Grrr....With triplicate master everything materia, level 99 everyone, with all their limits, and Ruby and Emerald in their respective graves, I still can't get Enemy Away in the Chocobo Square! Is there any other way to get this materia? The statistical probability of getting Enemy Away is practically nil! I've spent tons of Gil betting and have raced hundreds of races. When the Enemy Away materia actually shows up in a race, I always end up winning the Bolt Plume or some other worthless thing. How frustrating!

Oh you are so unlucky the exact same thing happened to me with "Magic Counter" I had to go over 200+ races on S rank to finally get it... I calculated and my chance of getting the materia was 93% lower than normal

wow so its not a fluke thing, its just practically impossible lol. Fortunately for my part, the magic counter materia is in the north cave. as far as i know, you can only get enemy away by racing chocobos.

Materias that can be found in Nothern Crater are:

- W-Magic
- Mega All
- Counter
- Shield

Enemy Away & Magic Counter are the only two materias that can ONLY be obtained via Chocobo Races.

it only took me an hour or so to get it, i guess i really lucked out.

but i was really getting sick of bolt plumes, i always landed on them.

I had this same problem. I spent ages trying to get magic counter but never got anywhere. I figured in the end, I was doing something wrong and there was something simple I was missing. I just gave up. It shouldn't just be down to chance. My advice is just give up on it, it's not worth it.

Is it available in the betting, as well as the racing? I remember I was having trouble getting something from the racing, so I dabbled a bit in the betting and won it.

Zodiac, counter magic materia is also in the North Cave. It is not visible, it is hidden in a materia waterfall. There is a blue cave room very close to the bottom in which there is a pillar in the center you can climb down then walk in a circle, or you can just jump to the left. Go to the brghtest part of the materia waterfall behind you on the left of the pillar and start clicking circle until you find the counter magic materia. Enemy lure is the only materia that is obtained only in the Chocobo races. Also, check out the walkthrough provided in the cavesofnarshe ff7 walkthrough section:

Yeah I have decided to forget enemy lure. besides i enjoy the battles.

Thanks for pointing out that I totally wasted 6 full hours of my life.

My TV is getting Old, the brightness is hardly high and I can only lower it at the state it is now.
