Question about Tellah:
Why is his MP limited to 90? I know the gameplay reason why; I'm just wondering what justifications there are out there. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. So he couldn't cast Meteo. It's both the "gameplay" and the storyline reason.
Magic Points are like a character's mental strength to cast a spell. Tella didn't have that until his fight against Golbeze where he went beyond his mental capabilities. Casting Meteo was so tough an ordeal that his mind was unable to sustain his body afterwars. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Shouldn't you be using spoiler tags for the sake of the FF IV newbies DP? Anyway, DP listed the technical reasons why, the game couldn't have worked out the way it did if Tellah didn't have that limit. He would be over powered and certain events couldn't have taken place.
Story wise, I also think there was a discussion between the Mysidian Elder and Tellah about it. Something was said about how Tellah was in no condition to use Meteo due to his old age. (If it did occur, it would have been when you got back from Mount Ordeals.) Based on that, I guess if your body gets too frail or weak, you're ability to use magic lessens. Another possibility is that due to his amnesia, he just got rusty at using the spells, thus making his skill and abilities with magic go down. Either way, he shouldn't have tried casting Meteo . . . i liek uzing uber powurful speels liek meaty-o. tella suxs fer not beeing abul to uze meaty-o
All kidding aside, I don't think it would have been very good for gameplay if Tellah had been able to use Meteo that early in the game. You'd be able to waste an enemy boss in one fell swoop. hmm i think its more of the ideocy factor of the game, he did forget his spells and is a master of some kind.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view is also a reason but i think it a comic notion too that such a powerful sage has forgotten his most powerful spells. I really want to know why when cecil transforms is he only able to remember his spells then. The meto on gobez thing -------------------- Don't fear the reaper! I have the PS1 version and used GameShark to have unlimited HP and MP and tellah automatically kills anyone with Meteo. Pretty cool!

Story-wise, I don't think it was physically possible for Tellah to cast it. The only reason he could cast it when he did was because he was just SO angry and emotional, and sometimes your mind can push your body past its limit.
Sorry for any spoils, it's hard not to for something like this. |

I agree with trideegurl2, it's very purposeful not having the abiltity to cast meteo, then Tellah expends his life to cast it, its just good storytelling.

It's probably because of his age,but that doesn't explain how FuSoYa gets to use Meteo.I guess Lunarians have a long life span and FuSoYa's age is probably about 30 or something in human years.I usually use a Game Genie code that increases Tellah's MP to 999.That makes him useful. Also why I got annoyed when he killed hisself. But this was my fourth time through, when I finally recieved my Game Genie from Ebay.

Quote (Lockes AlterEgo @ 12th January 2005 16:39) I really want to know why when cecil transforms is he only able to remember his spells then. The light unlocked something in his mind and the memories came flooding back to him. Since the light is Klu Ya (IIRC; been a while) and he's a lunarian, their spiritual advance being enough to sway Cecil from dark to light, it's hardly surprising that it would cause Tellah to remember his spells. It does have a faint "Deus Ex Machina" smell to it though. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Tellah is so useless in the game.
![]() His spell power is so low, I'd rather have basic Rydia around at a constant level 10 than to have Tellah, that is how worthless Tellah is in the game. He is kinda useful against the 2nd Elemental boss, but if you get the twins to a high enough level, they can woop down with some serious harsh damage (especially when quake is learned) + 2 thunder claws on Yang is a very good alternate to Tellah's existence. |

Possible spoilers: highlight to view Has anyone else wondered how Tellah is able to cast Fire3, Ice3, Lit3, and Virus in his fight with Golbez? If he could cast those spells for a total of 110 MP used, you have to wonder why he didn't cast Meteo in the first place? This oversight somewhat spoiled that part of the storyline for me. -------------------- Cannis Rules: Balance of Power - My favourite Yuri's Revenge Mod |

Yes, I counted. I was wondering about virus too, although
Possible spoilers: highlight to view I figured that, just as people have said before, he was in a fit of rage, and went too far by accident. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing.
