I remember when I first played, I had hard time on every single place in WoR, but that was when I didn't know about the dino forest.
Would you consider FFVI hard if you don't level up in Dinosaur forest? I would....although I hadn't tried it these days. (Especially the fanticts tower...omg...) -------------------- I will be there... |

well it certainly would add a bit more of a challenge, but the game wouldnt be too much harder. i think the most difficult part would indeed be the fanatics tower, but thats unless you found a different place to lvl, with a decent (ap?, i cant remember, it's been a little while) flow.

Hrmmm...I've never bothered to level up in FF6 and I still found it to be decently easy, with the only hard part being the underground castle thingy that you find in Figaro in WoR. Â Even Fanatics tower was extremely easy, if you knew what you were doing.
Oh, yeah, it was Exp for levels in 6 ZH |

Probably not. Although you're deprived of huge amounts of XP, Magic XP, and the Economizer, there are other places you could build.
The only one that comes to mind is the desert directly south of Maranda, where you come into regular fights with Hoovers and Cactrots. Fighting a Hoover gives you a chunk of XP and a decent amount of Magic XP, though the fight can be pretty tough. (A double auto-counter of Sandstorm is not fun, unless you have Earth-resistant gear.) And of course, Cactuar give you a whopping 10 Magic XP and a whole lot of gold. So it's not all that bad. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Hoover is not difficult at all, in fact you can just cast Doom and be done with it. Â Sand Storm is Wind-elemental, they both give the same GP, and the Economizer is attainable at the Collosseum by stealing from the Aquila, who you meet by betting the Strato, so I have no idea what you're going on about by including the Economizer here. Â Also, both Cactrot and Hoover are vulnerable to Roulette, which is good news for Gau and Gogo fans (Veteran Rage).
Also, the game would just be more of a pain in the ass for levelling up due to boredom, since the plains beside the forest are just as good, if not a better training ground since most enemies can't use spells against you, and the only one that does can only use a spell in a certain instance which can be easily avoided by killing everyone at once. Â They too give massive Exp (4x Tumbleweed gives 10216, 2x Sprinter and 2x Spek Tor give 7298Â), so taking out the forest really isn't too much a problem if you're willing to invest a little more time than normal. -------------------- |

Leave it to ZED to set me straight! Honestly, sometimes I wonder how and why you take the time to know all this crazy stuff. Â
![]() I've never tried using Doom on a Hoover, mostly because I ignore the spell in the FF games. Â (It never really worked for me, and Vanish/Doom is too cheap.) Â And, come to think of it, it must be Wind Elemental. Â Using some sort of Earth absorbing protective item would give me HP, but a person equipped as such would cut the attack's damage to 0 HP, which makes sense. Â The gear would absorb its title element, and then negate the opposite element (since Wind is the elemental counterpart to Earth). Â Wouldn't you know it. And, I never tried Stealing from an Aquila (mostly because I dislike Locke, and the ThiefKnife isn't so great), so I didn't think about that. Guess you learn something new every day. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. I don't level up in the Dinosaur Forest, I level up on the island upon which Doma Castle resides. If you stay on the grassy area and cast vanish on yourself, nothing there can hit you except for the rare casting of LifeShaver by the Tumbleweeds. The enemies there give amazing experience if you send people solo. ZED already mentioned the experience from the Tumbleweeds, but other groups of enemies there give around 7500 experience, and when doubled with the Exp. Egg, levels up are quite common.

Yeah sure there are plenty of places that you can go to to get a lot of levels and experience, but what really pays off in the game are AP. Without those you can't learn those top-notch spells. The desert with the Cactrots are a great place to learn spells without gaining too many levels, which really makes the game more fun.
As far as I know, you can find the Aquila in the Phoenix Cave too. Can't remember exactly. |

Aquila can be met on the top floor, however the battle is a rare one and a lot of people end up unable to find it before they give up in frustration, hence why the Collosseum is much better for Economizer theft.

It's all about knowing where to go. Sure, the game is totally nonlinear once you acquire the Airship in the WoR, but (for example) going to the inside of the Zone Eater or Odin's castle right away isn't a good idea - you'll get aced right away. Excluding the use of the Moogle Charm, certain areas are almost off-limits until later on... but that said, each area is completely beatable if one takes the time to do the other areas first.
I don't ever touch the dino forest, nor any of the other heavy exp areas - I find mindless exp. boosting to be stupid and a waste of my time. And I've beaten 100% of the WoR without too much difficulty. -------------------- I close my mouth now and I scream, Open the door, there's nothing worth redeeming I saw your face before in rough, You should wait around a while, your body's bound to turn up. I never knew about Dino Forest level up capabilities, I only knew about Broncs and Economizers.
The tower was easy because I knew about Ultima, Gem Box, Quick combo and the famous Moogle Charm. I always leveled up in the desert below that town, you know the one with the Carrets. Whatever, WoR was hard in the beginning because I had no idea that leveling up was a good idea to do in the first world. -------------------- "The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings." |

i was usually at a high enough level by the time i got to kefkas tower that i didnt really need to visit the dinosaur forest. although i would recommend going there to pick up some economizers, EXP, and GP, i dont think its relaly necessary at all.

Actually, first run through the game, I walked into the Dinosaur Forest just to get myself slaughtered. And just after I got a bunch of rages on the Veldt, too...
![]() I don't think the game would be much harder, except that you can't always just keep selecting "Fight" for everyone, and cure spells start becoming really handy. And I figure using Osmose is pretty darn effective for restoring your MP, in case you don't have an Economizer. Yeah, I knew what I was doing in Fanatics Tower. Wall Rings, everyone! Actually, I had the most trouble in Kefka's Tower, especially those stupid ninja people who can kill people instantly. ![]() |

I don't really think so.
I usually get magic points in the Cactuar/Hoover desert. Â I hunt for magic points alot and just level up there I guess. Â Besides the Dino forest is tough, but only when you fight a pincer attack ::shudder:: or the Bracheosaur. Â (Tip:Just go nuts with Ice3 or better yet Ultima. Â Just save often in that forest!) Oh yeah! Get Force armor/shields or thunder shields to protect against sand storm. It's wind elemental. And use the Scimitar and Ice 3, that'll take down any Hoover quick. Use Offering and sniper sight against cactaurs, or drill! -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Brachoaurs oh how weak they truly are... i'm in the process of levelinb up my characters, i max them out one at a time, so my attention to who has what level bonuses isn't divided... my strategy improves each game i do this in, and i'm currnetly using edgar as my power man who does all the work while the person i'm leveling up just reaps the benefits. i have him with the offering economizer and the Atma Weapon. so at lvl. 99 with max hp... he does max damage all four hits... so after that, all the brochosaurs death requires is little ice here and there, or maybe another go from the atma weapon. sdm -------------------- ?gnisufnoc siht sI |

Actually, in WoB I found a nearly perfect place for magic points. Just go to where the phantom train is, and in the part of the phantom forest with the healing spring, rapidly walk back and forth and hold A, having everyone fight. post-airship, the battles are incredibly easy, and you have a spring if you somehow get wounded. although you usually fight ghost/poplium for 1 magic point, you sometimes fight ghosts solo for 3. holding fast forward helps on an emulator. I found it much better then intangir, since you can hold FastForward and A and pay attention to other things.

you can cast doom on intangir but just be careful cause then intangir will cast meteo on the person that doomed him.

Well considering the Intangir is only in the WOB and the only esper that teaches X-Zone is Fenir which you get in the WOR, it is quite impossible to use X-Zone on Intangir unless you have some cheat in the game. -------------------- War is for the participants a test of character; it makes bad men worse and good men better. - Joshua Chamberlain U sir R a n00b >:-( - Cactuar |

I would have to say, sure, it's probably a little tougher without leveling up in the Dino Forest or off of Tumbleweeds, but I always level up into the upper ranges every time I play.
I find your grammar skills wanting. ![]() The Rhodox rage casts Snare? Best try that next time then... but I digress. I used the Intangir this last game to have every party member's magic up to spec. before I went to the WoR, so that they already had most of the magic learnable. I think Intangir should be a very useful resource for those of us (insane) players who are trying to get all the magic they can without leveling up, since one gains Magic Points but no Exp. Points, and especially with Gau or Mog's Snare magics. -------------------- ~Status Report~ * Completed... Dragon's Head * Completed... ultima from maduin? (it must be one of the old post)
I heard from topic "what's best place to lvl in wor" that monsters near doma castle gives you lots of experience. It's not first time for me to hear that. How much exp do they give you compared to dino forest? -------------------- I will be there... |

Not sure how much by comparison....but the real advantage is that only 1 monster has 1 attack that can hit an invisable character, so you can send in 1 low lvl char with phantom and have no real worries about them dying. 1 char with exp egg near doma lvls up about 1/fight untill around lvl 45 when it becomes 3 lvls every 4 fights or so.
