What do you think is the most interesting plot twist in the game?
Possible spoilers: highlight to view I think it is the scene where you find out that Dycedarg is against you. With a game with so many interesting plot twists it's hard for me to pick just one.

For me it was
Possible spoilers: highlight to view the first time you see Delita with his kingly robes on, where he kills Balmafula. Up until then I was never sure about exactly where his loyalties lay, but then I realized that he was manipulating everyone to his advantage, only relying on himself and possibly Ramza. -------------------- |

I should have written that this is a very SPOILER FILLED THREAD. Oops...
I also thought that Possible spoilers: highlight to view the battle when algus (not augus) turned against you was a very unexpected twist. -------------------- "There is not a liberal America and a conservative America - there is the United States of America. Possible spoilers: highlight to view Balmafula wasn't killed by Delita. You see her in the funeral scene with Olan at the very end of the game. I think that a lot of the major plot twists weren't even made out to be major, in a way that they weren't really emphasized. The ones listed are the dynamic, beat-'em-up kind of twists, which I think were overshadowed by a couple more discreet ones. I'd say the biggest plot twist in the game would be: Possible spoilers: highlight to view When you find out that Ovelia is a mere common girl, not the Atkaschka princess everyone thinks her to be. The situation she is placed in could spell dire consequences for Larg or Goltana if she were ever to take ascend the throne. Also, I would say this is where the guardian's love Delita had for Ovelia turned into something more than semi-infatuation. He knows that she's lived in a convent nearly all of her life, and the betrayal she becomes subject to is not unlike the kind Delita suffered at the hands of the Beoulve family. Perhaps he thinks of her as someone he needs to protect to stifle the ghosts of his sister's memory, perhaps not. I Either way, I'd say that's one of the most important cutscenes you see in the game. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the brave story only change when Ramza has knowledge of it (hence the brave story not changing because Ramza wasn't present at the time)? |

Judging by his profession and duties, Vormav appears very capable of lying, by what Vormav says in the scene, it appears very true.
Quote (Vormav) It's not a lie. You are not Ovelia. Old senators who didn't care for Princess Luveria made you, so someday you'd succeed the throne, ousting the princess. They killed two older princes making it look like illness, and adopted you as princess. They all thought Omdolia was too weak to make another son, so [you would] take the throne. However, Orinas was born. Even now, no one's sure if the Prince is really his son. Larg may have had "seeds" planted to make his sister the King's mother...In any case, the old mens' plans were ruined 1 - Omdolia is already known to be an unfit king. He didn't command his troops like most kings would, he's succeptable to sicknesses, and his troops weren't victorious in the Fifty Year War. Ruvelia eventually ends up reigning in his stead while he's stricken with the black plague (which also causes his death). To me, that's reason enough for people to want his bloodline discontinued. 2 - Ovelia is Denamunda's daughter but after the birth of Orinas, Larg began to take care of her. During the scene "Worries of Ovelia", she admits that even after she was adopted by Omdolia, she didn't leave the convent walls she had known for the longest time. Ovelia was raised as Princess Luveria as far as I can understand, and her isolation away from her heritage (besides what she's told of it) would certainly bring about a shock when told about it. 3 - The part about the two princes being killed seems true as well. Ruvelia is said to have born three sons, but two died shortly after birth. Vormav says "two older princes", but I think he was referring to the princes in the past, not age. ------ On a sidenote, when you want to reproduce a scene in the Brave Story, the summary is unbiased and tells what is really going on. On the scene "Those who use, those who get used", the summary doesn't mention that Vormav is lying in anyway. Now, that could be an omission on the part of translation (or whatever) or it could be because Vormav wasn't lying. What he says seems to make sense, so I can't see any reason to doubt his words even if he's a shady individual. ----- On the subject of the Brave Story only being developed through what Ramza does, hears, and sees himself, I would agree. For instance, when Delita tells Goltana that he should falsely accuse Queen Ruvelia of organizing Ovelia's kidnapping, the Brave Story goes along with it and doesn't set the record straight. Anyone else's views would be appreciated. This post has been edited by Shotgunnova on 19th February 2005 06:39 -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

Well iduno, the game had so many. I would say the part where Boco betrays everyone by killing you and leading the chocobos to glorious victory against both the human and demon races.
But since that never happened, Possible spoilers: highlight to view It was unexpected, and occurred before I began to expect at least 10 plot twists, no less than 3 or more than 5 of them caused by a betrayal, from every other scene. Possible spoilers: highlight to view OMG, the best twist is when Delita kills Goltana. "No one wants you to be king!" And after Delita was his most trusted soldier. You gotta give Delita credit: he is a clever bastard. Come to think of it, before, when he pays that guy to say one of Goltana's advisers was planning treachery was pretty good, too. Then Delita himself kills the "traitor" to prove to Goltana what a loyal protector he is. Too cool. This post has been edited by L.
