Not that long ago I recieved my most recent copy of EGM in the mail and I read in there that for pre-ordering the new Zelda game for GC and putting down $10 gets you a bonus disc that has Wind Waker re-made with the graphical maturity of this new Zelda game. At first I was excited about this but then I remembered it was the April issue. Can anyone verify if this is a joke or if it's the real deal?

I wouldn't doubt if it was a joke, PSM magazine had a page about a new game for the PSP called Wild Valkrie which is like Tomb Raider but the main heroine is in the buff (But with black bars covering her of course) and at the bottom of the page they said it was basically an April Fool's Joke. But what do you mean by Graphical Maturity? Please pardon my lack of knowledge.

Many think WW was too cartoonish, making it unplayable for anyone over the age of eight. The new one with be for more "mature" gamers, because the graphics dictate it will be so.

Ah I see, the "Mature" part threw me off. Anyway going off topic, if it sounds cool and it's April, it probably is a joke. But then again money is on the line here...

Generally, the exchange of money in the expectation of receiving something is a contract, and to not provide what is expected is grounds for a lawsuit. If it's an April Fool's joke, it's a stupid one - but I still wouldn't rule it out.

I get EGM. Last april fools joke they pulled was about how there was a way in Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball that would make all the girls topless. A lot of people thought it was real and tried it. They later wrote in complaining about how much time they spent trying to get the trick to work, only to find out it was a joke. I thought it was pretty funny.
As for the Wind Waker thing I'm certain its a joke. To redo the graphics like that would require A LOT of repositioning and tweaking of the game code and polygons. Since the characters are different sizes, with different arm lengths and such. And I agree with DP's opinion about the "mature" graphics. Yes, I picked up on it. You are of the opinion that the realism of the graphics should not dictate the age bracket of gamers that it appeals to.

When I read that in EGM I thought "wow developers are really offering some great incentives these days for preordering their games". You guys are right though... it's gotta be a joke. Redoing the graphics would mean creating new textures and graphical effects. OoT on GameCube was a great incentive for preordering Wind Waker. It turns out that that was better than Wind Waker itself! Water travel on a non-motorized sailboat = zzz...

I'm not really sure about this since it's not on GameSpot or any other website. I'm sure that if they did do it, it would be successful since I didn't like the cartoonish-look to Wind Waker. It looks too childish...And, by the way, someone sent a letter to EGM and they didn't even say it was. They put a fake screenshot and quote, "You bought the San Andreas Sasquatch pic, but called b******t on this?."
