How many times have you played a game, beaten it, then expect to get a realy cool ending video, see it and then say "I waisted 50 hrs of my life for this?!"
I really hate that but i have played games where the ending movie was very rewarding. FF9 was one of these. The worst game ending was GTA2. You get your cash goal, cruse over to your hideout, enter it and get the load screen with a simple "This game complete." ![]() What was, in your opinion, was the best and worst game ender for you? -------------------- A hero is somone who steps up when everyone else backs down. FF IX has to be up there for best game endings, and it's my favorite FF ending, but I have to give it to Skies of Arcadia. It was immensely satisfying and also gave an epilogue for each major character (and for all the crew members you recruited).
As for worst, GTA 2 sounds pretty bad, but I haven't played it (GTA games never did it for me). I'll say Golden Sun, whose ending wasn't bad per se, but it was the most blatant "If you wanna see how the series ends buy the next one" ploy I've ever seen. I still haven't finished The Lost Age. -------------------- |

Parasite eve II, will be the answer, at least was worth of my effort, also suiloden II the final ending, but answering the question I´ll say the whole endings in MK3, I played it too many times to see the worst endings possibles ever.Nothing more apropiatte come to my mind right now.

FFVI will still always be my favorite ending to a game. Some runner up would be FFIX, FFX-2, Jak2 and Jak3. The worst in my opinion was FFVII and FFTA, they both pissed me off so much, especially FFTA. When I think of all the batteries I wasted for THAT ending.

FFVII's ending sucked. I was expecting a good fight between Cloud and Sephiroth and instead it's like "select this limit break OMG Seph = dead", and then the end movie was nothing memorable (which is why I can't remember it
![]() Many NES games are insanely hard and have really lame endings to reward you for your hard work, sweat and tears. "You saved the world, congratulations! Thanks for playing! Now the game is going to completely freeze and you have to press reset! If you wanted something more than this, too bad!" My favorite game ending is the one in the original Star Fox. It's the coolest presentation of credits ever, and reviewing the bosses you beat along the way is really cool too... and everything else. -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! Terranigma and Chrono Trigger's myriad endings tie for the best.
Worst ending would be... probably Magic Knights Rayearth. The ending was just lame. -------------------- And behold, I saw a Pale Gaming System, and the name of he who rode it was Squaresoft, and Enix followed him. |

Final Fantasy X has probably my favorite ending of all time. Tragic and beautiful, it brings the story to an impressive conclusion, and the fantastic graphics do well to illustrate the scene as vividly as possible.
A close second would be the ending to Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark. Though relatively simplistic, the sheer number of branching possibilities it presents is incredible, and it really says a lot about the freedom you have in the game as a whole. I'll also add in all of the endings to the Zelda and Mario games, if only for nostalgia's sake. I can't think of the worst ending at the moment, considering the sheer number of early games that pretty much just gave you a pat on the back and a credit roll. Quote (i90east @ 1st April 2005 21:28) FFVII's ending sucked. I was expecting a good fight between Cloud and Sephiroth and instead it's like "select this limit break OMG Seph = dead" Or just don't press anything and he'll counter with it anyway, which makes the whole player-interaction bit kinda pointless. FFVI's and IX's endings are both my favorites of that series, but my absolute favorite would probably be EarthBound's ending. Just for being able to wander around even after the game's technically over, and the part regarding Pokey at the very end. Honorable mention goes to Katamari Damacy, 'cause never before has a game's opening and ending scenes made me feel like I just downed a truckload of illicit substances. In other words, I don't think it's possible to watch those cinematics and not walk away happy and feeling a li'l drugged. For worst, I'd say the ending of Super Mario Bros. 3. Great game, of course, but the Princess' line "Thank You. But our princess is in another castle! Just kidding! Ha Ha Ha! Bye-bye." just really ruined the moment. Bad joke there, Nintendo. I still can't figure out how the hell she managed to escape from castle to castle in SMB1. I don't want to be reminded of my obvious lack of brain power. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. Katamari's ending was just funky, but the opening is absolutely wonderful. It's the one opening to a game that I never skip when I turn it on. Another disappointing ending: Devil May Cry. One of my favorite 3D action games ever, with a super-awesome multi-tiered final boss battle, and then it completely takes a different direction and almost goes chick-flick. VIII still gets my vote for 'best game ending ever'. Although Tekken 3 really tested that with most its endings.
Tekken 4 gets worst ending(s)... After the awesomeness of the endings in Tekken 2 and 3, 4 totally let me down with bland boring endings containing more text than texture and more words than action. -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

