On Mario DS, When playing the mini game where you must protect toad's flowers using a slingshot, what does hitting the Lakitu do?
This is probably too easy, but it's the best I've got right now. -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

Dunno if I'm thinking of the same mini-game, but doesn't it cause all the on-screen Bob-ombs to explode?

Okey.
Prior to Super Mario Bros. 1, the turtley enemies presently known as Koopas had a different name. What was it? Pretty easy. Wow, didn't even know they had other names o.o
Well, in the movie (Which Im SURE came out ofter SMB1) they were reffered in general as Goombas, (Which was weird, as the difference was OBVIOUS) I'm gonna go ahead and guess 'troopas' or 'koopa troopas' That'd be it o.o -------------------- Link: "What is it?" I distinctly remember a comic book advertisement for the original Mario Bros. that refered to them as Killer Turtles. The next question up for grabs if I have the correct answer.
Edit And yes, I do mean Mario Bros. not Super Mario Bros. It was a prior game that introduced Luigi and played somewhat like the Battle mini game in Super Mario Bros. 3. The only real difference that it was co-op or single player instead of versus. I'm just making myself clear since this is a question involving Super Mario Bros. and allot of people drop the Super when refering to it. I remember the killer turtle thing - they were also called that in the Mario Bros. commercial. Still, to my knowledge, that was never an "official" name, unless they changed it before the game came out.
Specifically, I'm looking for what they were called in Mario Bros. (might be mentioned in the manual. I know it is in the Atari version). -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. Wow, they had yet another name? The Atari era spans outside of my time and aside from that old comic book advertisement, I don't have any real knowlege of that time. I only have an old, used, manualess copy of the NES Mario Bros. This is an interesting question and I tip my hat off to you SilverFork.
Well, to keep on topic I'll make a somewhat educated guess. Hmm. Well from what I know, the original Mario Bros. took place in a sewer and I've heard that Koopas aren't just Turtles but a strange mutation of turtle. Also, back in the Atari era there was a fondness of two word, blatently obvious names. Jumpman a guy who jumps (Later renamed Mario ![]() ![]() ![]() Basicly, what all of that boils down to this; I'm going with either Sewer Turtle or Mutant Turtle and on no solid basis. Like I said before though, if I'm somehow right the next question is up for grabs. This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 23rd March 2005 00:17 -------------------- |

You're getting warmer. Your right about the "two word, blatently obvious names", as the early incarnation of Koopas had a name just like that, but unfortunately it wasn't either of the ones you guessed (if I had it my way, they WOULD have been, and still be called "Mutant Turtles", copyright violation or no!).
You're somewhat on the right track, though. Think of the one physical feature all turtles have - it's part of the name. If no one guesses by tonight then I'll give the answer. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. Hmmm... was the Goomba's original name Walking Shell or maybe Fang Shell? That hint you gave almost certainly alludes to Shell, but I honestly haven't the foggiest.

Got the "shell" part, but no cigar.
They were called Shellcreepers. Nice thing about the enemies in Mario Bros. is they're so appropriately named. Turtles that creep along the ground = Shellcreepers; angry flies that bounce up and down = Fighterflies; crabs that walk in a side-stepping motion = Sidesteppers, etc. I guess that means the next one's up for grabs. ![]() -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. Well, that's a good little tidbit to add to the pile SF and maybe I'll fair better on this question. But just one question Bum's Rush. Do you mean "Where do you find them?" or "What game do they come from?" I'll see what I can remember, each one down the list being less likely to be what you mean:
1. Link - Rose Town Inn - LoZ games (Definatly counts) 2. Samus - Mushroom Kingdom Palace, Guest Room - Metroid Series (Same as above) 3. Samus again, as a doll - Booster's Tower - Metroid Series (If you only count Samus once, then this isn't nessicary.) 4. Model vechiles that might be in other games - Barrel Volcano Inn - Um, maybe F-Zero, Starfox or some other games . . . . ( I didn't get a good look at them and there were about six. I'm not even sure that there are vehichals from F-Zero or Starfox there to tell the truth. ) 7. The Four Crystals - Culex Battle - Multiple FF games (Well they do have thoughts so I guess they're characters.) 6. Final Fantasy IV Fight 2 music - Battle with Culex in Monstro Town - FF IV (Can music make a cameo?) 7. Final Fantasy victory music - After the Battle with Culex in Monstro Town - Various Final Fantasy games. (Same note as 5) 8. Luigi - Leads the parade at the credits - Mario series games (Yes, I know he's a Mario character but still, he doesn't actually appear anywhere else in the game. It might be Cameo material.) 9. 8 Bit Mario - Boosters Tower. when you go behind some curtains (one time only) - Super Mario Bros. (I'm really starting to push it here.) 10. Super Mario Bros. theme - 8 Bit apearance, end of credits screen - Super Mario Bros. 11. The really, really tall beanstalk - Rose Town, if you give the Seed/Fertilizer to the gardener. - Jack and the Beanstalk? (I'm really pushing it here, this is more of a referance then a Cameo to tell the truth.) Um, I think that's more then double of what you asked for but most of it is music and random stabs in the dark. I only did the extras just to be certain that I had everything and the funny thing is, that I think there are tons more. Oh well, you can't win them all, or guess them in this case. Also, before anybody even thinks about posting it, Culex himself does not currently appear in any Final Fantasy games. Not IV, not VI, not XXI, not any. The Dark Knight of Vanda is in fact, a SMRPG only character so he can't be a cameo. The next question is up for grabs if I'm right of course. Edit P.S. Sometimes I scare myself with the useless info I keep in my head. That was indeed, like all of my other answers here, 100% memory. I should've used that head space to cure cancer or something, instead of playing Mario games. . . This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 23rd March 2005 05:33 -------------------- |

Yeah you basically nailed it on the head repeatedly, though the only answers I was looking for were Link, Samus, F-Zero Vehicles, Star Fox's ship and the FF-themed battle with Culex. But you did forget the battle between Czar Dragon (a monster never used in FF6) and a hard to find enemy called Bahamut (I forgot where I fought him, and it was only once), anyway the answer's correct.

Quote and a hard to find enemy called Bahamut (I forgot where I fought him, and it was only once), anyway the answer's correct. Bahamut? In Mario RPG? No way, you've gotta be kidding. I've beaten damn near everything in that game (Clearing a map racks up EXP in my case) and never saw a Bahamut. You sure you Mean Mario RPG? UPDATE: ok, so as GMH has reminded me, there is indeed a Bahamutt (2 Ts) in Mario RPG. [SUPER MARIO RPG]
Two enemies can summon the monster Bahamutt. One of them can also summon something else. Name both of the enemies, state which can summon something else, and also name what else it can summon. I'm using the US version names, just incase there are any disputes as to naming. Let's see ... Magikoopa (at Bowser's Keep) can summon Bahamutt. He can also summon King Bomb and Jinx Clone. Chester (at Bowser's Keep) can also summon Bahamutt. Those monsters-in-a-box are a pain.
