tentacles was THE worst boss.
EVER ![]() the seize ability, plus their speed made sure that at one time all my characters were getting their brains sucked out through their skulls, and that's not getting to the Bio and poison spells. MagiMaster comes a close second, though. but i was lucky enough to cast life 3 on one character (cos he was slaughtering them), and i survived. phew. -------------------- Yes... this world is filled with both Light and Darkness, though how long this delicate Balance will last I don not know. |

It's not on the list, but I'd have to say Goddess.
There are two reasons I found her exseptionally difficult, one is that she kept charming my best fighters, and they'd end up killing the others and themselves (in one or two hits). The other reason was when I first went up against her, it was about three o-clock in the morning, and I'd been playing sense seven or seven thirty. Basicly, my brain was too fryed to fight her, let alone myself. Of the ones you have, though, I'd have to say MagiMaster. My brother told me that if you drained him of his magic, he would die and not be able to cast ultama on you at the end. That took me forever! (plus the fact that I had to do it twice because mom call me to leave somewhere the first time, and I had to start all over again when I returned. *sigh* Isn't that what mothers are for?) Definately the group in kefkas tower, the one with 2 ninja pallete people, and the slam dancer pallete. getting hit by 2 skeans, then meteor evrey turn is just brutal. My weakest party was able to take down a few bosses, while my best was nuked by this party. >.>

Tenticles is probably the only boss which forced me to change my tactics repeatedly. It wasn't like the other bosses where each character finds the thing that hurts it the most, and then you do it until it's dead. When one character is seized, you have to switch around your strategy so that the remaining ones take up the role of fighting/healing that the seized character performed. Sometimes, you're left with one guy frantically healing himself, waiting for the tentacles to give back Gerad and his chainsaw.
So, tentacles, for actually making me think. This post has been edited by Iain Peregrine on 11th April 2005 20:41 |

Hardest in the game = cranes after magitek factory(3 members forced (setzer=uberweak and ill-equipped))
Second hardest = The guy on the train ride out of magitek factory.(3 party members forced) Here's strats for all those guys: Kefka: Brute force/poison, RATING: easy N128: equip everyone with non-elemental weps, have sabin pummel, RATING: easy Atma Weapon: He was tougher, but I believe that mana drain works on him (not sure, it's been a few years). Otherwise it might just be a brute force/poison type of guy, RATING: hard Tentacles: Poison them with Edgar or Terra. RATING: easy Storm Dragon: Very tough, you need specific shields, and it's tough to get someone who can tank him. RATING: hard Doom Gaze: you can fight him repeatedly, fire shields. RATING: easy Magi Master: All about strategy. My party was low level so I mana drained him to death. Took a while, but it was easy and effective. RATING: medium Wrexsoul: Late in game, Mog>*. RATING: easy Doom: Late in game, Mog>*. RATING: easy Kefka Final: Late in game, Mog>*. RATING: easy Everyone forgets poisoning. When really, it's the most effective thing in the game. Its damage doubles on the enemy every time you use it, so it may start doing 100 damage but end up doing 9999. Every turn. Keep your eye out for guys who are effected by it, it's how I killed a majority of the toughest creatures in the game. |

I am actually quite surprised that people mention Storm Dragon as one of the harder bosses. I personally had rather little trouble beating him, and I found battles like Tentacles more annoying and Wrexsoul to be more difficult.

Do you have a particular strategy for beating Storm Dragon, Glenn? He's one of the toughest for me personally ... I mean, he's the first dragon and the most difficult (at least, he has the highest HP and some pretty lethal attacks). I've always found it ironic that he is the first of the eight dragons. I like fighting him on Mount Zozo when going to find Cyan rather than waiting until later in the game, it makes for a nice challenge.
I agree with you completely on the Tentacles, good buddy. I usually start off by casting Regen on my party, as I would lose more of my characters to poison than any other attack. Wrexsoul? I don't even bother with him anymore, ever since I found out he can defeated by using X-Zone on the Soul Savers. -------------------- "I will create a monument to nonexistence!!" Of the ones on the list, Atma. Atma Atma Atma. He laughs at me as he grinds me into the dust of the Floating Continent.
Otherwise, Chadarnook. ALWAYS switches to the lady form at the worst possible moment... -------------------- |

I really can't figure out why Tentacles are so difficult. I had beaten them at once, without preparation, without even noticing the weaknesses of each one. I just used Bum Rush, level 2 spells, and AutoCrossbow. That's all.
Kefka in Narshe was just a piece of cake. I've beaten him at once too, without going with my best characters, and with having Gau doing random Rages (I didn't know how they worked...) Doom Gaze? I really CAN'T find him. I've spend tons of hours trying to reach him, with no result. I've beaten Wrexsoul just with one magic, Doom, so I can't say a lot about him. So... my vote's going to be null... -------------------- "Right and wrong are now what separate us and our enemies. It's our different standpoints, our perspectives that separate us.
