Ehh.... Thanks, but would it have been so hard to give me a bowl? O.O

Anyway, I think I've got a question (I'm about 95% sure of the answer)

--Mario RPG--

What are the two things wrong with the 'Mushrooms' that Gooma's kids sell you in Monstro Town?

(I need both things)

Link: "What is it?"
Mario: "It's coin, what the hell does it look like?"
Link: "Well.... What do you do with it?"
Mario: "You buy lives with them."

You know, this question was asked at such a great time because I was talking about this with Adam about four or five days ago. Anyway, I hate to answer again so soon but it doesn't seem like many people are interested in this question so I'll give it a shot:

1. As Megayummysoup said, they have a differnt discription. Normal mushrooms say "It heals 30 HP." where as the ones the Goomba kids try to sell are labled "It heals 30 HP, but. . ."

2. The Mushroom Boy won't eat them. In fact, he doesn't even recongize them as mushrooms. I say this because he'll say "But, you don't have any mushrooms." if you try and give him some. It would've been nice to get some rock candies for them.

3. I'm not sure about this but I've been told that if you eat them, you can get mushroomized sometimes. I never saw this happen before so I'm a tad bit skeptical of it but that's what I've been told.

Also, I don't remember but weren't they priced differntly? To tell the truth, I forgot.

I have just verified the following things, via the convenience of a rom:
1. These special Mushrooms have the description of "Recoers 30 HP, but...", and cost 4 coins each. Normal Mushrooms have the description "Recovers 30 HP", and also cost 4 coins each. Note the spelling difference (which I don't believe was intentional, but...).
2. They are indeed not recognized by the Mushroom Boy in seaside town.
3. They are orange when used in battle, just like normal Mushrooms.
4. When I tried using one in battle, I had a party of Mario, Toadstool, and Bowser. It was Toadstool's turn, and none of them had full HP. To my surprise, I couldn't use the item on Toadstool herself; only the other two characters could be targeted. The same thing happened when I attempted it on Mario later.
5. Also during the battle, as a side effect of this special Mushroom, Bowser turned into a mushroom! It indeed healed him by 30 HP, though.
6. The two different types of mushrooms are categorized separately in your items list. Normal Mushrooms count as healing items, and are placed at the very beginning of your list; these strange Mushrooms count as some sort of special item and are placed somewhere at the end.
7. When buying Mushrooms, normal and special types count separately. For example, if I have two normal Mushrooms and five of those strange ones from the Triplets, and I go to Seaside Town and prepare to buy Mushrooms, it says I already have 2. When I go back to Monstro Town and prepare to buy the Triplets' Mushrooms, it says I already have 5. The icons and names of these two items are respectively the same, but this isn't the first time Square has produced a game with two apparently identical items which have different properties.

And just to think of what would have happened if these little thingies appeared earlier in the game...because I first bought a few Mushrooms off of these little kiddies just from being nice, but I didn't really need them...

If I've gotten the question right, I kinda cheated by opening up the game, loading a saved state, and experimenting around with these little items, so I'll pass the question onto Megayummysoup. If Megayummysoup doesn't want it, then it's up for grabs.

edit: added bold tag.

GMH guessed the two I was thinking of (But then again, i was unawre there were so many others o.o)

They were:

- The spelling error - 'Recoers'
- The fact that they turn you into mushrooms

so, GMH has it.

Well, it's been a while, so I'll post one.
In Super Mario World, when you get a 1-up, the text for it is red. You can get it in many ways (like eating a green mushroom, collecting 100 coins, or knocking out 8 enemies in a row.) Name the text colors and an example of how to get a 2-up and a 3-up.

I believe it's blue and green respectively. The easiest way I can think of to reach the two and three up is by collecting enough grey coins from a grey P-block that each collection provides multiple 1-ups at a time. If you need the specific point amount that this is equal to, I'm afraid someone else will have to step in and provide it.

Green? I don't seem to remember the text being green. As far as I can recall, it's yellow for 2-ups and blue for 3-ups. The easiest way for me to get 2-ups is to kill Wigglers while invincable. For 3-ups, you can get a 3-up moon or grab the ribbon at the highest point on a goal post. I'm fairly certain the grey coin thing works as well but I haven't done that in a while.

Note: For the Wiggler thing, you'll have to kill a fair number of other enemies in the same manner first, just as you would for the regular 1 ups. I think the number is eight but it might be just a little higher.

