No I said "Video Game" Heroine, anyway, since noone seems to talk about 'em much, who's your favorite Female Character(s) from a game? Here are mine:
Claire Redfield (RE2&Veronica) Tifa Lockheart (FF7) Princess Toadstool (SMRPG) Blaze (Streets of Rage) Annie (Wild Guns) I'm pretty sure little-to-no people know what Wild Guns is, maybe streets of rage, enyhoo bring 'em up. -------------------- |

Aika and Fina from Skies of Arcadia, Chun Li from Street Fighter, Beatrix from FF IX, and Monica from Dark Cloud 2.
I'm surprised that there aren't many ICO fans around here. I almost put her down, but I decided instead to mention games that I actually enjoyed for aspects other than the character relationships. This post has been edited by laszlow on 18th March 2005 04:29 -------------------- |

Chun-Li from Street Fighter and Sonya from Mortal Kombat. These chicks kick ass!!
I also like Quistis from FFVIII. Blue Magic is among the coolest magic from FF! Agrias, Meliadoul, and Alma from FFT and General Beatrix and Dragon Knight Freya from FFIX for no other reason 'cept they're awesomeness in battle and character development/storylines. Edit If I had to choose from one, I'd choose Quistis. Do you and me a favor and don't ask why. i hear you on that one mogmaster, yae was freakin' awesome. as for my fave heroine, i'll have to go with either celes or that one girl from final fight (i forget her name). the story behind celes is just great, and that one girl from final fight can kick some major ass.

FFMQ - Kaili: Hated having Pheobe as my end sidekick. Plus, if it weren't for her, you'd still be in level forest trying to cut down the trees with your sword o.o
FFIV - Rydia: Summons, nuff said FFVI: Celes: I like the combination of swordswoman and smart-ass attitude ("I'm a general, not some love-starred twit") FFVII: Aeris: Yes, Aeris. Dunno why, just liked her more than Tifa or Yuffie FFXI: Freya/Beatrix: Both excellent fighters SMRPG: Peach: Gee.... (nicked from another post)
Posted on: 13th September 2004 10:24 Samus (Metroid) - Ooooh, heavy armor and guns... cool Celes (FFVI) - The ice queen... Faris (FFV) - Everyone's fav. female FF pirate/princess! Zelda (Legend of Zelda) - Ya know, there was only ONE game where she was the heroine ("Zelda's Quest" or something). Link needs to be saved more often. Princess Daisy/Peach/Toadstool (or whatever they're calling her now days) - Yeah, I always thought she was cool. At least in SMB2, SMRPG, and Mario Party games you're able to play her and not just have her be waiting to be rescued. Princess Sara (FFI) - This one is mostly inspired by 8 Bit Theatre.... Maria (FFII) - Yet another FF heroine with a bow. (What's with women being white mages and archers?) Ivy (Soul Calibre) - I really like this character, but the only thing that bothers me is her huge chest (makes for a hard time on the back while fighting). Tifa (FFVII) - See previous comment. Chun Li (Street Fighter series) - Good old thunder thighs. She was always my fav. Street Fighter character. Lucca (Chrono Trigger) - For some reason I always identified with her more than Marle. I guess cause we're both smart. I don't have glasses though. Alena (DW IV) - Princess who sneaks off to kick butt in a battle tournament. I really liked her character. Nameless Heroine (DW IV) - What was cool about her, was that you had the option of making the promised hero a heroine! Needless to say she was named Kame a lot of the time. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." "Arthur Philip Dent?" "Yes." In no real order...except the last one who's, uh, last.
- Samus Aran (Metroid series) - Terra Branford (FFVI) - Rydia of Mist (FFIV) - Faris Scherwiz-Tycoon (FFV) - Chun Li (Street Fighter series) - With that turbo kick how is she not cool? - Princess Peach Toadstool (most Mario games) - Not only does she kick in SSBM and SMRPG, but she's strangely awesome in Paper Mario 2. - Kitana (Mortal Kombat series) - C'mon. Folding fans of DOOM!! - Princess Zelda (most LoZ games) - Though it isn't my favorite Zelda game, I thought she was best in OoT with the whole Possible spoilers: highlight to view Not to mention she's pretty versatile in SSBM. Oh, and Kame, she actually starred as the heroine in two Zelda CDI games: The one you're referring to and one called "The Wand of Gamelon".Shiek thing going on. Why oh why couldn't she have used those ninja skills after Ganondorf kidnaps her? - Jill Valentine (Resident Evil 1 & 3) - She's more a favorite by default. See, as much as I love the RE series, I oftentimes can't stand most of the playable characters, so to remedy that I experience much joy in getting them killed in the most entertaining ways. Jill here has been the object of such abuse for so long (mainly because I've played through those two REs more times than anyone probably should), so she's officially my favorite Zombie/Licker/Hunter/Tyrant/Nemesis/etc. bait. Cruel? Yes, but oh so much fun! -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. Oh I almost can't choose, it's just so hard with all of the good choices out there. I think I'll just go with an alphabetical bullet list to avoid rankings.
• Amy Rose (Full of life, although sometimes a little too full of it.) • Chun Li (She's my favorite Street Fighter as well.) • Lucca (Smart, kind and polite) • Marle (Kind, polite and a great healer) • Mrs. Pac Man (The original heroine. Bonus points for the oddity of being both a girl and a "Man" at the same time.) • Princess Toadstool (I'm a Mario series fan and I enjoyed her various playable roles.) • Rydia (Much more spirted then Rosa to me) • Terra (A heroine with a nonstereotyped perosnality. It can be a real breath of fresh air at times.) • Zelda ( Why? I don't know. She doesn't really do anything but sit there in most of the games I played.) Somewhat unrelated to the topic: Quote (Kame) Princess Daisy/Peach/Toadstool (or whatever they're calling her now days) Long story short, Daisy's a differnt person and it's Princess Peach Toadstool of the Mushroom Kingdom now or just Peach for short. That wasn't quite always the case though. Yes, I know it's trivial but still . . . This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 30th March 2005 11:38 -------------------- |

