Ive heard for awhile that they are making a anime of ff7 or atleast the characters from ff7 have you guys heard of this?

No I havn't but if it does come out I bet it would be awsome. I mean it's square and the way FFVII AC is looking I'd say it's going to be cool.

Well, if you take Anime to mean it's absolute most literal definition as the japanese word for animation, then I guess Advent Children could count. . .

Okay, I haven't heard of it but it sounds cool if it's true. Allot of the characters could fit in perfectly in an anime and being a three disk game, I'm sure they could work with the plot more then most. Not to mention the characters wouldn't have to change much from thier original designs.

However, despite the coolness of this idea, I can't just shake the feeling that FF VII is going to die down in the same matter that pokemon did. I mean, there's just so much going on with it right now and with no time apart. It just seems like the exact same situation (on a somewhat smaller scale). Now remember you heard it here first, Cloud's popularity will die, Pikachu style. I think . . .

it's a shame that they have all of these spinoffs and everything over 5 years after the game has been released...i agree with tonepoet it may go down the same road as pokemon *shivers* fate worse than death i say

Meh. What they need to do is do it movie style (ei Ghost in the Shell) and split it up as a miniseries. Otherwise, who knows what kind of crazy things they could do, as was mentioned earlier in comparison to the dreaded Pokemon anime

I'm guessing Sqeenix would use the same team and/or animation styles as they did in Full Metal Alchemist, but maybe not. If done correctly, it could be a very good show (I'd be guessing Adult Swim on Saturday nights?)

There's no Final Fantasy VII Anime in production. Perhaps your sources were confusing the concept with the Anime previews for Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis. They featured no actual pictures of gameplay, but about a minute and a half of Anime scenes of the Turks and AVALANCHE members.

As for VII going the way of Pokemon, I don't think it will for the very simple reason that the writer for these FFVII works likely has an intended beginning and end in mind, with it being reasonably in-sight, rather than never in conception.

I can recall the project of making an anime version of a popular FFVII fanfiction series written by Frank Verderosa. They had two animators, voice actors (I was supposed to be the voice of Red XIII ), the whole nine yards. But it died out pretty soon since every single member of the project was in a different part of the country, especially the voices and the animators. They had trouble matching the Wavs we sent them up and getting propper lip syncing. In the end, they decided it was better to have no anime than to do a really crappy job, so the project was ended due to logistics.

Hang on a tick, it's kind of similar to pokémon in some ways, but not entirely, as I shall now attempt to prove...*
-Economic sucess.
-Became rather popular outside Japan as well as inside.
-Spawned a plethora of supplements, spin-offs,and sequels. Far too many.
-Has bright flashy colours and causes seizures.

And if we go with the idea of an anime...
-Spawned a cartoon.

And to expand on it even further
-People hate it's guts because of all the spin-offs.

And even further and ruder and vaguer.
-Spawned an awful lot of fan works, an awful lot of not very good fan works.
-Spawned a ton of suspicious and quite possibly illegal pornographic fan "works".

Where FF7 clearly (or vaguely) differs from Pokemon is the nice bit though.
-No annoying idiot lead character who you want to take a shotgun to. Well, in most cases. (People with shotguns are reminded Cloud is a close combat specialist and experienced soldier. That kid in pokemon isn't and will wet himself staring down a blue steel smoothbore tube or two.)
-You don't annoy the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and capture innocent animals in airtight containers and then make them fight each other. You simply kill them in self-defence lest they kill you/eat you/lay their eggs in you/turn you into something 'orrible (E.G a corpse) and annoy them less.
-People die.
-Other things die.
-Swords and guns and bombs and other things not to leave unattended in train stations.
-Swearing.
-Plot.
-Actual character development.
-People who can actually see rather than having their eyes perpetually closed.
-A Mr. T lookalike with a chaingun for a hand.
-Chain-smoking pilots.
-An Evil corporation. (Not evil criminal organisations hdiing behind fronts like, for example, that rocket mob, or microsoft.)

And back to the actual question at hand: An FF7 Anime would be okay I would hope, so long as it was not aimed at the under twelves or mentally challenged. If it's too cheesy, too silly, it would be bad. If they didn't change much, it would be good.

Of course, thats reliant upon the voice acting. They had better fit the character. We don't want some valley girl to play Tifa, and people who are actual anime fans may prefer the subtitled versions. The availablity of both would not be sneezed at.

And so long as they kept the fanservice to a minimum as the risk of it involving Barret is too great.