I'm leaving to go somewhere for a few days later so it's up for grabs if I'm correct.

Tonepoet is correct. The next question is up for grabs. (does anyone else sense a recurring theme here?)

That is just inches away from becoming part of my signiture . . . happy.gif

Anyway, I'm back from my trip so *Retakes the question*. I'll take a short brake from this particular trivia thread after asking this:

(Game; Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.)
What are the four crystals thinking during the Culex battle? Also, match the thoughts to the crystal.

I love Mallow's Psychopath ability. It's got to be one of my favorite abilities in the game.

Wind Crystal -- "Whhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooo ..."
Earth Crystal -- "I hate being awakened!"
Water Crystal -- "Get me back underground!"
Fire Crystal -- "I gotta vacuum tonight!"

That's Cooooooorrrrrrreeeeeecccccct as the Wind Crystal would put it and it is quite the fun little ability isn't it? Whenever I use it I make sure to get the proper timing to get those crazy thoughts the enemies have. Its just so fun, so so fun. You know, I'll never get why Square and Nintendo decided who would get what thoughts. "I gotta vacuum tonight" seems more like something that the wind crystal would say and "Get me back underground!" seems more earthy likewise. I suppose it explains why Cullex is thinking "A little off, eh?" but it still kinda strikes me as odd.

Anyway, its your question Adam. Also, as promised, I'll take a short brake from the Mario Trivia. I'll start sweeping 'em away again either in a month or when we reach page 9. Whichever of those comes first.

Yeah, one of my favorite Psychopath thoughts is Shy Guy's. "Hold still, okay?!" Yeah. I have a particular fondness for Shy Guy, Shy Away, the Shy Ranger, Shyster, Sling Shy, and all of the Shy Clan.

SUPER MARIO RPG

One of the rarest items in Super Mario RPG is Yoshi Ade. What does it do for your party, and how do you go about getting it?

Since it's been a week, I'll take a shot at it. The answer is 21.

The question is up for grabs if this is correct.

It's been a week and a half. unsure.gif I recently looked up the answer to this question on the Secrets of the Seven Stars website, so I'm pretty sure it's correct. In the meantime, let's keep things moving.

SUPER MARIO WORLD (SNES)

What are the five entrances to the Star World, and how are they reached?

I'll take a shot.

1) In the plains. You go tho the lake world find the key, then go to the ghost house, find the door in the sky towrds the end. Go through the goal and there's the star.
2) Find the key in the cave by the pipe on the left of the map.
3)Beat the fortress (or is it a castle?) southwest of the forest.
4)South of the waterfall in the north of the map.
5) Near Bowser's castle.

Okey, these instrustions start from wherever you branch off of the "main" trail.
1) Donut Plains. From Donut Plains 1, use the keyhole exit. Repeat with the underwater level. In the last room in the Donut Secret House, hit the P switch and fly to the ledge at the top and go through the blue door to fight a big boo. Beating him will lead you to Star Road 1.
2) Vanilla Dome. From Vanilla Dome 1, use the keyhole exit. In Vanilla Secret 1, find the pipe leading to the alternate end tape. This will get you to Star Road 2.
3) An island in betwixed the waterfall and Valley o' Bowser. From Butter Bridge, get behind the first tape by a tricky maneuver under it. From there find the second tape. This leads to Soda Lake, which in turn leads to Star Road 3.
4) West of Forest of Illution (the first non food related area). From Forest of Illusion 1, use the keyhole exit. Then beat Forest Ghost House the non-secret way(gasp!). Then beat the next level. Then beat the Fortress. That gets you to Star Road 4.
5) Valley o' Bowser. And last, from Valley of Bowser 4, use the keyhole exit. This requires a Yoshi, because only his tongue can reach the key. Alas, Star Road 5.
If this is right, then Rydia D. gets it, because of how close she got.
Welcom to CoN, BTW.

Well, it's been more then a month and you know what that means. Yep, that's right, I'm back for more Mario triviality (and as of now, that's a word). Since a question hasn't been asked in about eleven days, I'll take this one.

Which of these items doesn't belong in the following list and why?

Cape, Wing Cap, Tanooki Suit, Hammer, Metal Cap, Frog suit

The out of place item should be fairly difficult to spot considering these all seem quite similar but trust me, there is an item with an excluding differance. Good luck everybody.
