Okay, basically if we're on here we pretty much like Final Fantasy, so when was the absolue FIRST time you played any FF game? For me it was a couple of years ago, I was, say, 13 (for reference I'm 18) and I was looking for a game in a Pawn shop. It was our last stop so if I got nothing here I'll be going home empty handed. I was looking around and no games really caught my eye, until I just made a random decision and picked out a game called Final Fantasy 7 (Dun Dun Dun Dun Duuuuuuuuunnnnn). Little did I know that I just purchased a game that will soon change my ways, knowledge and ideas of gaming. From there on I played FF8,9,10,5, and 6 (yes I know I haven't played the NES games, Shame on me), I don't have online support so no 11 and I'm weary of buying 10-2, and you can bet I'll get FF12 when it's released this year.

A long time ago, in a galexy far, far away....
My parents bought me Final Fantasy 7 for Christmas. That was back when I didn't own a PlayStation, so they got me the PC version. I kept looking at the box, while it was wrapped, thinking it was Tomb Raider (The box design is virtually the same for both games), and was pleasently surpirsed when I found out that I now owned what would soon become one of my all-time favorite games. After beating that game, I went on to beat Final Fantasys 1,2,4,5,6,8,9,10, and X-2. The only one I have left to beat is 3, and I'm almost done!! To think, I've come so far after all that time.... ![]() -------------------- ~ Aurora, exhale bloody air! Dark Holy! ~ |

Back in '99. I was a Sophomore in H.S. and I got Final Fantasy VIII for the Playstation as a Christmas gift. This game still holds a valuable place in my collection and once I get a new copy of the game, I'll be replaying it again. It was thee game that got me hooked on FF and Square/Square-Enix.

*whispers* Psst...shouldn't this be in the Squenix forum...?
![]() Geez, I feel old. My first time was in 1990 (I'm fairly certain that was the year). I had seen a game called "Final Fantasy" in a few game stores as a new release (three years after its Japanese debut, but who's counting?) and had heard tell of it from Nintendo Power magazine, but didn't really give it much thought. One day not long after that my mom came home from work with the cart, claiming someone had left it there (yes, they had an NES set up in her workplace) and she kinda, well, snatched it. Us young'uns, now one more game richer, started playing it right away...and hated it within five minutes. After a few weeks we began to wise up to how things worked and it eventually grew on us. And when the sequels followed, I jumped at 'em. Apparently no one ever spoke up about their missing FFI game. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. Went into a store looking for headphones, and noticed they had a game everyone had been raving about hooked up to a TV. I stayed in that shop for 45 minutes, bought the game, and forgot about the headphones.
Oh, yeah. It was FFVII. ... This topic makes it seem smutty. |

Final Fantasy II (us) appeared in the roms folder for an old SNES9x emulator on the computer in one of my high school classrooms, in which the teacher didn't care what we did during class as long as he wasn't lecturing.
I didn't finish the game then, and I wasn't too impressed by it either, but I got the game later for myself and beat it. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Honestly, I don't remember. I think I played FF Legend II for the Game Boy first. From there I got the Nintendo FF, FF II(IV), and FF III(VI). So really, I got started a long time ago. Probably 15 years ago or so.

Way back when, I was probably 5 or so, give or take it was a while ago and don't quite remember, my father, who as I have mentioned has extremely good taste in games and fantasy in general, came home with a new game for our SNES. It was FFIIUS, and in a family effort of myself and my sister, and my father helping when it got really tricky, though for the majority he just let us play, we were able to play and beat it. It was a good experience. And when FFIIIus came out a few years later we jumped right on it, not being able to wait for christmas we were given it early and ate it up, after a brief dissapointment that Cecil and Kain were nowhere to be found. We were soon cured of this.

FFIV; my friend's owned the game and I played through it on their console back in like 1990/91. From then on, RPGs "were the way".

Technically, the first FF game I played was in 6th grade (1994), when I got FF Mystic Quest for $20 from Toys R Us with a gift certificate. I beat it, thought "are all RPGs this boring?" and didn't play another one until my friend let me play Chrono Trigger a few years later. I got hooked on RPGs, and borrowed FF3us a year later, and then proceeded to eat up every FF I could find.
