new.layout Hey all, I just made a sample template that I might employ for an upcoming website. Just wanted to get your thoughts on it. The layout was done purely in HTML (textepit... the mac equivalent of wordpad). The images were all made using adobe photoshop. It hasn't changed my outlook at all actually. I never thought Nintendo was going to go third party, at least, not any time soon. These sales figures that they have are impressive but they don't change my mind about which system I like best and which I see the most potential in. I personally see more potential with Sony than Nintendo. They sold me with PS1 v.s. the N64, they sold me with PS2 v.s. GameCube. I can't say how thise new handheld market will shape up but I'm not all up in arms about this touch screen business and gimicks and whatnot. It's about the games. The big ones I'm interested in haven't been released yet so it's really up in the air. I do, however, see myself purchasing a PSP before a DS simply because while I'm waiting for games, I can play MP3s or whatever.

I'll be honest, I kinda glossed by the article, but it seemed to me that the whole treatise was that Nintendo was dominant because it had a more salable handheld market.
Duh. For the better part of 2004, Nintendo had zero competition in handhelds. Virtually nothing. Therefore, every single one that they sold was a virtual lock to gain one unit on both of the other big three. Even with the advent of the PSP in both Japan and the US, Nintendo still had two handhelds for sale v. just one for Sony. And the DS is massively cheaper. And if it's not cheap enough, you can still buy a new GBASP on store shelves. And that, as best I can tell, is the entire treatise being used here for the "Nintendo's not dead yet look out lol!" tone of that article. He presents it as this big shock, when every gamer (even me, who really just doesn't care about gaming any more) pretty much knows that handhelds save Nintendo. The point should be, "Will the Revolution turn Nintendo's fortunes around in console gaming?" But of course, some two-bit columnist won't know. The article is nothing but a Nintendo fanboy's response to Microsoft and Sony fanboys. And the prattle of one fanboy to the next doesn't feel like anything groundbreaking to me. ![]() -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I think that even if the Revolution is amazing, people will still neglect it because of the name "Nintendo".
I love my GC, but alot of people dont. I feel that Nintendo is still the greatest, and that I will always stay with them. I feel that even if Nintendo becomes slowly unpopular, I will stay with it to the end.
Sony may have slightly more potential, but Nintendo will always be my favorite, and not just for their games. the Nintendo Power magazine and the kinds of games that ninendo sells and advertises are great too. X-Box is actually quite good too (despite the numbers shown on the earlier site). Nintendo 64, GCN, DS, and Revolution (at its arrival) will always Reign my #1 Favorite! ![]() -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. I think Nintendo's problem was that it grew complacent.
In the beginning of the Nintendo era, the NES reigned supreme for years, virtually unchallenged. Then the Super Nintendo came along, and did amazingly well by building off of the success of the Nintendo name, and the competition being fairly new. That's where they started to slip. To me personally, they have never, and will never, reclaim the glory days that they experienced with the NES and SN. They got behind on the learning curve, both in data format for their games and in engine power for their consoles, but they figured that they would still be ok. Then Sony made a name for itself, and nintendo has started to fade into the sunset from then on out. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

I agree with R51 about the writer being two-bit and having glossed over the article.
