This is a WIP thing I'm doing, my expansion of the FF6 world, starting off in the form of the facts to refer to when I eventually get round to starting it. This stuff so far's not nearly finished, but I felt like just dropping these parts down for comments on the ideas, and to see if anyone can spot where some of the names come from (An awful lot of places, some of them from words lying side by side in something I was reading) and of course, any glaring errors or missed out facts!.
Other thing's to still be done: World placings of the nations, expanding the regions to name the regional capital and any other major town/cities in it, a map in relation to it all, a little history of each nation, and then the thing it's all aiming for, a fic about the Doman Campaign, as in, the actual Vectorian invasion of the nation of Doma. It'll be quite some time before it's all done though. My exams start in one week Like the FF7 Guns and such, if you like anything here, feel free to go ahead and use it yourself in your own works. (PS Yes I'm still insane, and I'll also find my frog, who took my frog?) Note on Languages: Vectorian= Similar to American English. Tzenian Dialect is UK English Doman= Similar to Japanese Jidoorian= Similar to Spanish Narshean= Similar to Russian Moblizian= Similar to Irish Zozoan= Similar to Gaelic Figaroan= Similar to French Nikhan= Similar to Polish Kohlinghsprache (Kohlinghenese) = Similar to German Thaman= Similar to Swedish Marandan= Similar to Welsh Edit NOTE: The World Map of FF6 is regarded here as a gameplay representation rather than a geographically accurate map, hence why the desolate wasteland that composes most of Figaro has a high agricultural score! this is truly inspired. I like the Zozo regions (although why is Zuzo with the Jidoorian nation?). I MUST ask you what inspired you with all the names (for example, why did you gave the vectorian colonies of Maranda names from Shakespearean plays?)
Anyway, great stuff, if somewhat overkill with the nations. Also, there is some erroneousness with the economic grade in Vector, I'll leave you to find out where for yourself. Well, some suggestions on my part:
1. I'd say Zozo has equipment and numbers, not equipment and organisation. 2. Also, Zozo should be an OFFICIAL part of Jidoorian territory, however unagreeing, not paying taxes and all-round anarchistic. 3. Figaro is THE technological capitol of the world. They should have the best army equip. 4. I also thought Doma had good equipment... Oh yeah, and one more thing: Quote Nikhan= Similar to Polish Lol. Why specifically Nikeah? What led you to putting the similarities in languages? Did you have a plan for that (Like: "This one goes here and the other one her, because..." or was it random? -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Quote (alphasmart @ 5th May 2005 16:29) this is truly inspired. I like the Zozo regions (although why is Zuzo with the Jidoorian nation?). I MUST ask you what inspired you with all the names (for example, why did you gave the vectorian colonies of Maranda names from Shakespearean plays?) Anyway, great stuff, if somewhat overkill with the nations. Also, there is some erroneousness with the economic grade in Vector, I'll leave you to find out where for yourself. Well, naming had an element of organised chaos. Certain areas wound up bearing the burnt of inspirations: Kohlinghen, for example, has numerous names from Scotland. Miranda happened to have some blanks and few words handy to cut to peices to form a sensible-sounding (ish!) name, so got the old shakespeare tribute treatment. Figaro has a good example. Hakespeares. Guess how that was made. Some regions are built from names of characters in films, from authors, and from two words lying side by side in a peice of text, CD titles, etc... Preston (John Preston, in Equlibirum), Clancy (Tom Clancy) One other thing, for instance. In Vector, there's a region called Submarin... as well as a few references to Brave New World and 1984. Oh, and cheers for the vector state error. Quote (SilverMaduin @ 5th May 2005 18:51) Well, some suggestions on my part: 1. Well, the thing with Zozo is, my plan is that about 15 years earlier, it WAS Jidoorian. But Kohlinghen and Vector, both of whom who felt Jidoor was a threat, sponsored revolt in the Zozoan regions, even sending troops in to join the fight with the rebels. The result was, that the early versions of Magitek feilded by Vector then, the Vm2A Heavy secured land dominance when Vector joined in officially in 991 After War of Magi, as well as their Vector-One 'self loading' rifle, which had a nasty rate of fire in the trained hands of Vector's Marine Expeditionary Force troopers, and made the Jidoorian breech-loaders woefully inadequate. Jidoor conceded Zozoan independence to 4 out of 5 regions, retaining a demilitarised Zuzo in an effort to reduce the liklihood of a repeat of Veldtlandian indepenced, which saw Doma barely just surrender the southern turf, and hold onto the northern regions of Burania, Johnlia, Preston,Taye, and also Solbiz, or Hagania as Doma calls it. Vector once again joined in in another war to claim these lands back about seventeen years before the game. But