I usually play PSX games on my PC using an emulator. For one thing, my PC runs my games faster than my PSX (which is great for games like Tactics). For another, being able to savestate anywhere is great when you can't get to the nearest save spot. And hey, beats swinging back and forth between the TV and the PC to check on mIRC and other programs.

My new Tactics game was going along quite well and I was nearing the end of chapter one when I hit a glitch that caused my game to freeze while trying to perform Chakra with my monk. I savestated instead of loading and lost my game to it, and my backup was still a few battles away (and I ended up losing a few thousand JP per character, which was just terrible.) Not one to be discouraged, I figured I'd work my way back up.

I gave everyone basic skills (I mastered Squire for everyone within a few fights) and fought a random encounter. Took me a short while to beat all but one enemy. I had everyone in my party accumulate, except Ramza who yelled at himself over and over until he started getting multiple turns in a row. I then had him yell at everyone while they kept using accumulate. Soon enough, everyone was getting 2-3 turns before the single enemy, and it was rather easy to run away from it.

Needless to say, my JP skyrocketted quite rapidly. I was quite pleased. The fight ended when I got careless and let the enemy hit one of my characters, who counter-tackled it for a whopping 300+ damage. Pretty much everyone had mastered their current class.

So what's YOUR best battle, JP-wise?

In mandalia plains, and you've got the exact way I train listed right there

(Everyone mastered Chemist in one battle ^-^)

Training/mastering jobs makes the 'hard' missions really simple.
(IE: Fighting Wiefgraf (Sp?) near the windmill, he's like lev. 8 - 9 while Ramza is lev. 34 o.o)

Accumulate/yell works wonders.

Made Ramza master Knight and gained about 15 levels in the process. I love how yell always nets 10 exp.

I'd say Yell practically unbalances the whole game. I remember having a really rough time during the one-on-one fight with Wiegraff until I started using Yell every turn and running around the room to avoid him. After a while I was running circles around him and the fight was a joke.

Anyhow, Yell is definitely the best JP-gaining tool the game has to offer. Stick Ramza in a corner, have him yell on himself until he starts getting insane amounts of turns, yell to everyone in your party until they get insane turns, then have everyone accumulate. You can technically master every job within just a few dozen battles this way (excluding abilities that can only be learned through having them cast on you, such as ultima...)

Great trick. An other good one is to have five monks in a + formation casting chakra over and over. In fact, give 'em counter and you can pretty much win any battle so long as you don't get hit by something that kills you in one blow.

My best was probably ~500, maybe a little under that. I'd rather play than just sit there grinding JP, the game's easy enough as it is. To each his/her own, I suppose.

Now lets see my best was probly in chapter one when my monk was a master in two battles and the rest of my party watched as he killed every last knight with his awesome power. ever since then he's been unstopible.

My best JP haul would be mastering (save Zodiac) summoner in a single battle.

Good grief. How long did that take you? I think the best JP haul I ever had the patience to do was about 500 JP.

By keeping only one enemy alive, having Ramza yell at everyone, and the rest of the party accumulate, you can master every character's current job in roughly a half hour to an hour. So long as you run away from the enemy at all times (especially if your party can counterattack or countertackle. It sucks having racked up all but ~200-300 points to master your job when suddently your puny mage (who has now accumulated enough to do 500+ damage) decides to counter and end things right there.)

You can easily master any job with Ramza by having him yell at himself over and over. Within a few rounds, he'll be getting 20+ turns before anyone else can do anything. 20 x ~40 JP = 800 every turn. Probably 24-25 x 40 afterwards, then 30, and so forth...

Well Weigraff... betcha weren't expecting to be surrounded by samurais, huh? smile.gif

Well, it took and hour or yell/accumulate on the highest building in Fort Zeakden, (Man, Algus and those knights running around below me musta been PISSED when they found they couldn't reach me.... Well, Algus could, but he didn't for some reason) but I had Ramza master 'Theif' in 1 battle! Honestly, I entered the battle with only 'Steal Gil' and left with over 5000 JP! (Which was right around what I needed to master it)

By the time I jumped down off the roof, I had my monk throw a rock at Algus, 999 damage! (What the hell? Did he throw a brick or something? o.o)

Easy mastering at ... Bariaus Valley, I think. It's a river separating two sides, with one spot in the middle. Make sure you get in a battle with a panther of some sorts, stick someone in the middle, and get everyone else on the side without the panther. Accumulate to your heart's content. Everyone masters classes that way. I'm sure I've had battles that grabbed 1500 JP for each person.

