I would definitley have to go with Gilgamesh. I know he may be annoying but you have to admit it was pretty noble of him to take his own life to help you in the end (besides you get plenty of chances to steal genji armor from him).

Ferris. Pirate. Nuff said. The princess part is just an added bonus.

Umm...speaking of spelling, a sidenote: I strongly prefer Butz, Lenna, Cara, Exdeath, and Guido. Well, maybe not Butz, but the others, definitely.
Anyways, here's how to figure out my vote: who can fight when no other RPG character can fight (I'm not including Breath of Fire bosses)? (If you really can't tell from this, then PM me and I'll tell you the answer.) I thought Cara was pretty good-looking from her sprite, but...meh. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I voted "other" because "none of the above" was listed... How can you have a favorite character when the game is only very loosely based on "characters" - and I mean that in a literary sense. There isn't much character development to begin with, and the fact that any character can become anything also hurts. At least in 4 and 6 the background of the character had a critical bearing on the way you used that character which is the most important way to define RPG characters (since their existence revolves around using them in battle and it's their inherent strengths and weaknesses there that we use to define them.) The fact that many of the posts have involved the way the character sprites look in each of the classes further enforces my point. With weakly built-up characters, any choice is superficial.
...Sorry to get all existential and everything, and don't get me wrong, I like the game but I've never been touched by any of the characters like I was in 4 and 6. The only way to pull off a "jack-of-all-trades" class-changing game is to have a STRONGLY developed main character (Ramza) or special characters. |

Quote Umm...speaking of spelling, a sidenote: I strongly prefer Butz, Lenna, Cara, Exdeath, and Guido. Well, maybe not Butz, but the others, definitely. Ditto, even though I rarely spell them that way anymore. A bit off-topic, but isn't Butz pronounced "Bahtz"? That's confused me for ages now. Anyhoo, I agree with Iain about how the game didn't need to focus heavily on the characters to show they had depth. Well, not a whole lotta depth, but y'know. They all have their particular quirks, at least. I sometimes like it when they're quick and to the point, and FFV is one of the few RPGs where that type of characterization works. Gilgamesh is my favorite, followed very closely by Galuf. That one-on-one fight in the Elderly Tree was just awesome, but kinda sad for obvious reasons. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. Fairs was my vote, onl;y because she is so cool. My second choice is Reina/Lenna (Japtrans version, no pirate talk by Faris).

Gilgy.
Cool theme, stylish moments, witty quips, sometimes challenging, and, at the very end, well... He was the perfect sidekick. |

Faris is most definitely the coolest. I like her as a dragoon personally. She has purple hair, is a princess, but most importantly, SHE'S A PIRATE!!!

I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon and say Gilagamesh. He was my favorite re-occuring enemy in any FF Game. (Yes, more so than ever Ultros)
Plus, his theme song was the best. ^-^ -------------------- Link: "What is it?" Mario: "It's coin, what the hell does it look like?" Link: "Well.... What do you do with it?" Mario: "You buy lives with them." Link: ".... Isn't that slavery?" ~Mario/Link crossover comic~ |

I'm stuck between Galuf and Faris. Galuf is a brave old guy with a good backstory (and he kicks ASS as a dragoon) and Faris is up there with the best FF heroines (along with Aeris and Tifa)

I'd have to say Faris is one of the coolest characters ever, if only in concept, and Galuf comes close behind with the senility routine.
But I still go with Gilgamesh as the coolest character. -------------------- I shall now return to my cave |

Faris. I honestly juist assumed all along , but that just makes her cooler. And she's a pirate. Next are Galuf (noble sacrifice r teh awesomest) and Gilgamesh, who has a really cool theme song. Also, everyone kicks ass as a dragoon, except Cara.

Well, maybe not Butz, but the others, definitely.... Indeed. Also don't forget Dragoon, MysticKnight, and Syldra vs. Lancer, Sorceror, and Hydra. But yeah, I voted for Gilgamesh for one reason: his theme music. The Big Bridge is hands-down the best track in the game. -------------------- |

Faris is my favorite character because she looks pretty cool in the Black Mage outfit as well as other outfits. When I always think about Faris and Reina finally realizing they were sisters, it always gives me a happy/sad kind of feeling

Faris. Hands down. Yea....
What other game/show/story in existence allows the beautiful combination possibility of making a pirate simultaniously into a ninja? The argument has always been Pirates vs. Ninjas. Quote I really didn't like the other characters from this game at all, they were mostly pretty dumb. i would have to agree. though i do like leilong's arguement. i voted for X-Death, even though i didn't think much of him as a villain. he did look pretty intimidating in the armor and all though. -------------------- Currently Playing : Final Fantasy V Most Recently Beat : Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Favorite Game : Final Fantasy X The newest CoNcast is up! Galufs sense of humour cracked me up, making him my favourite character... Of course the entire noble sacrifice thing was awesome! and i almost shed a few tears when.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view he returned in the end along with the rest of the original light warriors -------------------- All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Broccoli to die. |

I would have to go with Faris and/or Gilgamesh (he gets my overall vote, I guess).
Overall I find most of the FF V characters to be lacking in personality. They don't quite grab me like the characters from other FF games, especially IV and VI. -------------------- NEVER put salt in your eyes. |