I'm probably gonna think of a ton, so bear with me here...
Celes, FFVI: Strong, both moraly and physicaly, and true to her heart. A+ Tetra, LOZ WW: A spunky female on LoZ who actualy does more than give you some gem or a horse? Neato! Possible spoilers: highlight to view Plus having Zelly fight with you in the final battle is kickin' Lucca, Chrono Trigger: Burn! Burn it all! *Ahem* I mean... I love her not only for her brains, but also because she doesn't have some sort of evil manical fued with Marle over Chrono. Way to be an independant Vidio Game lady! Ayla, Chrono Trigger: Any women who can take down a dinosaur 5 times as big as herself using only claws, teeth and muscle is an impressive person in my book. Momo, BOF 3: Similar to Lucca, she manages to stand out as a smart, independant charecter. Plus that bazooka of hers is just too awsome. Raine, ToS: What can I say, I like smart ladies on my side. Raine mannaged to break the mold when it came to "All healers must be rainbows and sunshine." Raine had attitude. Plus she kicked Lloyd in the face for skipping school ![]() ![]() Well, that's all I can think of for now. I'm certain I'm forgetting someone though... -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

I've been playing through several of my older games, so I'll add two more to my original five, and give some reasons for all seven (if you can't already tell, I am extremely bored right now). Let me apologize in advance for being too verbose.
Aika from SoA - IMO, she is the best example of a female tomboy character in all of gaming. Her treasure-crazy, over-imaginative, extra-sassy ways are an awesome (and usually hilarious) counter to Fina's more quiet demeanor. Plus, her limited voice acting fits her character perfectly. Fina from SoA - Yuna in FF X reminded me very strongly of Fina. She is almost a stereotypically demure, naive, female magic-using character, but her hidden emotions and secret mission add an entire new dimension to the character. She also has the most broken spell in the game in Lunar Light. Monica from Dark Cloud 2 - The storyline from DC 2 really surprised and impressed me. Although the more intruiging plot sections were directed at Max (who I am pretty sure is the same voice as Robin from Teen Titans...), her attitude and dialogue completely matched her voice and look. Dark Cloud 3 is near the top of my list for games I want to see showcased at e3 this year. Chun Li from Street Fighter - In a genre where the vast majority of female characters either have to be over-cute or a total slut (both of which I usually hate), Chun Li has both grace and a costume that doesn't shove your mind in the gutter. Her fighting style in Third Strike is also among my favorites in the series; very jumpy and quick Wushu that seems way more realistic than Ryu/Ken's blocky Shotokan. Beatrix from FF IX - I liked a lot of the characters in FF IX, and Beatrix is neck and neck with Steiner and Vivi vying to be my favorite. She's a character who's loyalty and values are really tested in the first two disks, and ultimately she becomes that character that you wished SO much would join your party a la Leo/Piastol/Schala/Janus. Not only is she a very difficult opponent early in the game, she is tremendously fun to use in the ten minutes that she's in your party. Aya Brea from Parasite Eve - I'm playing through PE 2 for the first time right now, and I'm remembering why I thought she was such a good main character in the first one. She's a very strong, level-headed lady, but she also suffers for her powers and is tormented by her past in a sort of cliche but effective manner. PE is pretty good for a RPG/SH combination that suffers from poor design, but the characters and plot make it more worthwhile. Lady from Devil May Cry 3 - I'm not kidding when I say that DMC 3 is already one of my favorite games of all time. It has the best 3D combat system of any non-fighting game I've ever played, and the atmosphere, style, and music are wonderful, if a bit corny. Lady's character is very interesting, basically a demon hunter whose grim determination is motivated by spoiler after spoiler. She's cute, she's mean, and she kicks loads of tail with her combination missile launcher/harpoon gun. I was really hoping for some kind of play as Lady or play as Vergil scenario after finally beating Normal on DMC 3, but all I got was new costumes and Hard Mode. Now that I've looked online at FAQs/info (something I never do in detail until after I've beaten a game), I know that there are no such extras. Which sucks horribly, but doesn't detract from her being the best non-playable heroine ever. Wow... I accidentally left the computer on the internet going to the library. You guys probably think I'm a total forum-whore for being on for four hours straight. This post has been edited by laszlow on 14th April 2005 19:37 -------------------- |
