Hey everyone, I have a few questions.
![]() The first is of a more practical nature. When you're flying around the World of Ruin trying (or trying not to) find Doom Gaze, is he flying around too? Or is he stationed in one place, waiting to eat whatever comes his way? Also, does he have a sprite, or do you just run into him as if he was a random encounter? My next question is thus, and it's of a more reflective nature. Where is the Ancient Castle, exactly? I mean, I know how to get there. But where is it? Is it underground? That doesn't seem to make sense, because when you get there, it appears to be in broad daylight. Finally, consider this ... Quote I am Atma. Left here since birth ... I have had an eternity to ponder the meaning of things. And now I finally have an answer ... What exactly is his answer? -------------------- "I will create a monument to nonexistence!!" "The end comes ... beyond chaos." ~ Kefka, Final Fantasy VI |

AS for Doom Gaze, it's a random encounter, and yes the ancient castle is for all purposes underground...
Atma's answer? Dunno. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Tell my family...they owe me money." -Narratorway "If you retort against this, so help me God I'll shove any part of your anatomy I can find into some other part. Figuratively, of course." - Josh "We have more, can deliver tuesday." - Del S Good old CoN |

Just to clarify, Doom Gaze stays in one place on the map. Each time he escapes (if he does - it's likely) he moves somewhere else.
The route to the Ancient Castle is underground, but don't you go up some stairs shortly before getting there? If that's the case, it could be above ground like the scenery depicts, it just happens to be in a remote part of the world (think of that "are the world maps real" topic in the Squenix forum). Figaro Castle was probably just bumping into the underground cave that formed in the WoR, since that's where you end up when investigating - it'd be a little funny if they were running smack into the Ancient Castle itself, then continuing on their way by bumping past it as if they're reckless drivers trying to parallel park. Atma's answer is "42". Or at least it should be, according to Douglas Adams. Quote (SilverFork @ 14th May 2005 09:11) Atma's answer is "42". Or at least it should be, according to Douglas Adams. Or is it? HHGTTG Series spoilers. Possible spoilers: highlight to view 42 was the Answer given by Deep Thought, the second-greatest computer of all time, but Arthur Dent, the last surviving component of Earth, the greatest computer of all time, determines the Question to be "WHAT DO YOU GET IF YOU MULTIPLY SIX BY NINE?" So what is it? Either Earth was flawed, Deep Thought was flawed, or the calculations were made in base 13. No one knows for sure. -------------------- |

Possible spoilers: highlight to view Douggy himself confirmed that it wasn't the latter, and that that was just a coincidence. ![]() Atma's answer seems to be that the meaning of life is pretty much null, and that all things must eventually return to nothingness. Something to that end. Could also be the good old "Might makes Right!" thing ("Feeble creatures... go!") The game doesn't offer any explanation, but seeing as he's trying to anihilate the party, I'd say it's nothing too positive. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Dude, nobody makes jokes in Base 13
![]() The Ancient Castle is supposed to be underground. When traveling under the sea with Figaro Castle, you wind up in the cave; you take some stairs (?) down, and then up again. -------------------- |

Quote (Retribution @ 15th May 2005 12:50) ![]() ... well maybe i can see now after i read that book, but im still confused with 42! ![]() Finding the meaning of 42, the answer to the greatest question of life, the universe, and everything, is what the Hitchiker's Guide is centered around (the "real" final book was the third one, where they finally learn what 42 means.) As I would be spoiling the greatest piece of litterature ever written, I cannot reveal what the meaning behind 42 is. Read the books; it's worth it if only because it's such a great series. Though to sum things up, it's an inside joke taken from a book many people have read multiple times. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |
