What is your favorite Magic Materia, not including Master Magic?

Mine is a tie between Shield and Ultima. Shield is the best defence, making one character practically invincible to attacks except piercing attacks like Aire Tam Storm.
Ultima is the most powerful magic spell, but not as powerful as Summons like Bahamut Zero and Knights of the Round.

Barrier would be my favorite if it wasn't for Big Guard.

You know, I never bothered to use the shield materia, considering how late you get it in the game. I think I used the barrier materia the most. It was very useful. Life was always nice though! Like, phew! they're alive again...

Barrier/MBarrier. Simple yet eternally useful. Saved my life many a time.

I voted Contain, it was either that or Restore, which wasn't on your list. Howzabout four excellent offensive magic spells, four elements to link to your armor, and three awesome status effects to link to your weapon. The only drawback is a fairly steep set of stat modifications, but no worries, still my favorite "black magic" materia, not counting Enemy Skill.

Time for me, I'm a big fan of haste. Still, I never use slow, but stop sometimes.

I never care much about defense, that is why I don't use Barrier/MBarrier.

Barrier for me as well id be lost without it

Lightning.

Why?

Because early in the game it was best against most the enemies, then later my E-Skill with Aqualung and Mighty Guard. And that's not magic. =P

My favorite materia is probably comet as an attack, because the animation is awesome.

Ultima was also pretty cool, but it just didnt cut it for me personally. Despite my vote, barrier/MBarrier was my next choice, since, as expressed above, it has saved my life many a time...

Restore/Full Cure are the two I use the most. After that, I think Time is probably my favourite. I like going a lot.

I picked Contain since it rocks when you equip it with the added effect materia plus Break is one of my favorite spells. In the end though I like the enemy skill materia alot more. I just like Blue Magic.

Contain, Freeze and Break are two of my fav. spells

Definatly Contain.

Freeze, Break, Tornado, and Flare are AWESOME.

I picked revive. For all other materias there are better and other ways of doing it. LIke cure you could use white wind or an x-potion. or haste/barrier you could use mighty guard, or any damage spell shadow flare is always good.

i use ultima a lot, too. sticking an mp absorb on it makes your mp "infinite," and it's just as powerful and a lot damn shorter to watch than many summons. all the other green materia pretty much suck.

Full Cure.. But you can't use it on all. But it is useful in Ruby Weapon battle if you don't have much elixirs or megalixirs.

Time for me. Specifically, Time+All. Hasting your whole party is awesome!

Ultima and Full-Cure. One spell after a time of leveling up AP, I'd say it's worth the suspense of having real cool spells at your MP disposal. In my game, Red XIII or Cait Sith gets Full-Cure whereas my Ultima goes into Cloud's sword .
