >_> cuz in some cases I think it could possibly be more than balanced. ![]() -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. Who need the Espers skills when you can learn far better Spells from them.
This is the ultimate Combo (although don't read it if you don't want to make the game cruely easy) Possible spoilers: highlight to view Vanish and then X-Zone And the is the cheapest combo in Final Fantasy VI, if you have that who needs Espers for their own Skills. You only need the skills you learn from them. -------------------- - The problem isn't relgion, the problem is religious tolerance - |

Of course.
Palidor is great, it's like the spirit of Kain enters into the whole party. The enemies look like idiots attacking air, while y'all fly above, aiming to fall down weapon-first on the unsuspecting foes! Golem rocks for shielding the party quite well from most physical attacks. (and by the way, being an MP conservative can hurt the fun value of a game) I used Kirin and Starlet all the time for mass heals. Phantom especially for a party-wide invisible (a must against the titan on floating island!) Maduin good all around magic damage, gotta love the tri elemental, Tritoch the stronger version. Zoneseek for mass shell, Carbuncle for mass wall - how can you spite Espers!? -------------------- An Eternity To Man Is But A Moment To God |

I only use Espers mostly to teach my people new spells. Or if I'm using an Esper that cures me or cast Reflect on my party.... chances are I may use it.

I never really use Espers to attack. I did on my first playthrough, manly to see what they look like, but basically, I just use them to teach my characters new spells or to increase their stats at level ups.
I guess some of them are usefull, but I can do just as well without them ^^. |

Oh, my. Looks like I broke the tie. This is almost as bad as the "Ninja vs. Pirates" debates.
Um, I used Espers as summons quite frequently back in the day. Less so now, but the Big Three (Ramuh, Shiva, Ifrit) can be very helpful at their point in the game. P.S.) Mana? I don't want a Rangers51 smackdown, but I truly hope we're not calling it that now. Next it's gonna be "majick." -------------------- Some ghost of me might greet my son the day he is delivered.
