I've included some of (in my opinion) the more difficult enemy bosses. Here are my reasonings for choosing these guys ...

Kefka: He's pretty tough, especially after all the fighting on the plain. And he's really the first experience you have with level 2 spells (if he casts Ice 2). The first time I was fighting him and he cast Muddle, it scared the living daylights out of me.

Number 128: You are minus Celes in this battle, so healing can become a problem if the others in your party haven't learned any Cure spells yet. And the blasted monster has the blasted Blaster attack.

Atma Weapon: He's a tough guy, with terrifying battle music nonetheless. His Mind Blast attack can be pretty bad.

Tentacles: Not much fun, especially given their tendency to poison your party members and knock them out of commission by seizing them.

Storm Dragon: He has the highest HP out of all the dragons, is definitely one of the strongest with attacks that can do over 1000 damage, and he is only the first.

Doom Gaze: His L5 Doom attack can be quite lethal (as I found out last time I fought him), especially as you're never sure when you're going to fight him.

Magi Master: Enough said.

Wrexsoul: His tendency to possess your party members can make for a very annoying battle.

Doom: Maybe it's just me, but Doom always seems incredibly difficult. He has the highest HP of any boss in the game. Maybe it's just me.

Kefka: Five words ... Fallen One, Goner, and Train.

**********************************

My vote goes to Atma Weapon. I mean, up until that point you've been fighting mediocre bosses that do present somewhat of a challenge, but this monster means business.

I chose Magimaster because I didn't particularly enjoy having to re-climb the Fanatics Tower. Now how are you supposed to know what he does your first time through without first reading a strategy guide?

Honourable mention goes to Marshal. You've got no chance to level-up Locke or Mog, very few Tonics, Vommamoth's casting Blizzard...'and when was the last save point?', you wonder as another Moogle goes down. Although I can't recall ever having lost here, I do find that my biggest sigh of relief in this game comes from finishing this scenario.

Wrexsoul. I usually power through bosses, and had no idea what I was getting into with this guy. Eventually, I pulled it off, but to this day I find it frustrating.

Also, if you're somewhat underlevelled and don't use a Phoenix Down, Doom Train can be slightly difficult.

First time I played through the game, I sold both Star pendants and running shoes, so the tentacles were hell. I voted them for two reasons: None of the other bosses gave me nearly as much trouble when I went in unprepared (Save wrexsoul as I didn't now the X-Zone trick) and #2 is that I figured they'd get like NO votes o.o

Most of these weren't really that difficult in terms of being able to cream my party in the heat of battle (i.e. not counting final attack) with their ass-kicking attacks. AtmaWeapon and Atma come the closest to being the hardest of these, but they still weren't too enormous of a challenge. Doom Gaze was hard only in a cheap sense--because of its large set of instant death attacks; Tentacles merely had a somewhat annoying habit.

I did, however, vote Wrexsoul. The mere strategy that a player has to know in order to win this battle already makes this very annoying; add to this his attacks and those two lackey 'Sou lSavers' (what an ironic name).

I vote for Doomgaze for the factor "surprise", because I think I was safe in my airship and then he comes and wipe out my whole party...I think is hard for novice players who don´t know about Vanish/Doom.

I nulled vote beucase none of the bosses in that game are hard i mean unless you have honor and not Vanish+X-zone or 128 magic defence or just use the right rage at the right time.

I chose the Tentacles. They seem to carry with them the most unpredictability of any of the bosses listed (MagiMaster was taken into account). They had the potential to seize your entire party and just whittle away at your health. Plus if I don't have my full compliment of four characters I always feel kinda vulnerable. It wasn't until the last time I played through the game that I beat them with relatively no problem.

Personaly, the boss I remember being most trying was Kefka at Narshe. I still had Celes using the runic blade (I had no idea it stole MP) and thus, by the time I got to Kefka, she was maxed out. The party Terra was in sucked, and I had exahausted all my tonics and potions. It took a miracle, a reluctant use of a very expensive potion type thingie (I think it healed both MP and HP, But I can't remember it's name for the life of me) and alot of use of the Runic command to defeat him. Granted, he was probably only difficult because I was inexperienced and poorly prepared, but still. For newbie players, Kefka at Narshe is a tough battle.

the storm dragon always used to piss me off. i usually never had trouble against any other bosses until i had to fight this one. to me, he was VERY difficult. i took me a couple trys to beat him, but i was able to get thru it!

I think I'll go with Marshal. That may seem like a joke, but it's not. The further you progress in the game the more preparations you can take and tactics you can use. There's no such thing when facing Marshal at the beginning of the game, and while you'd normally have to be brain-dead to lose to an enemy with single-target attacks only, you have little means of restoration.

