So, why did you want two gold chocobos? I mean, all it really takes is raising one and breeding its no-doubt inbred parents twice, or breeding a male rank S gold chocobo...with its mother... to...*shudder* There should be a law against incesterous choco-breeding. Gold isn't a 'breed' it's a genetic mutation.

Well, you can make a gold one by mating a rank S gold choco with; Another S gold chocobo, a wongerful S chocobo,a blue S chocobo, a green S chocobo, a black S chocobo...or you could have just bred its original parents again. You know, why stop inbreeding when it's so much fun...mebbe you can make a 3 legged one.
My chocobo's family line! Two original wonderful parents> 2 chicks blue and green blue + green (brother and sister) = black black + wonderful (grandma and grandson/nephew) = gold gold + black (father/uncle and daughter/niece) = gold.2 gold + gold (I don't even know anymore) = ultimate gold Some one get me meh banjo! Meh, breeding Chocobos just takes patience. It's not like it's hard or anything.

Heh, a friend of mine tried for weeks on end to do it. I've always had luck with chocobos, and managed to do it all for him in a very short space of time. It's easy, with patience, knowledge and perhaps a smidgen of luck.

I have to experiment with Chocobo breeding so I can get a Gold Chocobo, if for nothing else, then for the Knights of the Round Materia. I completed the game (very successfully) without breeding on single Chocobo (I never even got to the Sage) my first time around, now this time, I'll tak the necessary time and steps to get me a Gold chocobo.

The only thing I hate about breeding chocobos is the reward from the Desert Rose. A gold chocobo? Like I would dare try and beat Ruby Weapon without the aid of Knights of the Round, and the other goodies you pick up from breeding chocobos. Either that or you try and beat Emerald Weapon and earn the Master Materias that way so you have one Knights to fight Ruby with. Ugh... I think I'll stick to breeding chocobos.

Yeah and what sucks about getting that Gold Chocobo from Ruby is that it pales in comparison to your own Gold Chocobo as far as racing stats go. After maxing out both of them with Sylkis Greens my original beat the top speed by about a 100(189) and its stamina is 999. I've always heard rumors of getting a white chocobo? I'm assuming that isn't true unless someone wants to prove me wrong.

You'd probably need quite a bit of genetic mutation to have that occur from inbreeding chocobos. And a ton of stillbirths and other genetic defects, in the random case that the mutations occur elsewhere. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Some animals are extremely resistant to the detrimental effects of inbreeding. And it is a fictional universe anyway.
I never cared for breeding or racing chocobos, though I can appreciate the idea of it as a side game. FF7 did a better job of it, I think, then Sonic Adventure's "Chao" mini games. Guh. Even still, I just don't have th patience or care for the whole "Tamagotchi!" genre. -------------------- And behold, I saw a Pale Gaming System, and the name of he who rode it was Squaresoft, and Enix followed him. |

The only problem I ever had was waiting long enough for them before Billy would let the newborns have sex. That and finding a wondeful bird was definately not a wondeful way to spend three hours.

Maybe chocobos are like rabbits, since they both come in multiple colors and breed incestiously. Let's see... If I put a black rabbit in with a wonderful yellow one, will I get a baby gold rabbit? Does anybody know where I can race my rabbits up to S class?
Quote The only problem I ever had was waiting long enough for them before Billy would let the newborns have sex. I wonder exactly how the game decides when there ready? Apparently just waiting on the world map doesn't work (leaving the game on overnight). Maybe there is a certian number of enemies to kill or buttons to press or possibly just waiting in a dungeon area (like the ancient forest or crashed gelinka)? |

Well, I got me a gold choco, but I never really got so deep into the breeding aspect of it. Does a mastered lure actually do anything? Make it easier to get the birds, make the birds you find better? I always did think the lil luck bonus it gave you was kinda neat though.
