rubicant and valvalis are my favourite element fiends too.
zeromus is indeed a freaky pile of meteo, if we consider only his image. ![]() |

I always thought Kain was the best villain in this one.
A close second might be Zemus. -------------------- I'm the root of all that's evil yeah, but you can call me cookie. -BHG FF3DS friend code: 4424-8076-6097 |

Rubicant, definitely. The consumate true warrior, he heals your party beforehand to ensure a fair fight (though it's still 5 on 1......) He's less of a villain in that sense (not maniacal, cheap, truly evil) as he is just a decent guy who's maybe fighting for the evil side (a la General Leo in 6)--he has honor, just not fighting the good fight..

and rubicant now is in the lead! i agree he is an impressive character, like a honest devil who fights for evil cause it is expected from him, however he seems not really to agree on that.
but, he could as well heal your party cause of pure arrogance, thinking you could never beat him anyways. ![]() in that case that would make him a true villain. however so far i go with golbez, he is one of the most fun villains. |

My vote went to Rubicant. I like the fact that he heals ya before the fight...regardless of his motives behind it.
On a side note....I am about to fight him in the Dawn of Souls dungeon. |

I thought the Dark Elf was cool. What other enemy forces you to drop all metal? Who else has that kind of power? He had no known motives, so we can only guess why he took it.

It was a close call between Zemus and Rubicant but Zemus won. Zemus was a smart cookie and was the pupet master behind it all. Both are things I can't say about Rubicant, healing you before both fights. What kind of brilliantly evil planing is that? And Rubicant couldn't even controll Dr. Lugae if what he says is true. That means he definately isn't a pupet master. Don't get me wrong I like Rubicant, he just isn't the best bad guy in my opinion. I would have considered Golbez but
Possible spoilers: highlight to view The others I just didn't like. They were all too flat and stereotyical too me. He wasn't realy a bad guy, at least not anymore then Kain was. -------------------- |

Golbez:
Possible spoilers: highlight to view He really was a bad guy, that is why zemos could easily controlled him, though he is a powerful beeing. that said, he seeked revenge cause zemus did control the evil in him, but pushed him into a certain direction that was only in favour of zemus. also, golbez is weak against holy damage and cecil could not hurt him with the death sword or hurt him at all as DK, it was one of the reasions why cecil had to become a paladin and receive the light. |

I think my favourite villian has to be Golbez with Rubicant as a close second. I always liked the dynamics between Golbez and Cecil and Golbez's struggle to remain to his path of badness (which was the opposite of Cecil's journey). Rubicant has to be the most nobel bad guy I can think of in video game-dom. He really appeals to me in that way that he's not your typical bad guy.

Close call between Golbeze and Rubicant, for all the obvious reasons. In fact, I can't choose, so I'll null vote.
A close second would be Zeromus, simply because he was (as far as I remember) the first final boss to ever make me go "What the merry old Hell is that?" -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. Zemus/Zeromus, because he was the master mind behind everything in the game.

While Golbez is cool, Zemus is the puppetmaster, and Rubicant is honorable, I had to go with Baigan. He was funny. Who else offers to join your party and then 5 seconds later tries to kill you??

Baigan:
Possible spoilers: highlight to view And Baigan was hard too, especially near the end when his armswill explode in your face! was quite harsh at those low levels there. honestly i had more trouble to keep my party members alive against him than against zeromus, counting in not stealing dark matter and playing the hard type version |

Rubicante man! He rocks!
I think his reasons for healing you before the fight are: "hmmm...quick fight = boring fight.... you guys! Heal up and fight me!" I thought Scarmaglione was pretty rad, just because I totally wasn't expecting it, and it took me YEARS to figure out just what his undead sprite was doing, exactly. All the fiends are cool though...Barbaccia's cool but considering she has absolutely NO story whatsoever, just appears out of nowhere and attacks you, that kinda detracts from it. Sorry if my using the original names is annoying/geeky, but I'm reading the Divine Comedy right now and can't resist.

Come on, fellows. Zemus may have been a rip-off of a villain, but it was pretty cool to see Golbez and FuSoYa Meteoing his bald ass. He was a nasty fella with a pretty realistic goal: get rid of all the people on earth so the Lunarians could live there. At least he's a patriot.
Oh, and Dr. Lugae: the original, more entertaining, and more horror-producing Hojo. -------------------- Some ghost of me might greet my son the day he is delivered. Eternal Sleep, Track 1-1: The Blue Planet |
