A lot of good things you can find only by poaching or using move-find item, or perhaps catch. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

In a loose order:
[1] - Deep Dungeon traps [2] - Level 90+ ninja [3] - From characters you recruit during the storyline [4] - From select maps, like Nelveska Temple [5] - From select characters you fight, like the chemist in Goland Colliery or Balk. [6] - Poaching -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I think that the Gengi Equipment that you can steal from Elmdor has a high defend rate. I've heard a lot about it but never had the chance to steal it...

Elmdor's Genji equipment is hard to steal because he has, one, Blade Grasp on, and two, a relatively high brave stat. You can increase your chances of stealing substancially by using Beowulf's "Chicken" attack or the oracle's "Foxbird" skill.
------------- [EDIT] - If you really want my advise on fighting Elmdor, I have a foolproof method of stealing his equipment. The only downside is that you need to have stolen Meliadoul's Chantage accessory during the Bervenia Free City storyline battle and you must have stripped Alma of her Barette during Chapter 3. You need two characters to do this--one female (preferably Agrias) who gets the Excalibur and Chantage; another character of any gender who gets the Vanish Mantle. The battle is simple, really. You have the female character, with say this setup: Quote (Shotgunnova) Agrias Holy Knight Excalibur Crystal Shield Barette -[Blood Suck must be prevented] Crystal Armor / Carabini Mail / Reflect Mail.....whichever you have available. Chantage Holy Sword Steal -[obligatory secondary skillset] Abandon / Blade Grasp / Whatever Defense UP Move +3 What you need in the character is to be able to take the assassins. If you switch Move +3 with Teleport, you can take both of them out with a Holy Explosion (Lightning Stab will hit Elmdor); if you don't want to use Teleport, take out one of the assassins and hope for the best next round. Ultima Demons are a considerable step-down from the skills Celia and Lede have, so don't worry about them if you can help it. Now, the second character is to do absolutely nothing. The Vanish Mantle only ensures transparency while no actions are taken place, so if you encounter a dire situation (i.e. Agrias is Blood Suck-ed), stick Sunken State on and the appropriate secondary. While Agrias kills assassins and attempts to steal, your "hidden" character stays out of the fray and hides in a corner somewhere. The Chantage's effect will bring Agrias back to life and, though she will probably die from Elmdor's Muramasas, she will be able to repeatedly steal from Elmdor for an indefinate amount of time. I chose to do this strategy with two people to cut down on wasted turns, but you can bring in extra battlers if you want. Just make sure that you guard against Blood Suck, because if you forget to guard against it with a 108 Gems, Elmdor will go after that character right off the bat. Anyway, if you're near the Limberry battles, tell me how it works out. ----------------- [EDIT] - Switched the Vanish Mantle for the Secret Clothes. Thanks laszlow. Umm... How exactly can you get the secret clothes that early? I was under the impression that they are unattainable until you can enter the Deep Dungeon.
Also, you can get Chantages and even Ribbons fairly easily before then, in the Finath River mission a few missions earlier (it's I think the mission before you Possible spoilers: highlight to view ). That mission has a chance of featuring a Uribo (one of the white teddy bear piggies) in it. If you Invite the Uribo (with Monster Talk equipped), then you can breed it to the level 2 form Porky and the level 3 form Wildbow. You can then poach your own allied Porkys and Wildbows for Chantages and Ribbons, respectively. kill Zalmo After having done that, you can set up a beast party for Genji stealing later. My strategy involves Beowulf with his Chicken Magic Sword skill learned and a 108 Gems armlet equipped, a Knight with Battle Skill mastered (I usually make this Agrias with a Ribbon and a Chantage), and a thief with all of the useful Steal abilities (I usually make this a generic female ninja with Concentrate, Chantage, and Ribbon equipped). Your other two party members are Ramza and a second charater of your choice, both of whose first priorities are eliminating Celia and Lede; probably not a bad idea to make sure there is some healing ability somewhere, I usually have Ramza know the Murasame skill and make the fifth either Mustadio or a Summoner with Fairy. So with that party assembled, you should have Beowulf use Chicken twice on Elmdor (so his pesky Blade Grasp ability is no longer a problem), have your knight Speed Break (to lower both the number of turns he receives and his resistance to Steal) and then Power and Mind Break to further weaken the bum, and finally have your thief steal and steal some more. This strategy always works great for me, I hope you find it useful. -------------------- |

I use a strategy not unlike Shotgunnova's for Elmdor. I take three people.
Agrias, with Excalibur, Ribbon, and Chantage (with steal) and a female monk, with Ribbon and Chantage (with steal) and Ramza who is to be equipped with Sunken State (monk hits him with earth slash first round and he runs away) |

Oops, I didn't mean Secret Clothes. You can get the Vanish Mantle at the top of Germinas Hill, and it has the same effect.
My bad. [EDIT] - Regarding the Uribo finding, you can get one as early as Chapter 2 at Zigolas Swamp. The monster formation won't allow one to be in there all the time, but it is possible. You can start cultivating your collection of Ribbons and Chantages as early as Chapter 3, since that's when Fur Shops become available.
