The only prequel I've seen is Attack of the Clones, and it didn't strike me as all that great. I heard The Phantom Menace was actually worse, so I'm not really excited about the newest one - just judging from Ep. II, they don't seem to have the same greatness as the original trilogy, notably Ep. V and VI.
However, apparently this new one takes a different, "darker" direction, understandably so given its plot, but I'll probably wait and rent it or something depending on how the reviews turn out. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. I downloaded the trailer yesterday and haven't had a chance to watch yet. I will probably see it, because it does seem that they've gotten better - Attack of the Clones was indeed a bit better than Phantom Menace, so at least the precedent seems to be that maybe this one will be somewhat closer to the originals in quality.

I'm definetely going to see it. I'm a Star Wars "fanatic" so to speak. From what I've seen this is going to be much better than the second considering it's getting closer to the movies we all know and love.
It's also been said that RotS may be recieving a PG-13 rating rather than the traditional PG due to the dark mood and probable graphic scenes. -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? Life goes on... |

I honestly do not like Eps I and II. But to be fair, I'm not too in tune with any of the Star Wars. But I failed to see how I and II really connected with the original trilogy. I know, I've had it explained to me a bunch of times, "The federation is basically the foundation for the Empire" as well as everything else I missed (which usually is a lot). Then the explanations are usually followed up with "Don't worry, everything will come together in the third one" (In which case, a whoooole lot has to be cleared up to connect Eps I-III to Eps IV-VI).
That said, I probably will end up seeing it. I mean, it's the last Star Wars, for god's sake. But I'm prepared to be disappointed, as I and II have taught me. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

as a true fan, I do intend on seeing it. As much as the first two prequals dissapointed me, the trilogy commands me to see how the rest of the series plays out. Who knows? Maybe It'll blow me away. It's worth the five bucks.

It's coming out May 19th. I am now in my planning stages for my big fat Ep. III party. So far, I've been a bit more than dissapointed in the prequels but that hasn't lowered my spirits for Ep. III.
I remember when I saw the rerelease of Ep. IV in 1997, and I said to my friend, "Man, it's going to be forever till they get done with the last (Ep. III) in 2005. I'll be 24 when that comes out, waaaay old". She called me up the other day and reminded me of what I said to her. That night of my sophomore year of high school was very fun indeed. It would be nice to see it May 12th for the early premiere here. Modesto is one of the few (make that 10) cities that's having an early showing. It's going to benefit some kind of fundraiser, so I know it's going to be pricey. OK, watched the trailer today since Caz was nice enough to BT and send it to me while I was at work. I think it will be the best of this trilogy but by far not the best of the six. So middle of the road, probably. Hopefully Yoda's battling isn't too cheesy this time around.

I'm a huge Star Wars freak, as some people in chat can probably testify. I definitely plan on seeing Episode III; the trailer looked freaking awesome. I liked I and II, and while they don't hold the magic/nostalgia/etc. that the originals had, they make up for it with quality CG and such. (btw, the acting is no worse in ep. I and II. Aside from one or two actors, the acting in Star Wars is notoriously bad.)

Quote (SilverFork @ 18th March 2005 23:03) Now when did Episode VII materialize and where can I find it? ![]() Come on, you know ep. VII. The one where a mako eyed Luke loses his memory , carries around a 6ft long by 2ft wide lightsaber and he has to defeat Darth Sephiroth. But seriously, I heard that this is supposed to be the most intense of all the movies that have been made so far. I was reading in the paper the other day that it was likened to Titanic in space (uh oh). Yeah, a real tear jerker. The part I'm looking forward to the most is the explanation of Anakin's descent into becoming Darth Vader (well, right next to the Gungan slaughter). -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" Well, of course it's going to be the biggest "tear-jerker." Just look at the storyline. Not to mention Ep2's little romance themed plotline.
I read the cast call, and not only is Peter Mayhew returning as Chewbacca, but James Earl Jones is voicing Vader once again ( ![]() ![]() Btw, EpII's Fett story absolutely sucked. Quote (Sherick @ 21st March 2005 18:39) Well, of course it's going to be the biggest "tear-jerker." Just look at the storyline. Not to mention Ep2's little romance themed plotline. If Star Wars makes you cry, you don't deserve to live. Especially if the teenage lust stares and bad acting of Episode II convinced you that the plot was romance-themed. I watched the trailer a while ago, and I was very impressed (moreso by the teaser than the full version). Darth Vader is my favorite Star Wars character (i.e. read bottom of my post) and is definitely among the greatest villians ever concieved (second to kefka rite guyz I LOVE FINAL FANATSY!!!). I think this will be the best of the three prequels, albeit nowhere near the original three. Honestly, what movie of the same genre can touch the likes of A New Hope or The Empire Strikes Back or even The Return of the Jedi. Being a quasi-Star Wars geek I'm looking forward to more how Lucas presents the storyline than what it will actually be. I mean, it's quite obvious what drove Anakin to become Vader and how he eventually got put in the suit, I just want to see it in action. I'm also hoping for minimum screentime of the relationship between Anakin and Whats-her-face-I-don't-care. The only good thing that came out of that couple was Luke and Leia, nuff said. In addition, I'm interested in how the Wookies tie into the storyline, and I also want to see how many Jedi Masters wrinkley old Palpatine can kill. Basically, I would like to have a much more "Star Wars-y" feel to Episode III, since I and II just felt like an entirely different series. Between the technology, customs, and style of the prequels, I think somewhere along the way Lucas introduced too much junk and is going to end up leaving a big gap between III and A New Hope. The transition of a lot of minor themes seems to be clunky. Somehow, the prequels don't connect well with the trilogy and it feels as if they should be taking place hundreds of years apart, although the timeline is no more than half a century. Overall, I want to see the Star Wars series to the end, and I just hope for the best. I'm no fool, I won't be camping out anywhere or watching it on opening night, but I plan to go see Revenge of the Sith sometime during the summer. Quote Basically, I would like to have a much more "Star Wars-y" feel to Episode III, since I and II just felt like an entirely different series. Exactly. Sums up my feelings to a tee. And if Ep. III is gonna be "tear-jerky", I can't help but wonder to what degree. Is Lucas gonna make it sappy (like that one "love" scene in Ep. II that I can't remember a bit about other than the word "SAPPY!" kept banging through my skull like multiple car wrecks), or more along the lines of near the end of Return of the Jedi? Not that it was a tear-jerker per se, but it was pretty freakin' sad. Either because of the intended emotion brought about by the scene or because Vader just didn't seem that badass anymore. Take your pick. Eh, I'm just trying to talk myself out of seeing this movie, despite how I want to more and more every day... -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. I'll definitely be seeing it. I think it'll tie things up pretty well while giving us some awesome fighting, eye candy, and a resolution to the whole Vader-Palpatine arc.
And Bobbo: whoever told you the Trade Federation's the foundation for the Empire's on something. The Republic is the foundation, since Palpatine will be taking control of it and turning it into the Empire; the fact that the Republic has stormtroopers and Victory-class destroyers (the historical base for the Imperial Star Destroyer in fandom and now in canon) speaks volumes about that. Later on comes the rebellion, once they see how corrupt their Emperor is, and everything else we've already seen. Also remember the line from the boardroom in Episode 4: "The Imperial Senate is no longer a concern. The Emperor has dissolved the Council permanently... the last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away." And yes, I did indeed type that completely from memory. ![]() -------------------- ~Status Report~ * Completed... Dragon's Head * Completed... I cannot wait for the movie to come out, I have looked forward to this one since they announced that Lucas was making new Star Wars just to see Anakin turn into Vader. I like how Chewbacca is going to be in it too. Of course I would love to see good ole Solo but he would have to be very young and there is no one, and I mean NO ONE, who can be Han Solo (or Indiana Jones for that matter) then Harrison Ford.

I was never the least bit of a Star Wars fan. Though they were 'good' movies, I never really got why anyone would become a fanatic about them (though, here I am on a FF website. Eh). I saw Ep.I in the theaters, and was so interested in it that I completely forgot to see the Ep.II when it came out. In fact, the first time I saw Ep.II was about two weeks ago.
Now, I will have to admit that I have become a Star Wars fan recently, even so far as to have some of the nomenclature seap into my everyday language. What made the change? Star Wars Battle Front. Granted, I still don't care for the Jedi, or the force, or "but Obi, I want to love," or anything like that. However, I am very much into the Clone Troopers. All I could think durring the fight (with... what's his name... count something. Duku! [/me had to think of the trees in the zelda games]) Duku was "Who cares about the Jedi, there's a whole war going on out there! Show us the troopers! Die CIS droid scum!" Anyway, here's hoping the next movie has some good clone trooper action... but I think I'll be disapointed there. Just look at how they mistreated the troopers in the clone wars cartoon. I mean, it's called "Star Wars: Clone Wars" right? At least they could focus on what some of the clones did, instead of just showing them getting diced by Greavus (spelling?) all the time. Well, there's my rant, enjoy : ) By the way, wasn't the Gungan's plantet blown up by the death star in Ep.IV? If that's so, then I'm guessing there won't be any Gungan genocide in this movie. Sorry to disappoint. Edit I stand corrected. As you can probably tell, I don't claim to know anything definitive about the series. : ) This post has been edited by Iain Peregrine on 11th April 2005 20:34 |

I watched the trailer, and found it to be on par with the Episode I trailer (which I thought was awesome at the time). I persoanlly enjoyed Episode I, save for that dumb blonde boy playing Anakin (I think he's got to be the worst child actor ever [and I've seen him in other movies too]). Episode II became less enjoyable as I saw too much CG, not enough good plot development, and the most contrived relationship between Padme and Anakin there could ever be. It was sickening. Only really enjoyed the large battle sequences in that particular movie, and nothing else.
Episode III looks promising to me, and I'm still willling to have faith that Mr. Lucas will redeem and get his soul back from the devil. The movie is going to be pretty dark, so he damn well better make sure he doesn't do dumb things like have Anakin say, "I'm evil, Master Obiwan, fight me" or something very blatantly obvious and not subtle. He needs to massage the material, not inject it full of steroids. Think of the side effects!!! |

I'm looking forward to it, myself. I liked episodes I and II well enough, but I didn't think ep II was really love-themed. The whole romance between Anakin and Padme was creepy, especially the wedding (well, it might be less creepy if you don't know the fate that awaits them.)
I'm not sure if the intent was for them to be cute or what. I suppose they were cute for a few seconds in there, somewhere. My husband managed to get an audiobook of ep III and has been listening to it, he says that if the movie is anything like the book, it'll be great. EDIT: I almost forgot to post a link to the 133t trailer. It's a funny parody of the ep III trailer, with subtitles in l33t. I bought the Clone Wars volume one for my son and I, and I gotta say, Twilight, I'm not sure what you're talking about by it not focusing on the clones.
![]() Within the first 5 minutes, you are treated to Possible spoilers: highlight to view seeing an elite commando group of clones, led by the red armored commander and two blue armored sergents, get started on a special op on the banking clans homeworld. We see them shot down, sniped at, and then progressing through a hostile city teeming with enemy droids on their way to the capital building and it's orbital gun. There guys kick all kinds of ass. Their mission alone took up two full episodes of the series when it was airing during it's season. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |
