I don't think it was necessary to create a new topic for only that information... well here goes:
you can cast as much as you want (High Def + Migh Magic Def reccomanded) - Your Limit bar will increase much faster because it's calculated on damage/MaxHP - So losing 1000/5000HP will increase as much as losing 250/1250HP That's pretty much it... I often use it before a boss against random enemies to increase my limit bar because I got so much defense (255 Def, 255 Magic Def) -------------------- Sayonara |

wow, that's smart. I suppose it makes sense that the materia can be used in some way. I just figured it was totally useless.
It would be good if you're party was invincible with Aeris limit (but I know you can't). Maybe try having this materia and also the final attack linked with Life 2... man that could get annoying, lol. Actually Great Gospel effects are the following
Target: All party Member Add Status: Peerless Recovery (+9999HP/MP) And Shield Adds Status Peerless on a single character for 180MP. The peerless Status seems to block everything except Emerald's Air Tam Storm. So, yes HP<->MP could be used that way too. Final Attack would be ridiculously useless because at master level after dying 5 times, the materia won't save you anymore. And knowing your max HP becomes 999, not quiete useful. -------------------- Sayonara |

Quote (Zodiac @ 8th May 2005 12:01) Final Attack would be ridiculously useless because at master level after dying 5 times, the materia won't save you anymore. And knowing your max HP becomes 999, not quiete useful. I wouldn't call it ridiculously useless. You're ensured of "surviving" for at the very least 5 turns before your chances run out. And if you're hit by something that does piercing damage (Aire Tam comes to mind) and even a normal character would be killed, it makes no difference anymore HP-wise. However, you have an ungodly amount of MP. Picture having your entire party lined up with FinalAttack/Life, HP<->MP. After your five turns of wild, HP/MP-disregarding casting, you can still just whip out Life 2 spells as much as you want because, hey, you have practically infinit MP. It's a very solid safety net that could've been the best strategy ever if FF7 actually had different characters beyond mere models/limits/equipment. Imagine having your magic users in the back row with that setup? ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I come down on the side of this being a pretty useless materia. Ungodly amounts of MP just don't cut it compared to decent amounts of MP and enough health to stay alive. (Do you really want to waste two linked materia slots fixing the problem you created?)
If you could get it earlier, it would be good for learning limits, I suppose. My strategy for that is usually to manipulate monsters into attacking someone in fury and then having that character kill them all. This would speed up part of the process. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

I think i am alittle confused here but i am going to ask this question none the less. So if you are at a low enough level already and you had that thing on and got your mp (or what was your mp) tosay 1000 would it stay like that if you took it off or would it go back to the normal level?

Both MP and HP change back immediately when you remove the materia
