Early version of FF VI?

Hi. The version of FF VI (or III as it says on the title screen) I'm playing right now, appears to be some kind of early version.
For instance, Sabin is called 'Mash', Terra is called 'Tina' here, and a lot of item/weapon names are different as well. The Espers are called 'Phantom Beasts', etcetera... Do you know about this? This post has been edited by DemonSeed on 21st March 2005 11:22 -------------------- |

It's just a different translation. Those are also their names in RPGOne's translation, but I'm pretty sure it says VI on the title.

You'd probably be playing a hacked rom of FFIIIus, such that it contains a translated version of the names and dialogue from FFVIj. Such a hack indeed exists (I possess a copy myself); my only wonder is why the hacker(s) didn't bother to change the title screen as well. (Maybe he/she/they forgot.)

Various names were altered for either unknown reasons or due to space constraints ("Phantom Beasts" is too long, for instance.) Given the ease of ROM hacking, particularly with FF3e, anyone can restore the names and so forth appropriately, or even alter them to their own liking. I think it's just a bad translated version of the origenal japanese version that fans tried to translate. and i think iv'e downloaded it at one too. but anyway the point is it's a good game so just play it and have fun.
