I wonder if all of you know this already..., but i'll post it anyway
around April, in http://www.angelfire.com/empire/kr0/ there has a been a project started called KR (Kefka's Revenge) using Sphere engine. It is still beginning stages (but looks way far ahead compared to fls) and it has its first demo out. (but it doesn't have battle systems yet). Players get to play as villian and looks like they are planning to put Sephiroth and Magus (i'm still not sure about that though), but hey, just check it out ![]() -------------------- I will be there... |

I sincerely hope that site is a joke. I don't care how advanced their scripting appears to be, they haven't changed anything except some dialog and the placement of some sprites, as far as I can tell.
So much of the stuff they say on that site is either ridiculously arrogant or just out-and-out stupid that I can't believe it. If they want to be taken seriously, some professionalism might be in order. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

well, I personally liked it very much ^^
It was wonderful, beautifu, awesome work, although it's still on the beginning stages. I don't even know if they meant to make it serious. After all, only thing I did was demo... Well Final fantasy is not about seriousness, but just to have fun. It's not like the original game has no humorous events. -------------------- I will be there... |

Let me ask you this, Bis. Did they even bother to change any sprites in the demo? Or is everything in that demo exactly as I described it in my first post of the thread? -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

it looks stupid as hell. its just a hack on ff6 and the scripts will be changed to make kefka the main character.

I mean... It has MAGUS..? From CHRONOTRIGGER? and the magus sprite sheet is just a shrunked version of the real one! why don't they just stick to FF6, or new characters cause that is just....insane. -------------------- stupid horoscope wrong again |

Just to clear up some misconceptions, this is NOT a hack of the FF6 ROM. The engine is entirely different, it's a proper Win32 program.
The actual execution of the demo is pretty good. It's just the plotline and apparent attitude that make me squirm. |

it's just a game...it's just a game... I honestly can't really say anything about that, but when I asked Thomson, he said it's not sure thing yet. ---- hey, but think about it, Squaresoft used Cid throughout whole FF serious (even the movie), and moogles in many Squaresoft games ![]() -------------------- I will be there... |

They used the NAME Cid. It is abundantly clear that the Cids are not the same character. They all have different surnames, for one thing. And movie Cid was Sid. DR. BLOODY SID.
There are horses in a lot of mediaeval type games. It's hardly a crossover on the same level.
I see what you've done there. But no, I'd be groaning. Because chucking a load of good characters from other games together is just cheesy, unless you do it for a reason, and you do it well. Certainly doesn't seem like the former is the case, sadly. |

I have always been a huge fan of all spinoffs and this one if it flys will hopefully be an excellent game. If it works.
Until then I hope that it is not a spoof and will be cool. -------------------- "The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax-- Of cabbages--and kings-- And why the sea is boiling hot-- And whether pigs have wings." |

I don't take seriously in the least bit. But I still want to play it... It's obvious that it's creators weren't trying to make a serious storyline sequel for FFVII, they just wanted to have some fun and put something interesting together using their love of the original game.
I mean, come on. How can it be a serious story with Magus and Sephiroth in it, huh???...Wait a minute.../me pauses and reflects on his love of Kingdom  ![]() -------------------- *END TRANSMISSION* |
