Does anyone know what happened to Ramza's mom? The game doesn't even mention her (to my knowledge) and Ramza and Alma talk about her in the beginning of the game. huh.gif

I'm guessing she died during childbirth or during Ramza's early childhood years.

Yeah, I do actually. Her name was Margaret. She married Ramza's father during the Fifty Year War. She was a flower girl in Zeltennia during that time. She hoped to help ease the people's pain through flowers (I found this part kind of lame, myself). After they ran away to be married, she had children. Ramza and Alam were seperated, and then Margaret was found by the Death Knights and slaughtered.

So that's how she died. If you want the website I got this from, check the link below. Its name is a spoiler, so I'll mark it.

lol, I'm, just kidding. I have no idea who the hell she was. Nice question, though.

Don't do that. It's not what spoilers are here for, and the original poster was looking for an actual answer.

Her last name was Ruglia. It's the name Ramza starts using instead of Beoulve in the beginning of Ch. 2.

Ramza's mother is not the same as Zalbag and Dycedarg's. Balbanes, with his seemingly impeccable character, had an affair with Ms. Ruglia and produced Ramza and Alma by her. No clue what profession she is or how she died, but it's said that Ramza is only the older Beoulves' half-blood, so it's otherwise implied.

There was a translation site that filled in some of the more blurry details, and I'll link you all to it if I find it.

Yes, I forgot about Ramza changing his name in Chapter Two. FFT DOES tell you, however, that indeed Ramza is not a real "brother" to Zalbag and Dycedarg, which may be why he and Alma are so different. I suppose there is NO way to determine what she did for a living (Ramza's mother, that is)

Huh, my suspicions finally confirmed. I always had a feeling that Ramza was an illegitimate child. Never bothered to look it up, though. Thank you, L. Cully.

However, I didn’t know that Alma was illegit as well. I always assumed that Ramza was from a side affair and adopted by Balbanes. Her brothers are not as tough on her-- probably since she’s female.

They dont really mention her in the storie cause i dont think her existance is vital to the storie. If you think about it they only mention things in the storie that are really vital to the storie. The fact that ramza has a mother whos is either dead or in hideing really doesnt matter, the only way it could really matter is if it had something to do with a storie or a chapter or even a battle. Since she doesnt she is just left open to the imagination. Much like how gogo was in FF6 they simply put him in there cause they needed a mime and had a left over sprite they could use (i assume anyways.) Getting him had no bearing on the storie or even unlocked anything other than his part in the ending. They inturn have no reason to do this with ramza's mother she had no bearing on the storie and really had no reason to be there except to maybe say "this is ramza's mother".

they never said ramza's mother's name ever. and I also think that ramza and alma were twins, they are always the same age if you check the Zodiac Brave Story a lot. (which for some reason, I do)

They are not twins. Alma is about a year younger than Ramza.

At the beggining of the game when you meet Teta and Alma for the first time. They talk about stuff and then Ramza says these words exactly. (You sound just like our Mom DOES...not did . DOES. then they laugh) If she died they would laugh and its in present tence not past. Thank You

I'm actually sure it's more along the lines of:

Quote (Ramza)
You sound just like our mother.

It doesn't imply that she's deceased or living, as you can see.

I'll state again that there is absolutely no evidence that Ramza and Alma are illegitimate. Zalbag and Dycedarg's mother could easily be deceased or have gotten divorced.

The interpretation that I got from it is that Dycedarg's and Zalbag's mother (Mrs. Beoulve) was Balbanes' legit wife when they were born and she died during the war (either from illness, murder, suicide, or natural causes) and Ramza's and Alma's mother (Ms. Ruglia) was Balbanes' love interest after the his wife's death, as I forgot whether or not it was indicated or said that she was or wasn't Balbanes' wife. I can't remember off-hand whether she alive or dead. In-game, Dycedarg has resentment towards Ramza (not as clear about Alma) and Zalbag loves Ramza and Alma as siblings as he much as he loves Dycedarg.

Edit
This marks post #300! Useless information that I had to share biggrin.gif .

I was wrong. Cardinal Draclau refers to Ramza as a bastard. So Balbanes apparently did not marry his mother.

uhh- I'm pretty sure he was using bastard as an insult, I don't think it had anything to do with his heritage. And the only thing the game ever tells you about ramza's mom is that her last name was ruglia. anything other than that is jsut speculation.

I'm not totally sure on this but isnt a bastard suppost to be some one with out a father, not an illegitmet child or what ever?

No, he uses it in the literal sense. Apparently after Balbanes' first wife died he had Ramza and Alma with another woman who he didn't marry.

I think the more interesting person is Dycedarg and Zalbag's mother. I reckon she may have been somwhat on the evil side. Dycedarg certainly didnt get his ambitious, murderous and needless ruthlessness from Balbanes. People in the game always comment on how alike Ramza is to his father, and i think that his oldest brother didnt get any of the good genes!

Of course it is possible that Dyecdarg killed his dad because he was still angry that he betrayed his own mother had his bastard children...