Same strategy works at Lenalia Plateau (I think -- whichever one has water in the corners). Just get everyone in the water away from any edges and kill everything but a panther, and accumulate.

I was doing an immensely powerful random battle at Grog Hill with my Chemist, Dancer, and T.G. Cid and Agrias to protect them. I also had a Time Mage. I kept having everyone use Accumulate(with the exception of Cid and Agrias) and they all had Gained JP UP so at the end of the battle with 2000+ JP for everyone of the generic characters. The dancer mastered, and the Time Mage learned Meteor and Teleport. I kept using Stop on the enemy and it kept doing so. During this time I had the Dancer keep using Witch Hunt until the battle ended. smile.gif

i came up with this after thinking about how i could jp up without having to sit there.

you can do a few things:

if you are playing on a ps1/2 you can go into the settings and set it to the last action and put a rubberband on the controller and just accumulate or chakra a gajillion times - uberwaste tho bc u get 0 jp for chakra if it doesnt restore anything. also, that means u need to battle skill debuff the others also beforehand.

this works if yer using a ps1/2 or psxemu - i call it frogger

basically frog everyone. even your own characters. how do you do this?

use a wizard or calculator with frog learned as someone's 2nd class. basically frog the entire enemy team. then battle skill them down to 1 pa. if you have someone with dance this gets faster. then frog your entire team and set them to auto-battle (fight for life) against various enemies. then go do the dishes or your laundry or work out or something. you'll only ever need to check back once in a while to make sure no one collected a chest or gem.

if you are using the wizard skillset, you need to have the wizard frog himself first (you can cast frog while frogged) and then someone with some a restore mp skill should be the last person to be frogged bc your wizard has 12+ mp he will unfrog himself.

if you use someone with math skill, it's even easier. first round have them do a CT5-Dont Move. this means pretty much no one can move. that means your wuss ass characters cant get touched. you are free to single out stuff with the math skill and frog it as necessary (dont worry about frogging your own - just your frogger).

i thought about adding in golem so you dont have to battle skill for so long, but golem wears out too fast. im at the beginning of chapter 3 after getting mustadio (i recommend waiting for mustadio and agrias at least) and i have ramza, mustadio, agrias, and 2 random guys all level 99 with 99 exp and ramza has mastered everything except summoner (he cant get ultima yet - its not chapter 4, and no summoner bc zodiac). the other 4 have almost everything mastered. only thing is that the randoms around lev 50 or so are going to be friggin hard bc your enemies are badass but you still cant even by x potions til later in chapter 3. for the longest while i couldnt even buy hi-potions.

the idea is with the frogger you get retarded jp (5k-8k per battle and its more noticeable if you set everyone to the same prime class), AND you dont even have to sit at the keys/controller. you just have to check back every now and then to see that you didnt get a crystal or something.

and when you are level 99 stealing from staged fights (as opposed to random fights) you pretty much have !fail steal bc enemies are like level 30 and you're 99.
welcome to team god.

Lordy Lordy Lordy...

Well, after I set the battle up perfectly so nobody could kill anyone, I put everyone on autobattle and went to sleep. When I woke up, I had somewhere around 4,000- 5,000 JP.

Aren't you exegerating a bit?

The maximum damage with Martial Arts and 99 PA would be 297 dam, even if it would be Zodiac compatible and with attack UP, it wouldn't reach as far as 999.

by far, the most JP I got per character in a battle was 9999JP... x5 = 49995JP
unsure.gif It's not raelly like I'm proud of it it's just that my characters were on auto-fight laugh.gif

Well,I would personally have to go with inside riovanes and fightin wiegraf.I eqquiped chameleon robe on ramza,so wiegraf could'nt hit me with lightning stab biggrin.gif I ran around the room accumalating power and yelling, until ramza's streagth was at 70%,and speed 10. biggrin.gif Then,I killed him in one hit laugh.gif Then I killed velius in tow hits, before he could even touch me.This takes a long time, about 25 minutes, but its worth it to build up JP. biggrin.gif and gain about 5 or 6 levels biggrin.gif

Because,it would just take extra time and longer to do.I know it would be awsoeme to have 50 speed, but there's really no point in taking a longer time to do it.U know what I mean, right? I mean velius has only 8 or 9 speed right? So,just one more above him should do the trick, but that's just me
