I have a question for this, I was considering playing FF1 but it always freezes on my emulator so I was thinking of getting Origins for the PSone. And I've been reading around the forums and alot have complained about it being too easy on DoS, so what I want to know is: Is Origins too easy as well or does it still retain some of the difficulty and gameplay from the original?

Origins has both Easy and Normal modes, and I found Normal to just be an improved upon version of the NES Classic, maybe a tad easier. Easy is harder than DoS (from my little experience with DoS), but good for a casual runthrough. As for buying it, it's a worthy purchase.

Well....
FFO is the best way to go, although I like DoS for its portability and extra dungeons. The appearance of Possible spoilers: highlight to view is also neat. It is, however, VERY easy.FF3j, FF4, FF5, & FF6 bosses in the SoC dungeons I would say to play the original, just because it just seems... better. Authentic games just seem better. However, I realize that original NESs are very rare anymore, so if you want a challenge and a bit of the original, pick FFO. -------------------- Dang. I agree with Twlight Paladin, they were too easy, otherwise go with Origins for a nice challenge. Final Fantasy II is better on DoS because of Rebirth. Try getting DoS after Origins, though. Origins FFI is tougher than any version of the game.

Does the Origins version use an MP bank (like later FFs) or MP slots (like the original MP system)?
Edit Rangers51: I apologize for neither 1) checking out the stuff on CoN first nor 2) being up-to-date on newer games (or old game 'remixes'). Quote (Glenn Magus Harvey @ 22nd March 2005 22:16) Does the Origins version use an MP bank (like later FFs) or MP slots (like the original MP system)? Slots, as evidenced by lack of MP data in the FF1 section of the site. Note that DoS uses both, so your framing of the question was a little odd. ![]() -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I would recommend playing Origins (or Dawn of Souls if you have a GBA) to any emulator cause the graphics itself make up for any difficulty. Of course Origins does not have the same difficulty as the original but it is still a great game for anyone who loves the FF series.

If you can`t play the first NES version , the only option closer to this would be the FF Origins, is basically the same storyline, as the original version.Yes , is a lot easier but, changed spells and enemies ,but as I say the storyline is the same.
