(Ok, I wanted to make a topic that was a little more interesting than Favorite Town, Favorite this, Favorite that, Favorite etc.)
Ok, when you played FF6, what did you do for your character's names? Did you leave them the original all caps names as it is default; did you change everyone's name to how it is proper (IE: Terra, Locke); or did you come up with your own creative names? If the latter, what were some of your most interesting names ever made? For me, when I started playing, I always changed the character's names to names of my friends, and I would usually be Edgar or Sabin. But most of the time I changed their names to the proper ones. |

You gotta go with the ALL CAPS way. Original is the best.
Anyway, I usually kept the names the same, except a couple times I changed stuff to like Tina from the Japanese version and Tarzan for Gau. I'm not too creative. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

I keep them all in caps, I usually put locke as my name, cause
out of all the characters in that game i look like him the most. and i put my sister's name in for Relm, cause their both the same age and like to paint! ![]() and I name GOGO, MUZZY, jus cause it looks funny when you look at the name and status protrait when your in the menu. Â ![]() Other then that everyone else is just thier regular names.. EDIT: another thing ive done, in FF7 I put redXIII as nanaki and when you get to cosmo canyon the guy there would say "Nanaki is Nanaki!" -------------------- Why do kamakazi pilots wear helmets? |

I usually just leave it in CAPS.
But sometimes you come to a character like Cait Sith, and I call him 'Fatrator' or something of a similar nature. (It's Fat Traitor, shortened.) I like Reeve. but not Cait Sith...I know it's not FF6, but...quiet! -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Hmm...Muzzy eh? BLAH
I have once renamed to these people in my life, Terra=sister Edgar=My older brother Sabin=me.. Gau=Danny hmm...that is all i can remember and i also renamed RedXII to Tiger, since in the storyline It would make more sense if i changed it to a nickname, cause i doubt people would like to use a name like that... -------------------- stupid horoscope wrong again |

It depends, by some strange reason I tend to change the first charachers name, but leave the rest. I change LOCKE into LOKE, and I usually leave the caps on.

I usually keep all of the characters' names as the all-caps originals, but sometimes I like to get a little creative. Once in a while I name characters from TV shows or anime which I like, particularly if their personalities match.
Another thing I've done is to name all of the characters STUPID, if only for the fleeting satisfaction of hearing Locke say "I'm with STUPID!" ![]() -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. heheh, thats funny SM. Umm i come up with my own name for the characters. except for a few chars with cool names like Shadow.
Sabin-Hawk, it may seem uncreative due to my name but my dad always named his favorite char hawk, and sabin was always hawk for him too. Terra-Terry, not too creative... Edgar-Xero, could be hero, could be zero... Gogo-Kain, i always make him a dragoon Umaro-Krunk,Krumb,Or Krunch, i dunno these names just kinda fit him I always named Red XII RedX cuz it sounded cool -------------------- This one time I punched a bear in the forehead TO DEATH! I always used the original names of the chracters. The atmosphere wouldn't be there If I named them something else.

hmmmm.... I was creative.
The strangest (most origional) would be whan I named 'em after drugs. Â The strangest one there musta been Relm named "Methy" and Strago as "Crack" |

i used to do it proper cuz it looked nicer, but its annoying to waste time on it, and its easier in caps cuz you automatically see when a different person is talking.

In VI I just changed them all into my friend's names, nothing too creative. VII was the one where it was funny to change them all:

I ALWAYS rename my chars. Either as people I know and usually - like (Terra = Tsumi), or as I please. (Edgar = Roy) OR as chars from other games I Â played (Cyan = Gordon). Get the pint?

I change the capital names into proper grammar, because ALL CAPS IS ANNOYING. I hardly ever, IF EVER, name my characters names other than what's suggested.

Well, for the characters I always change them to lower case, because I really dislike the all caps.
Normally I change the names of the characters into other game/anime characters, which somewhat resemble the character. Sabin=Gourry (If I could give him a last name it would of course be Gabriev), because they're both kinda dense Terra=Amelia, despite the fact that Amelia doesn't have green hair...eh, I don't like either Umaro=Imp, heh, can never resist making him a full time imp ![]() those are about the most creative I've ever done, although they really aren't that creative, it's something I guess |

Well because of the 5 letter limit, I never changed the FF6 names much. But for others:
FF7- Red = Nanaki Barret = Mr. T Tifa = Britney Cait Sith = Reemer FF8- Squall = Squeal Irvine = Poser And I had a bunch of other ones that I either forgot, or just won't post. -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

Well as for other FF games, I always changed the name of the hero to my name (Jason or Kritter), and the heroine to one of my female friends. (Alex or Rachel usually). But with the later games I just left the characters names as they were.
I was just digging through my stuff that I hadn't unpacked from hence returning home VIA Pennsylvania, and low and behold I found my SNES AND FF3. ![]() But looking at his names, I became curious and I asked him online what most of them were. He said that he had gotten them out of some of his favorite books, and that some were names of dragons, or names of his furry friends. Some of those names included Arrev, Swift, Sarvn, Krit, and Ormr. (I haven't looked since a week ago). |

The first time, I did change a few names...then I changed it to proper. But my own list goes something like this...
Terra: Juno Locke: Rick Edgar: Zero Sabin: Maestro Celes: Tron The rest: I forgot -------------------- Nine-hundred ninety-nine billion nine-hundered ninety-nine million nine-hundred ninety-nine thousand nine-hundred ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall... |

I usually stick with the origional but sometime when you get really bored you start naming them "gay" so they say "I'm GAY who are you?" and that.

why not name characters so that in certain formations they form a subliminal message?
eg -Terra=drugs -Locke=are -cyan=bad -relm=m'kay? ![]() or... -Terra=dont -Locke=steal -cyan=cable -relm=m'kay? -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |
