What was Zeromus' motive?
Was there any motive? Why did he possess Golbez and have him come to the moon? I never understood that. Was Golbez to come to the moon and defeat FuSoYa and then free Zeromus? |

He wanted to kill stuff dead.
But that role got taken over by Ralphie. Seriously, though, I think the game says something about Zemus not being content with just sleeping the time away as other Lunarians did as they waited for the day the earth (the 'blue planet') became as advanced as they were.--about how Zemus, instead of wanting to wait until the Earth-dwellers and the Lunarians could interact on equal standing, wanted to do something that might have ended up sounding like 'take over the Earth'. And Zeromus is simply supposed to be the incarnation of Zemus's hatred, if I recall correctly. What he hates?--I don't quite know; probably...not being able to control Earth? -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I agree. Zeromus' motive, like all good final baddies- Was Distruction. When the Lunarians initially left their home planet to come to earth, the earthlings weren't evolved. Some people, like Zemus, wanted to simply wipe out the humans and take their spots. While Others like Klu Ya, tried to hurry the humans along so they would be ready sooner. So when Zemus died- His hatred of the earthlings and not being able to get his way caused Zeromus to appear as a product of his hatred. Because he hated that much, his hatred could take tangible form. And because we aren't being redundant enough I'll say it a couple more times-
HATE HATE HATRED HATES HATE HATE HATRED. There. I think I filled my quota. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. FoSoYa tells you something to the effect that Zemus's goal was to kill all living things on earth so that the Lunarians would go back there. If I recall correctly, the Lunarians were so advanced they decided to just leave us human folk to our own vices after giving us Airships, the Serpent Trench and other technologies. I guess Zemus belived that if all the humans were gone, the other Lunarians would see no point in staying on the second moon and decide to come back to earth. As for Zeromus, Zeromus was the pure incarnation of Zemus's hatered. I think the designers thought it would make sense because Zemus was the bad guy and bad guys must have incredible amounts of hatered. Right? If you want it to have it make sense, just think that Zemus seceretly hated all humans or he hated losing to Cecil or something. Zeromus's goals were made quite clear before the final battle. To destroy everything. Kinda like Kefka but with no speach explaining why before hand. Why does pure hatered need a reason to destroy anyway? Its just hatered and hatered is evil. Yeah, FF IV didn't have the most original of plots. Enjoyable plot? Yes. Original plot? Well . . . -------------------- |

Yeah, the incarnation of Zemus' hate is suppose to symbolize the incredible power of hate I'm assuming.
Golbez was only Zemus' puppet to collect the crystals. The crystals supposedly released Zemus, right? |

Zeromus is the physical manifestation of Zemus' hatred.
Kefka says the word "hate" a dozen or so times and people take him as one of the coolest bosses ever. Zemus hates so much that the hatred itself becomes a monstrous being capable of destroying planets, and people continuously go "wtf, he had no raisin for anything." Everyone else went over most of the rest, so I won't be redundant. Quote (Tonepoet @ 23rd February 2005 01:26) Yeah, FF IV didn't have the most original of plots. Enjoyable plot? Yes. Original plot? Well . . . FFIV was the original. Just because a hundred other games take from it doesn't take that away. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

Way to go DP! Someone finally said it.... *tear.
Granted the real difference between Kefka and Zemus is light years of character develoopment versus none at all. -------------------- "That Light has bestowed upon me the greatest black magic!" |