To sum it up, his attacks hurt quite a lot and there's nothing you can do about it. That doesn't make him dangerous by any means, but to me, there are no bosses which are actually 'dangerous' happy.gif

Tentacles because it's the only boss I've ever died against of the ones listed there. If I didn't first see my friend kill Wrexsoul with X-Zone they I would've voted for him.

I voted Wrexsoul, because killing your own party members is a lot harder than killing any of the game's bosses. Your characters evade so many friendly fire attacks, more than the rate of evading enemy attacks it seems like. So the Wrexsoul battle is the one I dread the most when playing through the game.

Honorable mention goes out to Kefka -- Narshe, but only if you don't put Celes in your party with a couple of decent support characters. Kefka's magic attacks are pretty devastating otherwise.

I enjoy fighting with honor (as Blythe said), that is, not using Vanish and Doom or X-Zone because I really enjoy the boss battles!

I stick to that now with the exception of Wrexsoul. I can't stand having to kill off my characters; I'll often choose the wrong one. And then, when I finally got him to show himself and did some damage, he possesses my party again! When I learned about the Soul Saver (I agree Glenn, what an ironic name) X-Zone trick, I did not hesitate.

Doom Gaze, plain and simple. Almost every first time I get the airship, I run straight into him. He's stalking me. But when you only have three people against a boss that may come almost instantaniously after another.

The first time through, it was definatly MagiMaster for me. For me, his constant barrage of mid-high level Magic and with my luck in choosing spells, Wall Change seemed to be a near invinceable defense. Eventually, I found some good work arounds but when I finaly finished him off, I found out how sore of a loser he could really be. After all of the trouble the Fanatics Tower was, the Gem Box just didn't seem like a good enough reward to me. (At that particular point in time that is. I love it now.)

Next off there's Wrex Soul, the second hardest for me. The first few times through, I had no idea what actually happened to him. The first time through, he just dissapeared so I thought he was dead and I only had to take out the Soul Savers. However, no matter how hard I tried, they just wouldn't die. Ice 3, Flare, Ultima (I trained allot in the Fanatics Tower), it didn't matter what I threw at those two Soul Savers, they just kept on coming back. I don't remember how exactly but after that battle I knew something was up.To make a long story short(er), I eventually figured out I had to attack my own characters and hated every possible aspect of that. I pulled it off though and that was when all of the boss battles became really easy for me. Up untill Kefka's tower that is . .

As someone who's never used the Vanish/Doom or X-Zone "strategy" in my life, I'd say Wrexsoul's one annoying mutha. Still, I don't think he's ever killed me, so I regretfully go with the Tentacles. They HAVE killed me. Three playthroughs in a row. Those three playthroughs I skipped getting Sabin right off, was at pretty low levels and didn't equip Star Pendants. Those three factors together make for one sucky battle.

I'm going to have to stick with tentacles, with the first atma weapon as a close second. If you're unprepared for the tentacles fight, it really is an exercise in annoyance - watching seized, slowed, poisoned characters die slow deaths from viney hugs. At that point in the game, you're still a little on the short side for powerful magics, and if you start casting various spells that do different elemental damage, you'll just end up healing 2 of the 4 vines.

This fight can either be really easy or insanely hard, and it entirely depends on your preparation before the battle - and someone playing through the game on their first time is most likely not expecting this fight.

Didn't really find any boss in the game overly difficult, but Wrexsoul sure was the most annoying. His whole possession gimmick made the fight a lot longer than it had to be.

Lately none of them seem too hard, but I've played enough to know what to do and I'm in a vastly-overlevelled kick right now too. First time through Atma Weapon was a nightmare- I was underlevelled, he's big n' nasty, and that music... Took me a while to win that one. Other than that I'd say Storm Dragon (hardest Dragon and earliest and you face, plus lack of elemental defenses at that point)

I voted Tentacles, because Seize is a killer and with only 3 members, it's hard to keep up with everything. I would vote Goddess (the statue) second place. I found her to be the hardest statue.

I voted Wrexsoul. I can't remember what the problem with him was, because it's been ages since I played FF VI, however I do remember, that as all the other bosses I wiped out in one-two go's, it took me all day (and I mean ALL) to beat Wrexsoul.

I say storm dragon. He's really one of the very few characters in this game i would call tough, and since my last few forays into ff6 have been NMG's, he's that much more difficult.

The toughest time I had was with Atma, since I didn't know I was about to start a boss fight when I came upon him, as was totally not prepared at all. He wasted me five times until I sent a different party after him.
