Anyone played this game yet?
I rented it recently and I am very impressed. I must say, as a longtime fan of Star Fox (since the SNES), its nic to see Fox back in an Arwing. Or a Wolfen. Or Landmaster. Or packing a missle launcher. The single player is short, but fun, and even the foot missions are fun. The ground missions play like Halo's, and the space battles are like nothing else. its freakin awesome. It's worth buying this baby simply for multiplayer. This game has the best multiplayer since SSB:Melee. With 16 BIG maps, the Arwing, Wolfen, and Landmaster, over 20 weapons, and like 12+ game modes, this game is rockin. I'd have to say I still prefer Star Fox (SNES) and Star Fox 64 to Assault, but it's still a fun and addictive game. I agree with everything you said, although those who don't usually take advantage of multiplayer modes may want to wait for a price drop before makin' a purchase. Not saying that's the only thing going for it, but due to the length of the story mode some people might not think it's worth the $50 price tag. Other than that lil gripe it's an excellent game.
Well, there is one thing that disappointed me a bit (contains a SF Adventures spoiler as well...sorta): Possible spoilers: highlight to view No Andross. It's refreshing to see a different villain for once after fighting the same ape at the end for three games in a row, but I liked the guy. Ah well, he's probably not gone for good. Sooner or later, he'll be back... -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. Yeah, a pirce drop would be nice. It really isnt worth it just for 5 flying missions, lol.
And regarding your spoiler, he will be. Can't keep him down forever. It's Nintendo, come on. (though Namco did this one) I was also disappointed in another way as well... Possible spoilers: highlight to view I was upset that all those characters died, then they all came back. After Peppy's speech, it is kinda ironic and dumb to bring him back. Though Wolf dying woulda sucked ass. He's my fav muliplayer character This post has been edited by Shinjutsei on 24th February 2005 04:04 -------------------- "Dance, water, dance!" -Demyx, Kingdom Hearts II "I met my love before I was born..." -AFI, 'Love Like Winter' from 'Decemberunderground' Currently Playing: Guitar Hero, Shadow of the Colossus |

Well, for a lot of characters they just said there's a very good chance their still alive. So, if there's any of them that you really want dead, there's still hope.

This game was awesome. I recently bought it, and 2/2 of my friends agree that it is the best thing since 'Jack and Jill ran up the hill', with its great graphics, and three ways to shoot up the monsters.
Just to clarify an earlier comment: whoever said Andross wasnt in SF adventures was compleytely mistaken, because at the end, it is revealed that Possible spoilers: highlight to view .andross actually is behind the incidents on Sauria anyway, the multi rocks, but it takes so freakin long to get the special weapons like the demon sniper, wolfen, Wolf himself, and the gat-gun. After trying it for a while, youre training will pay off when you can shoot youre friends out of the sky without ever being touched once!!! ![]() ![]() -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. Possible spoilers: highlight to view I didn't say Andross wasn't in SF Adventures. I mentioned him being in every previous SF game except Assault, which may have been a spoiler for those who haven't gotten to the end of SF Adventures. ![]() -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. It is a fun game, especially on the multi-player parts. The MP is as fun as Tales of Symphonia's Multi-player as well. Luckily I got my copy for
39$ at Target, because of a sale, my luck. And the flying level rock in the game. Also, if Nintendo is listening, release a Star Fox game on the GBA or DS please. |

I was going to buy Assault (I just rented it at first), but I bought TimeSplitters: Future Perfect instead. MUCH more to do.
Assualt is great, but the story mode is too weak without more flying missions. Oh well. -------------------- "Dance, water, dance!" -Demyx, Kingdom Hearts II "I met my love before I was born..." -AFI, 'Love Like Winter' from 'Decemberunderground' Currently Playing: Guitar Hero, Shadow of the Colossus |

I was sorely dissapointed. I was expecting a return to great flying levels, and couldn't believe how so very few of them there are. I mean, there are only TWO classic straightforward flying levels in the whole game. Add that to the fact that there's no diverging paths for the storyline, and that adds up to me not being a big fan of the game. The multiplayer is nice, but the single player just isn't worth it.
