This is morew about hard-to reach than secret,per-say, but how do you get to the secret stages behind the giant cactuses, inside the lake, and the fortress in the bowser-zone? My friend told me about these places, and i wanted to clarify that these places existed...k...

1. Cactuses? Aside from Pokey, I don't really remember any cacti in the entire game. May I know the world or if possible, the name of the level you're talking about please?

2.The lake - There are multiple lakes, can you be more specific? Is it in the Forrest of Illusion, the Doughnut Plains or are you trying to get to Soda Lake? It makes a world of differance as each have a seaperate set of instructions.

3. Getting to the Bowser Valley Fortress - Now this I can help you with. It does exsist and it's visable on the Bowswer Valley Map. Here's what you do to get there:

Well, you'll need to go to Bowser Valley 2 so if you can't get there yet, you can't do anything yet, sorry. If you can get there, you should bring a cape when you go because you'll need to fly. Now here's how you go through the level to get to the seceret exit:

1.Now in the first room, just keep on going as you would normaly, there's nothing really special here and it's quite linear so.

2. In the second room, there should be a box with Yoshi wings and a sort of maze that has the floor raising and falling. Do not grab the Yoshi wings because they'll end the level early. Instead go through that maze. Be careful though because if you get squished inbetween the floor and the ceiling, you will die. To avoid this fate, you'll have to constantly move forward. Only stop when you find safe spots where you won't get squished. It's a long maze so you'll see quite a few.

3. At the end of the maze, you should see a pipe. Enter it and try not to get squished by the raising floor on the other side. Some time after that, there should be an opening in the ceiling. Fly up into the opening and try to land above the screen on the left side. After that, you should walk to the left until you see both a key and a keyhole. I think it should be obvious what to do with them both at that point.

I hope that last bit is helpful and if you can be a bit more specific, I'll do what I can to try and help more. I love Mario games.

1) I believe you fly up at the very start of the level...all the way to the left and run along the ceiling all the way to the right to the secret exit.

2) The most common way to do it is to take yoshi with you to the end of the lower bridge level and then jump underneath the ribbon and then jump off of Yoshi's back mid-air in order to land on the platform behind the ribbon. Continue to the right to find the exit.