the independent Zozo soon collapsed into anarchy, the various rebel leaders and their loyal soldiers disagreeing with the government, thinking it a Jidoorian puppet. The result was the nation broke down to seperate areas ruled over by warlords, with skirimishes between various factions erupting often. What few loyal government forces are better organised and equipped than the rest, having recived Vectorian training and the vector-one rifle, but the fact they've not got a lot else means the nation's grading suffers. Naturally, a state of civil war means the economy is in shambles also. Figaro's working on Oil-engines and certianly has tech nearing vectorian, surpassing in soem areas, but Vector's naval and land forces have acess to Magitek weaponry, Vector also, in my idea, has an Airborne force. Since that makes them the best, to have grade 4 tech, you need Magitek. Doma's equipment in the main is breech-loading rifles and crossbows, and only the defences around the Castle and Capital City have been properly equipped. but it is a little off, and so, I suppose I'll boost it to 2 to show that half the country's got a decent weapon, and the huge navy of Doma (Which will be utterly mauled by Vector!) Languages were random in some cases but planned in others, with Doma being edited to Japanese from the randomised Italian. Figaro, due to the royal family's names, became France. Kohlinghen to me, sounded a bit germanic, so it became German-speaking. Narshe recived it's Russian due to the fact that Russia has seen two powerful militarys defeated by their forces and their winters in history: Napoleon's armies and Hitler's forces, and since Narshe is where Vector recived it's first bloody nose, it seemed a logical choice to me. Nikeah recived Polish purely randomly, just like Mobliz, Thamasa, Jidoor, and thwe previously italian-speaking Doma... -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

I really like that.
I would imagine Doma would have a better military score than it got though. It did hold off the empire for quite some time before they were unceremoniously disposed of. The explainations are good, and it helps you understand things better if you put them into the context. You oughta make up some history for each nation too. Sort of an informatory fan fiction. I eat that sort of stuff up, being the geography and history buff I am. Edit--Almost makes me feel like writing a Zozo Fanfic for some reason. Edit2- I also feel the veldt should have better agriculture. There is alot of open plains there. Ideal for farming I would imagine. 'Wow' is the only way I quite know how to describe it. Makes you feel either envious or sorry for the person who wrote it
I think that it is a great representation of the Wo(-). French for Figaro, Japanese for Doma, and Swedish for Thamasa fit so well, and I got a kick outa Zozans speaking Gaelic. The ranking of military and economical status were odd (to me) but the governmental things are really nice and realistic. And extra kudos on listing the entire region, specially on whichever one had 40 -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? Snazzy.
Only in my Novelization I made Narsh, and thus Locke, have that distinctly northern-english feel and sound. Otherwise, cool! |

The main error I found was that Narshe only got a 3 for industry. Isn't it supposed to be the industrial capital of the world?

Nope. Narshe is a mining country. Industry is better developed in Figaro and Vector.

These little histories are updated.
NATIONAL HISTORIES DOMA Doma was once the most powerful nation on the planet, with an empire covering nearly half the world. However, in 800AWM, the north-eastern part of the empire crumbled, The small country of Carbal fighting west to eventually become modern-day Narshe. The result was that Doma became greatly weakened. After a disastrous attempt to invade Tzen, crushed by the Allied navies of Tzen, Vector, and Figaro, Nikeah then revolted In 899, becoming independent that year. In 950, Vector, Tzen, and Albrook helped Veldtland achieve independence. But the independent Mobliz did not do what Nikeah had done, and remain peaceful. Veldtland wanted to head north, or east, and so, Doma invaded in 980 after a disastrous foray north by Veldtland. However, with Vector’s alliance, Doma was forced back, eventually conceding some southern regions in return for an end to hostilities. Doma’s modernisation of its military and industry has been severly hampered by Traditionalists. Even the deployment of the most modern equipment at the borders of Veldtland, capital, and Doma Castle was opposed by the traditionalists. As a result, it meant that Vector’s invasion force encountered large numbers of very poorly trained and equipped troops, with the navy, which was felt would have repelled Vector’s task force alone, being smashed aside by the superior armaments of Vector’s ships. The only real troubles Vector had during the invasion came from the tactics of a Captain Keel of the militias. Vector’s advance was slowed at Halania by the ambush and sabotage tactics of Keel’s forces, but when the traditionalist General Garamonde most senior of Doma’s generals who had not disappeared a few days before the Vectorian diplomatic mission left the country, ordered Keel to fight an open battle, the Vectorian advance resumed. The siege of Loma and the Veldtlandian assault on Solbiz suffered from encountering the modern weapons of Doma, but the former battle saw Vectorian victory due to marginally superior arms, the latter battle(s), with numbers, a prospect only possible due to reduced numbers brought about by defeats in the north. Doma is currently in the hands of Vector’s forces, with a few loyal troops holed up in Doma Castle’s fortifications. Vector’s casualties in that siege alone are threatening to exceed the figures from the rest of the entire war. VELDTLAND/MOBLIZ Veldtland secured it’s independence from Doma just over fifty years ago. Since then, it has been subject to a high degree of militant feeling, which came to a head in the 980’s with an effort to invade Doma, that went disastrously wrong at the Battle of Bauer Island. Doma countered, and was on the verge of invading the entire nation until the three allies of Mobliz, the Vectorian Federation of Vector, Tzen, and Albrook, smashed through the Thamsan-held sectors of the naval blockade and deployed their combined marine forces around. The fightback forced Veldtland north, had Thamasa retreat from the battle, and saw Doma’s south become Veldtland’s north. It’s economy is aimed mostly at agriculture, but recently industrialisation has begun to expand in the larger cities and it is estimated by 1005, Veldtland will have three industrial cities. THAMASA Thamasa has been a quiet nation, and little is known about it, other than that any invasions launched In history have been disastrous, and their Navy is of a decent strength, rumoured to use Magitek engines and weaponry, but Vector denies this. Famed for producing many magical artifacts, and sells a great amount of Magicite to Vector. It was allied with Doma during the 980’s war, fearing that Mobliz would be used as a base for a Figaroan or Vectorian assault upon their island. However, this venture backfired, and so, the nation is apparently still in a state of emergency, fearing a military assault will occur as soon as Vector has consolidated it’s grip on Doma. NIKEAH For centuries, Nikeah was a squabbling set of smaller states, one by one swallowed up by Doma. After Narshe established itself in 800, though, the nations of the Nikeahn Region rebelled against Doma and united under one banner. The nation has established alliance with Narshe, and even with it’s old ruler, Doma, but declared neutrality during the war in Doma, and is still stressing neutrality should Vector attack Narshe. It has been accused by Figaro, however, of having sent supplies and even mercenaries to Narshe. NARSHE The largest coal, iron, and mineral wealth in the world is in the Narshe Mountains: And as a result, Narshe has one of the world’s strongest economies. A land of contrast, with small mining towns dotted across the cold mountains, but with larger cities and towns across the warmer plains and shorelines. One of only three nations that uses ‘self-loading’ rifles, which have only very recently been issued to replace some ‘autocrossbow ‘units, (Crossbows still used in training and monster hunting exercises) currently under threat of Vectorian invasion due to having not only escorted fleeing Doman ships in international waters to prevent a Figaroan assault upon them, but also taking in the refugees and exiled personnel of Doma. FIGARO A highly industrialised state, called the technological capital of the world until Vector’s unquestioned dominance of Magitek rendered Figaro‘s technology second-best, it is still one of the most advanced nations in the world, having invented and widely placed telegraph communications, and also being the only the second SLR-using nation, and the only nation other than the Vectorian Empire to have an air force. A key ally of Vector, it commands a powerful navy and strong land army. The current royal house has been in power for over 700 years, and it’s current head, King Edgar Roni Figaro, has been monarch since his father’s death, after settling the succession problem with his twin brother by some means that has never been revealed, but what is known is that Crown Prince Sabin has not been seen for some time by the general public. KOHLINGHEN Kohlinghen is a body of allied states that only truly came about in the year 859. Despite the young age of the greater body, the component cells each have a distinct unique feel and history, and even a few linguistic differences are evident across the nation. Quite advanced in most fields, it still uses bolt-action rifles, but also uses a copy of Jidoor’s 40mm infantry artillery. Over it’s history, it has seen small wars with Narshe, Figaro, and Jidoor, the most serious war being the Zozoan war of independence, where It fought Jidoor, with the alliance of Figaro and Vector, and the support of Narshe. Since that war, many of the people of Kohlinghen have felt that Figaro and Vector betrayed the Zozoans, ethnic cousins to the Kohlinghen peoples. However, the Government of Kohlighne is still allied to Figaro, and is, like Nikeah, stressing neutrality if any Vectorian invasion of Narshe should occur. ZOZO A nation that came about from the aid of others, the country collapsed soon after the end of it’s war of independence. The legitimately-recognised government is officially supported by Figaro, Vector, and Kohlinghen, but the nation outside the capital is ruled by local warlords. A Jidoorian invasion Is only averted by the threat of reprisal, but nonetheless, Jidoorian paramilitaries are alleged to be assisting certain factions, whilst Kohlinghen Is the only nation to still have ‘peacekeeping’ forces present. The fragmented Zozo was home to one of the most famous military actions of recent times, the ‘sprint up the river Zazin’ by a mere 120 Vectorian marines to rescue their ambassador to the nation, kidnapped by Insurgent militias, in 997. Vector’s forces succeeded against a far larger enemy force, and suffered only 12 casualties, compared to around 1000 Zozoan "militia" killed. JIDOOR Jidoor has always been a rich nation, and is said to be the cultural capital of the world. The southernmost region of Opera is the birthplace of opera music, and also, is home to the world’s finest and most famous Opera House. It is a nation with few true allies however, and only ensures no invasions have occurred in recent years due to having some of the finest military minds of the world, and some of the finest military tools. Jidoor is said to be working on an Air Force project, and even it’s own magitek research. VECTORIAN EMPIRE Vector Vector has long been the strongest nation on the Southern Continent. It’s recent history has seen numerous wars, none of them a defeat for Vector. In 984, the Vectorian Federation of Vector, Tzen, and Albrook, merged to form the Vectorian Empire. Miranda was already under Vectorian rule at that point, and so, became a part of the newly-formed largest nation in the world. Vector’s last defending war with a neighbour was in 939, where the victory over Albrook’s forces at the Battle of Terra, led by General Charles Palazzo, saw Albrook concede to joining the Alliance with Vector and Tzen in a trade capacity, and eventually a military capacity, before the total integration of the countries as the Vectorian Empire. Vector is the world’s most industrialised nation, and is at the fore of most modern technological advances. Tzen Tzen has long been an ally of Vector, and as an Individual state, only ever saw war with Doma and Jidoor: the former in the 980’s, the latter over the last 500 years, mostly at sea. Due to having been a major naval power in the past as a seperate nation, and having a long history of shipbuilding, today, Tzen is home to dozens of Shipyards in nearly ever major costal town or City. It is also home of the Savvaron Magitek Plant, where the famous Vm-2 Heavy Magitek suit is still produced, along with the newer Vm-4 and the Navy/Marines new fleet of Magitek powered landing craft and gunboats. Albrook Like Tzen, Albrook has been relatively quiet, warring only with Vector and Miranda. It is citied as the birthplace of modern farming methods. An uneventful nation beyond that, it was defeated in the 939 Battle of Terra after a three-year war, and led to the formation of the Vectorian Federation. The region of Foxerton and many of it’s neighbouring regions are mass producers of Magicite, but the production of so much Magicite has been blamed for an incident that has seen the military seal caverns in the Maginar Mountains, 3 miles northeast of Foser, and is said to have seen a platoon of soldiers killed. The incident is officially classed as a ‘monster attack’ and the caves are said to be a nest of extremely dangerous creatures, that the military is containing in the interests of public safety. Miranda Invaded by Vector in 950, Miranda was the site of a rebel uprising in 1000, suppressed brutally by then-Major-General, now Lieutenant General, Celes Chere, the last officer left in command after Rebels attacked the state parliament and captured most of the officers. The uprising was quickly quelled by the young General’s skilled command and tactical mind, but she was somewhat criticised for not doing enough to prevent the rebel destruction of Loyal farms and towns, whilst destroying the property of rebel forces as the law required of traitors. The result of the revolution ahs been that its once productive farms are mostly in ruins, and there are fears that unless Vector can supply sufficient aid, there will be famine, and possibly another revolt. Well, I have edited in most of the missing information, and all that remains is the map, expanded histories, and actual fic...
My goodness! The map is right here!. Not great, and if I ever decided to try and fob this lot off as a site submission, it'll need a little editing to reduce it's filesize, but it's sufficient I think. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

Man, this is great! Y'know, you should make a fanfic similar to a school textbook, y'know? A history book, except of the FF6 world! In the immortal words of one of my neighbors that is obsessed with LOTR (way before the movies came out): "Man, I love reading all those books about the history of Middle-Earth and stuff! It's like LEARNING, except none of it's true!"
