I don't recall this being done yet, and nothing similar popped up when I searched, so if it's already been done then whoops.
Anyhoo, is there a particular area in this game - be it a specific town, cave, the airship(s), an armor shop, whatever - you really like. It could be somewhere you're always looking forward to revisiting in the game or just some place you know you'd hang out at if, for some reason, you were ever sucked into the game. For me, well, despite how many "cooler" and more important places there are in the game, I don't think any of them beats the awesome that is the Narshe Moogle cave (WoB). -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. I don't know why, but I always look forard to getting to Zozo. I know it's a crappy town since you can't shop and there's random battles, but I always loved it when I first played the game because it brought out the hoarder in me. You can steal goggles from those GreaseMnky pallete swaps, atlas Armlets from Gigas, Dragoon boots from Harvester, something from Slam Dancers, etc. I'd get to that point in the game and build my fortune from stolen dragoon boots.

I would have to say when your in Vector and the Magitek Factory. Great music, good fights, and a hell of a twist in the storyline.

Area? How about areas?
Zozo: The famous 'wrong' town. It's like a ghost town, without the ghosts, but with strange beings instead. And the music (especially when played on an old SNES9x) is great. One of my favorite places to mess around in. Kefka's Tower: Fun exploring, fun battling. And Doma Castle would have been a lot more interesting, had there been people around...how sad. ![]() This post has been edited by Glenn Magus Harvey on 2nd April 2005 19:59 -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Figaro was always pretty cool to me... a castle in the middle of a desert, kind of the Saharan/Middle Eastern sort of vibe mixed brutally with a mideaval castle. Then it turns out to be a submersable vehicle? Even cooler.
Then Doma was pretty cool since it was the closest to fudal Japan the game ever got. There should have been some samurais in the game there. -------------------- |

I really liked Darryl's Tomb. It was an entertaining dungeon that added an interesting side to Setzer's personality. Plus, I really like the cave music in FF 6, so it was easy on the ears, too.

Though I loved the blackjack, I'd have to say the falcon is my favorite area. The inside had a very personal feeling, especially the little room that only contained a window and chair. It was like Setzer's home, and it felt cozy and thoughtful, kinda pensive.
[commenting on the post below] Though it was certainly clever, GP stealing monsters definitly take it off my list of 'favorite places.' This post has been edited by Iain Peregrine on 2nd April 2005 21:01 |

I always liked the Veldt
![]() I also like the opera house. Again, catchy tunes, and a great setting for some of the most priceless scenes in the game. Nothing better than fighting a giant purple octopus on a stage. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

The floating continent is my favorite area, and I'm always sad that I can only go there once during the course of the game. The landscape is fascinating (it's one big maze), the music is spellbinding, and the battles are quite challenging (especially the dramatic battle with the Atma Weapon). It is also host to the climactic duel between Gestahl and Kefka and the cataclysmic events that follow.
I also like the Ancient Castle. Being able to actually go back in time and witness the War of the Magi was pretty cool. -------------------- "I will create a monument to nonexistence!!" "The end comes ... beyond chaos." ~ Kefka, Final Fantasy VI |

1. Fanatics Tower, near the top: Tons of Magic Points without experiance points. I don't like overleveling but I do like having massive quanitys of magical ability. This place allows me to controll the inflow of both experiance and MP equally. 2. Opera House WOR: I like beating mythical creatures exactly as soon as I can get an airship. (Gaia Gear works wonders on the only monster there) 3. Vector: From the Invincalbe Gaurdian to the MagiTek Factory, the Imperial Palace to a Inn with a shiester plus free healing and even Kefka sitting on a prison toilet, Vector has it all. There are just so many reasons to like this place that I can't even list them all. 4. WoB Thamasa. Because it's a lively and cool place. The WoR version is neat too but it's so lifeless. 5. Jidor auction house. Zoneseek and Golem are worth every red cent you spend on them. Also, who doesn't like getting frustrated at losing every Imp Robot, Talking Chocobo and model airship in sight. Okay, you got me but it's still funny as all heck. That kid's father must owe a grand total of aproximatly 999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 gil by now. Will he ever go broke? Misc stuff that coudln't quite fit. Any place in the WoB in which you can get free stuff without a random battle nearby. This can include but isn't limited to the house in Narshe, the second Imperial Base, the rich guys basement and more. I like free stuff and in the WoR the Moggle Charm makes random battles optional anyway. -------------------- |

I always liked the Esper world, and wished there had been more scenes there and opportunity to wander around. I liked the way it was isolated from the normal world, its own little paradise tucked away from everything else. I guess I just go for that far-end-of-the-world type place where nothing's going on and the problems of the world never seem to get there (except when a truckload of troopers drop in for a visit... hmm). If I lived in the WoR, I'd be like Duncan, little place to myself far away from Lights of Judgement and all that other "big city" nonsense.
This topic is actually something I've thought about a lot before. I could spend the rest of my days wandering around some small sprite-filled city saying the exact same thing over and over to people, wandering aimlessly, acting like the evil world dictator of the hour didn't exist. Yep, that'd be the life.. |

For me, it'd have to be Vector.
You've been hearing about the evil Empire for the whole game, their evil deeds, what they've done to the world, and it's citizens who rage war on the countries of the planet. So, I couldn't wait to get to the capital of this place. What's it like there? What about the people? It turns out that most of the Imperial citizens are just normal people, with a different, if not a little ignorant outlook on the war. The presentation of Vector as shown by the PSX version FMV made me like it even more. -------------------- //www.rpgmaker.net/ We make games. Period. |

Narshe - For its sombre atmosphere. It's the same in either the WoB and in the WoR. Some steamin' machines, coldness, "industriality"...
Zozo - Very funny, outlaw town. More of a dungeon. Even the guy who's laying on the ground, "Nice people here, eh?". Hehehe. The music is the icing on the cake. Also, the chainsaw is surely some item worth to obtain for Edgar. Figaro Castle - A castle which submerges and travels, indeed, very cool. Nice visual scenes there (Sabin and Edgar) and some cheap items. Returners Hideout - Somehow, it felt like home. ![]() All areas in the beginning of the World of Ruin - Possible spoilers: highlight to view The desolation that radiates from the landscapes, the enemies that are dying while fighting you, the scene where Celes takes the raft and ends up in this changed world, where you walk past Kefka's tower... And how the story develops further from there... Either way if Cid dies or not, both the visuals are good. It really gave my attention and concentration on the game an extra boost! Oh Hell, I like every area. Except for the Phoenix Cave, and some other harder areas. ![]() This post has been edited by DemonSeed on 4th April 2005 01:50 -------------------- |

jidoor, and the opera house
jidoor was what i considered the main "big city" place (almost every game has one) where one can buy what they want and explore to their heart's content. the auction house was wonderful ![]() the opera house is by favourite part of the storyline in WoB, and the impresario was just cracked ![]() -------------------- Yes... this world is filled with both Light and Darkness, though how long this delicate Balance will last I don not know. |

This game has so many cool places, but I'll have to go with the Serpent Trench. Knowing that once you jump in there's no going back and then being swept far far away is quite a rush. The underwater battle background is beautiful, the music fits the scene perfectly and the enemies are actually somewhat challenging (mostly Aspik with that nasty Giga Volt). Plus, being able to use Gau for the first time in a normal combat situation is totally awesome.

Opera House....best fight in the game, for one thing, but mainly...are there any other opera houses in any other rpg's that anyone's aware of? Stroke of genius.