One of the best endings was definitely FFX.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view Parasite Eve has a bad ending after all that time I wasted on it training like crazy in the Museum to take on the ridiculously weak battle against Tyrannosaur and the weakest version of Eve was her final one, the Angel of Death one. It's so easy to evade her attacks even without Haste... The Ultimate Being was extremely tough for me at Level 50 and I spent the most points boosting Atk on my shotgun. It's actually somewhat mediocre ending for me. Finally, Tidus is gone and then... X-2... -------------------- Yunalesca: "Hope is...comforting. For actual best ending, I have a few candidates
Command and Conquer(Original): NOD Ending Possible spoilers: highlight to view After a comically bizzare hacking sequence, you wind up in control of the Ion Cannon, and have four taregts to flatten: the White House, Houses of Parliament (in London) the Brandenburg gate, or the Eiffel tower. I liked this as it was the first ending I had seen that was interactive to some extent. Command and Conquer: Red Alert Allied Ending Possible spoilers: highlight to view Stalin is choked to death with a sock and buried under rubble. So wrong it was awesome. MGS3 Possible spoilers: highlight to view Rather emotional and kinda freaky with the whole 'field of white turning red' thing. For worst ending, probably GTA2. GTA at least had a little sequence which was kind of okay, but GTA2 had zip. For another "worst ending" , FF X-2, if one regards the entire game as an extended ending for FFX. ![]() -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

Hm I never got the real ending for Parasite Eve, I waited until the 2nd time I believe (where the game gets harder in each one) and I couldn't get past that Queen Bee boss on the 70th floor I think. Anyway...
Best Endings: FFVI, FFIX (though it's kind of long), FFV, Kingdom Hearts, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic and Knuckles Worst Endings: FFVIII, Vampire Night -------------------- |

Best ending: Final Fantasy V
One of the sweetest moments in the entire game. Worst (i.e. most disappointing) ending: Castlevania 1 What I get for beating the game: a partial credits list, a view of Dracula's castle being destroyed, and an insanely difficult hard version (which I've heard has provides no additional perks if beaten). Other good ones include Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Final Fantasy VI, etc.... Other sucky ones include Kirby Superstar, Volley Fire, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (SNES). Edit: fixed a bold tag. I could never beat Frankenstein on Castlevania's hard version, so I have no idea if there are new perks or not. But yeah, for a game that was so difficult in parts, there really wasn't enough of a cool ending. However, I didn't think that the endings to Dynablade or Meta-Knight sequences in Superstar were so bad, but I haven't seen the ending to the 100% version, because I missed a few (probably several) treasures in the Great Cave Offensive.

But the ending isn't that great. Ending Description follows: Possible spoilers: highlight to view Kirby zooms away on a star, and then you see him sleeping in bed, then the credits roll. My favorite game endings are FFT and FFIX. Both endings are the best FF endings from what I've played thus far, and make me wanna play sequels, prequels, or re-play it again.

Best ending - FFI, atleast, as it was on NES. "That Light Warrior was... you!" Cheesy text rules so much. As for the worst, well, I hardly ever complete what I start, and games are no exception, so I don't have much experience, but Tekken Tag's character endings were severely lacking.

SPOILERS ABOUND!
Game: Ghosts 'n' Goblins I can't unspoiler them when they're quoted, and pretty much the entire post is spoilers. (Well, not like the rest of this thread wasn't.) So I just finished playing through Capcom's old (and extraordinarily difficult) NES game Ghosts 'n' Goblins. There's this screen that says: Quote THIS ROOM IS AN ILLUSION AND IS A TRAP DEVISUT BY SATAN. GO AHEAD DAUNTLESSLY! MAKE RAPID PROGRES! And then the game starts again. A friend was nice enough to tell me that that's not the real ending; there's a second ending after you beat the game TWICE. And even so, just a little scene in which Possible spoilers: highlight to view .<NeoRebel> Arthur meets the princess, a msg congratulations and that's it That takes the cake as the most disappointing ending ever. Edit: fixed a correct spelling. Ironically, I had written PROGRESS, and the actual spelling was PROGRES. (I'm not even going to talk about DEVISUT.) Yeah FF9 had one of the best endings ever, simply brilliant. ..FF7s ending could have been better but was still quite good in my opinion... I do like the little dideo camera ending for FF8, very entertaining.
Metal gear solid 2... what on earth was that all about in the ending? eh? really confused me big time. and I have to agree with Devil may cry and teken tag and 4 having pants endings. Tomb Raider didn't really bother with a final movie, if I recall. Which was probably a good idea! Seemed to work really well. Worst ending is..... devil may cry, probably. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Some of the best endings I've had are Final Fantasy VI (long, but I loved it and still love it to this day), Metal Gear Solid 3 (I wanna cry.
![]() ![]() Really crappy endings are Uplink: Hacker Elite (after putitng your eyes, fingers, and brain through a living hell trying to stop a damn virus, nothing... really... happens), Command & Conquer Generals (since they had no real story to begin with, so couldn't be any less predictable or unoriginal), and Act of War (watched my roommate play, he was defending his base at one moment, and then the next moment is a short, stupid cutscene that lasts about 15 seconds [nothing impressive in it], then goes straight to the credits). Out of all of these, I'd say Act of War is the worst. With all thethe effort they put into the live acting and drama stuff, you'd think they could make a decent ending.
