As you can tell by my name & avatar, I'm a fan of FF villians. VII has some of the best of them. So my question to you is, who's the baddest of them all?

Personally, I have to go with Rufus. He was more cool and calculating than the rest of them, including Sephiroth, who, despite being a great villian, just wanted to destory the world (see every other FF antagonist).

Sorry to group together the turks, shina heads, and weapons, but I just ran out of room.

I dig mad scientists yo. Hojo was a real jerk too. He was always trying to help sephy along, and in general he was just an antagonist. You ought have killed him at Costa Del Sol when he was lounging aboot.

A close second would be the turks. The turks were just a badass Gestapo organization, that really didn't care about anything but money. They were great villains because they were potrayed as humans too, in that they were given real emotions and personalities and agendas other than just the side of them that wants to smite cloud and the gang.

Edit- Interesting side note- I know a kid named Palmer who's an irritating fat kid with a stupid laugh. Sometimes I can't help but think they based the FF7 guy directly off him.

Don Corneo.

He was a good villain, not strong, but what kind of villain has to be? Don always got others to fight in his sted, usually relying on monsters to do the dirty work. He always had traps to get him out of a bind. Cloud, Tifa and Aeris easily could of done him in during the dress up game, but damn that Don, the floor is removed and the 3 party members are confronted by a monster. While they fight, Don gets out of sector 6.

The Wutai incident. He was able to capture a ninja and a turk, don't tell me that's not a challenge. Not to mention he had another of his buddies to help him out when he got caught. His system would of droped one of the girls if they didn't defeat them. Now that puts pressure on our heros.

Not to mention he had an undying passion for the ladies.

As much as I would love to say Don Corneo, I've always had a liking for Tseng (not the rest of the Turks, though). He was always composed and a little vindictive at times, but not by constantly plaguing the party at every turn. His words at the Mythril Mines ("Oh, and where's Aeris? // Oh, give her my regards) and taking part in the Gold Saucer Keystone fiasco when he doesn't even say anything.

The Temple of Ancients scene between Tseng and Cloud's company was evidence that Tseng wasn't completely vile or contemptuous. He was a "bad guy" who showed his human side, and I think that makes him more of a "bad guy" than Sephiroth or anyone who is evil with no compromises.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
What's interesting is Reno letting slip that Tseng has a crush on Aeris, the person he's been pestering for god-knows-how-long.

Rufus.

The first thing he does when he becomes President of Shinra is... well... give an inauguration speech to the party. But the SECOND thing he does is have a duel with Cloud. Talk about starting out his term of office with a bang.

Second, despite the entire "let's drain Mako from the Planet to kill the Weapons" approach, he actually stood up against the Weapons rather well and was able to polish off to of them AND destroy the barrier around Sephiroth before his demise. Even Barret was impressed with him (before he was getting hauled away happy.gif) Who knows what he was planning on doing afterwards, but methinks he was somehow planning an assault on the Northern Crater.

He's just uncompromisingly badass.

Rufus, for Royal Knight's reasons, really.
Though I do like the Turks, for MM's reasoning.

I had to go with the Turks. The mystery of EXACTLY what they exist for (other than killing whomever they're told) intrigues me....Plus, I just love their music. >> <<

Despite the "I will destroy the world just because" scenario, my vote goes to Sephiroth. Masamune, black cape, deceptive and manipulating, he gets my vote. In my opinion, he was one of the coolest characters in the game, if just by appearance and backstory. I would have voted for the Turks, but they're annoying because they are just about EVERYWHERE you go. Don't get me wrong, they are cool in battle and I dig there theme music, but is it really necessary to encounter them so often?

You know, I was gonna include Don Corneo but I said to myself, "no one will ever vote for him." My bad.

I went for the Turks. The simple fact they're nothing more than secret police, torturers and thugs with a dress code gives them a nice sinister little aura in that they gain only one thing for thier actions: money, because it's just their job.

I am going to go with the Weapons just because they were ominous when I first learned of them. They were also a great deal of fun to fight against.

Same here. Also, Rufus looks and acts the coolest out of all of them.

It's a rough one between Rufus and Tseng, but I'll stick with Rufus. He was cool and calculating, had a badass shotgun, and was able to lay the smackdown on both the WEAPONs and on Heidegger's STUPID laugh. Even when Diamond returned the favor, Rufus maintained his cool.

Personalyy, Sephiroth i THE best ff 7 villian due to the fact that he actually wants to destroy the world. I mean come on, anyone can conquer the world but actually destroying it is pure evil.

I'd go for Palmer because he gets wacked by the Bronco! wacko.gif

Also President Shinra because he reminded me a bit of Mr Burns. EEXXXCELLENT!

Rufus was always calm, cool, collected and just basically cool, for lack of a better term. He went out like a g too, died in that explosion from Diamond Weapon. Took it like a man.

I agree with this comment. though i think Sephioroth is the best villan ever. which is lucky as he's meant to be, lol.

but i really really like the turks as well, they are sooo cool. but sephiroth shows how evil he is, he simply knocks off their leader without breaking a sweat, how awesome is that?

the turks are such cool characters, wish i could vote for them too!

Sephiroth has a cool name, has cool hair, and carries a huge cool sword! What more does he need? Not to mention he is diabolical and insane. cool.gif

The megalomaniacs always make the best villans. Sephy > u

BTW, the WEAPONs aren't really villans per se, they are more like the physical embodiment of the planet's will. They aren't out to kill for killing's sake, they're trying to protect the planet from the humans destroying it.
What I want to know is what they are doing until Cloud&co meet them in battle? I mean, they mantion that Shinra was fighting them while Tifa was asleep for a week, but where? None of the cities show any battle damage. And what is Ruby doing out in the desert? Chilling? Same for Emerald, he isn't doing much good going for a swim; nor is Ultimate by hanging out at that crater by Junon (which wasn't there at first... did he make it?).
