Teenage mutant ninja turles (first one)
Being able to switch out a low health char really came in handy, and had really good graphics for a nes game. Plus, It was one of the sidescoller platforms that had some comedy thrown it (Albeit only small parts) *turtle gets squished by steam roller* Heh heh heh.... Funny. -------------------- Link: "What is it?" Mario: "It's coin, what the hell does it look like?" Link: "Well.... What do you do with it?" Mario: "You buy lives with them." Link: ".... Tecmo Super Bowl. I've played this game more hours than any other game before or after. I have controllers where the right d-pad is permenantly pressed down because of this game.
honorable mention: River City Ransome. Thank God for the GBA remake, too. -------------------- Hip-Hop QOTW: "Yeah, where I'ma start it at, look I'ma part of that Downtown Philly where it's realer than a heart attack It wasn't really that ill until the start of crack Now it's a body caught every night on the Almanac" "Game Theory" The Roots |

For some reason I was a big fan of threes. My favorites were Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Mega Man 3, Super Mario Brothers 3, and the original Legend of Zelda. Sure, they're all huge franchises, but they rocked the hardest back then.

Kid Icarus!!! Oh man, I forgot that one! I was a greek mythology nut as a kid (I practically memorized D'Aulaire's), and that was one of my favorites. So yeah, Zelda, Castlevania III, Mega Man 3, Mario 3, and Kid Icarus.

omg, NES had some of the all-timers. Let's see..
Mario 1-3, LoZ, LoZII, Final Fantasy, TMNT (the second for me), Metroid, Kid Icarus, Castlevania--can't remember how many they had--, the whole MegaMan series before 5, Battle Toads, and Commander Wing. All great games ![]() -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? Life goes on... |

I'll go with Mega Man 6. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! I use Mastodon, where I am @[email protected] ( https://sakurajima.moe/@glennmagusharvey ) |

Super Dodge Ball rocked hard ![]() ![]() I guess it could be considered a NES game so I'm adding FFIIIj. I loved that game so much. It'll come as no big shock to anybody that it's Super Mario Bros. 3 . I mean after, I have Mario Fan written all over me and if I don't, I need to go the the tatoo parlor :-P .
Well, the reason this gets a cut above the other NES Mario games is that there's tons of varity within that little cart. SMB3 had more levels, more enemies and more powers then any other Mario game ever had before it. Also, it introduced an overworld map system that let you choose what level you wanted to go to. That was very much apreciated by this particular gamer who just happened to have problems with some levels early on. However, despite the varities you had, it didn't detract form the overall diffculty of the game. So many games I've played have so many extra things that it's amazing how easy the game becomes. (Even FF VI is guilty of that crime. If you don't belive me, try out the Moogle Charm, Genji Glove/Offering, Gem Box/Econimizer ect. ect. ect.) SMB3 however, despite the fact that it wasn't extreamly hard to begin with, didn't allow for huge amounts of player god-modding. (Even the most powerful stuff in the game was lost as soon as you were hit by an enemy or passed a level somehow.) In fact, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Super Mario Bros. 3 is my favorite game period. Even though it's not an SNES game. (Well at least not initialy, I love Super Mario All*Stars) This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 17th February 2005 04:57 -------------------- |

There are so many games on the NES I consider my favorites, like The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Contra, River City Ransom, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, all the Marios, etc., but I think it all boils down to three that I refuse to choose between: Super Mario Bros. 2, Adventures of Lolo, and Duck Tales. For some reason, most of the Disney-licensed games on the NES were pretty damn fun.

All the ones that you guys have mentioned so far are really good classic NES games.
If I had to choose one, my all time fav. NES game is Super Mario Bros. 3. One NES game that hasn't come up yet is Little Ninja Bros. It was my first RPG that I actually finished all the way through. An odd thing, but I first was introduced to classical music from this game. When you beat a certain enemy, the music it played was "Scherechade" (sp). I've been a big fan of the local Capital Public Radio's Classical station ever since. -------------------- kame, tortue, tortuga, schildkröte, tartaruga, turtle "Arthur Dent?" "Yes." Super Mario Bros. 3 is legendary, and I did wear out my cartridge after extensive playing. Combine the time spent playing that, Super Dodgeball, and DigDug and I'm fairly lucky my Nintendo didn't collapse on itself and melt.

Where have the Final Fantasy fans gone?
![]() The original Fantasy is among my faves for the NES (just listen to the old 8-bit prelude...ah, the memories), as is Castlevania III, Megaman 2, Double Dragon III, Mario Bros. 3, Duck Hunt (mainly because of that rockin' orange gun), Hockey, Double Dribble, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Totally Rad. -------------------- SPEKKIO: "GRRR...That was most embarrassing!" |

Bad Dudes. How on Earth could I forget Bad Dudes? It's cheesy and corny at the same time, and that's why it's awesome.
