I'm not sure what you mean exactly, but PSP seems to be doing pretty good and PS3 should be released this year or the next... Maybe you should restate the question...

Going by my recent issue of Game Informer, the PS3 is supposedly using a 4.6 GHz multi-processor called The Cell, a next-generation optical drive, and boasts 256+ GFLOPS. I'll admit, Sony seems to be promising a bit much, and we all know what happens when Sony makes promises.

![]() er... GFLOPS? what's that? Yup, I'm brave enough to admit my ignorance! (otherwise it's a lot more difficult to learn) Will it beat the Xbox2 in power or the gamecube2, or whatever they'll be called? Not that it's particularly important I guess. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Nintendo's Revolution is an enigma. Microsoft's XBOX 360 is being rushed out before PS3, and inevitably falls before the *new tech* rolls into full swing. XBOX 360 lacks a hard drive, will be smaller, and more like a PC.

X-Box 360? I thought it was the X-Box 2. But anyway, we won't know a whole lot about the next generation of consoles until E3. The PS3 will not be released this year, but the X-Box 2 might. Here's a fantastic article that talks about the next generation of consoles.
The PS3 is supposed to be a lot more developer friendly than the PS2 and will probably feature near photo-realistic graphics. It will probably have large third party support, although the X-Box 2 may be more competitive than the original X-Box and have a lot of third party support as well. Nintendo needs a miracle. 'might'. Might in the gaming world usually means won't... =P
It's a bash on getting the christmas sales but at the same time they know that if they release first there's a good chance Sony's PS3 will be more powerful. Personally I'll wait for the PS3. The X-Box has 'some' good games but the PS2 has MUCH better ones. Plus all the really good games are released on all consols anyway... -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

GameCube was quite unsuccessful despite its few great hits(Metroid, Paper Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Super Smash Bros. Melee) and I won't be surprised if Nintendo makes a new console and it fails miserably. There are already games in production that announced it won't be heading onto GameCube(Elder Scrolls IV, Condemned, SoulCalibur III).
Edit In response to Mu the Squirrel, that is very untrue. PS2 has the FF series, Dragon Warrior series, the first GTA ports, Tekken, Kingdom Hearts, Gran Turismo and Champions of Norrath, the big hits on PS2. Not to mention on multi-platformers, more effort is put into the PS2 version than the rest. Xbox may have the graphics but it has very few good games and usually they are released for PC, as well. er dude.. Mu was saying PS2 has the best games, so in fact you're agreeing with him (confused now)
I think they all have some great games but I only have a PS2. I think PS1 had better games than all these next generation consoles though. Tomb raider anyone? and the final fantasies were much better than 10... in my opinion (I still really enjoyed it though) ..ok I won't list them all, lol. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Quote Sony's in huge trouble right now. Check it out: Poor, poor, Sony.... Meh, I'm not worried. But I guess that means I should buy my second PS2 and some more controllers. That is, if it doesn't get overturned on appeal. -------------------- Elena Indurain Currently Playing: Suikoden II |

Haha, I knew that Sony was being sued, but I hadn't expected them to lose.
Jeez, some laws are so stupid. I can't say I agree with you on that one. I thought vibrating controllers were a great idea when I first heard about them. Sony nicked the idea and made huge amounts of money with it, without credit and whatnot. Patents are there to give you the kudos you deserve for your ideas. Ignoring it should equal doom. -------------------- |

My jaw hurts from dropping so much. Guys, if I'm reading this right, there might be no way to buy the new PS2 that Sony paraded around so much. This isn't a little trifle we're talking about here, this is Sony being screwed out of it's biggest source of income! If Sony loses anything more, we're going to be feeling the effects in the PS3 when Sony has to butcher it to afford releasing it!
$90.7 million may not sound like a lot when referring to a multi-billion dollar corporation, but that's roughly the salary of the CEO and an executive or two. You know what happens when a company loses money? The money that goes to the top-dogs isn't cut, but the money that goes to the low-end employees does. When corporations lose money, the first thing that goes is employees. Less employees means less production capacity, and we're not going to see as much coming from Sony. OR, Sony will price gauge to make up the loss. You might not see Sony products getting cheaper. $90,000,000 is just the tp of the iceberg. The PS2 is still a hot item, and if Sony actually does get prevented from selling it, that's it, a huge chunk of revenue is gone. I don't pity Sony, I pity US, because WE are the consumers who expect Sony to deliver product and service to us. |

man that's annoying, all because of some stupid vibrating controllers. I always thought they were silly anyway.
I guess Sony should have been more careful. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |
