I hate FFX's poison with a passion of one thousand firey hells. 32094824 damage poison just doesn't take my cake. The other games' poisons are nice and liveable though, just FFX's is evil.

any sort of Stop spell... or an effect that stops your character from movement.
Namely, though, the Stop effect in FFIX. If you're stopped, you're stopped for the battle and if everyone is stopped, it's game over.. that's just bizarre. Honorable Mention: Undead/Zombie -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

Confuse! Â Lord, I hate Confuse!
Being the type of neurotic player who just has  to level all of his characters up to insane proportions, I always like to go through the game with a feeling of invincibility.  Typically, my attacking power, defense, and HP count are all high enough to weather any kind of attack whatsoever, and give ten times more in return. Unfortunately, these notions prove fleeting when I'm faced with an enemy obsessed with Confusing all of my party members, causing them to turn their titanic powers against...themselves!  Oh, the horror. Never was this more evident than in Final Fantasy X, where my super-powered Auron cut my characters to shreds (with Break Damage Limit, to boot) when he became Confused.  So frustrating was it that I took time to Steal all those stupid items just to make him immune. EDIT: My favorite status boosters would probably be Haste in FFX and FFT, Quick in FFVI, and Protect/Shell/Reflect everywhere else. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Ehehehe...My least favorite status effect is Blood Suck from FFT because not only does it make your character confused/mind-controlled, but it can SPREAD from character to character. Once one person is infected, ABANDON ALL HOPE.

ROFL. Is Blood Suck that attack when it like makes you all red and you start Blood Sucking (sounds wrong) other people until everyone has the effect? I only had that once against, I think, Elmdor. One character got Blood Suck, then he attacked an enemy, and he got Blood Suck, and it kept going until I finally got sick of it and cured everyone. Silly thang. But the worst status effect is probably Poison or Confuse from FFX. In any other game, these are harmless. Poison hurts like being hit with a tissue, and the damage that your characters do when they're confused is only a bit higher than the tissue. However, in FFX....oh god. Poison takes like 50 kajillion HP, and Confuse makes the characters do just as much as they usually do on like...critical hits. And it's not happy when Masamune-swinging-Break-Damage-Limit-and-then-some Auron starts to turn on Look-at-me-I-have-no-defense-I-hate-my-daddy-but-now-I'm-crying-for-him-because-Auron's-about-to-slice-my-head-off Tidus. Ah yes, what hell that causes. Also, Petrify sucks, Silence sucks for some characters, and I loathe Stop/Don't Move/Don't Act. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

Eh, Blood Suck is one attack that wants me to throw the controller at the TV and smash my Playstation...ugh. Otherwise, I absolutely hate spells that can make me lose in battle if everyone has them, such as petrify or zombie. -------------------- Nine-hundred ninety-nine billion nine-hundered ninety-nine million nine-hundred ninety-nine thousand nine-hundred ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall... |

Confuse is the all time most horrible status effect in any game. I agree with Super Moogle, especially in regards to FFX because I also like to make my characters all-powerful, which isn't the case when they get confused.

Mmm. If I could extend this past just FF games, I would also select Forgetful/Amnesia from the Wild ARMs series. It's a status effect that does nothing to you except make it so you don't get experience. It's really frustrating, especially when fighting Hyulcantons in WA2, to be hit with that and then have the battle end and have your character not get any of the experience. Hyulcantons are the worst because they give such great experience.

Poison in Final Fantasy X is annoying, yes. I don't think it is even the most annoying in that game though. I find Petrify to be the most annoying in FFX even moreso under water. Losing a character for a battle with no chance of getting them back = bad.
But for the series as a whole, I would have to say either Slow or Stop. -------------------- "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle |

You might not, but I count Sneeze from FFVI as an in-battle status ailment. Haveing said that, Sneeze was definitly the most annoying for me. Your trying to level up your weak charecters by fighting Dinos, then the brachiosaur comes along and sneezes away the high level charecters, leaving Strago or someone like that to fend for themselves. On top of that what was probably most annoying was trying to beat the Chupon (however that's spelt) and being sneezed away. But, like I said, you may not consider it a real "status ailment".

there was also virus in FFIX. you couldnt get exp or ap when you were infected, and the first time, you came across it, there was no way to heal it. or at least heal more than one person, provided you stole a vaccine. but my least favorite is probably the "trouble" status effect from the same game. it was creative and different, but quite annoying nonetheless. you couldnt even safely kill whoever had it. and if you didnt have any annoyntments, forget it, it was just a frustrating trip through wherever you were. -------------------- You watch the world exploding every single night Dancing in the sun, a newborn in the light Say goodbye to gravity and say goodbye to death Hello to eternity and live for every breath Your time will come... |

Trouble, in FFIX, made it so parts of damage dealt to the Troubled character would also hit the rest of your party. For example, if a Troubled Zidane got hit, he would still take full damage, but the rest of the party would also take a fraction of the damage as well. That's why it sucked so much.

For me most annoying spells are
Zombie in FFVI (you have to use items to heal, no spells work) small stat spells like slow, poison, and dark. It makes me think too much (do i cure that stats or not? do I cure that stats or not?). Also sleep, and confuse (omg, do I hit my own character or leave him? I hope he attacks himself, what if he attacks other member or party and kills him? arg) -------------------- I will be there... |
