Sheik (not Zelda, just Sheik. I avoid down+b like the plague): Fast and powerful. Also, just plain kick ass.

Fox: Fast, powerful, complex, has my name.

I haven't mastered it yet, but it seems possible to use the Ice Climbers as two separate people. There have been situations where whoever grabs the main one, and I can still use the secondary one to hit them and get out of it, or the main one jumps while the other one smashes the foe.

Ah yes, I forgot about the Ice Climbers, they are like two people. Power-ups affect only one at a time and they can hold one item each. There are plenty of useful item combos to be found there. For example, two Ice Climbers with two Fans giving quickly and constantly repeated blows is absolutly destructive in one on one matches. You can rack up hundereds of percentage points in such a short amount of time, without the fear of even a single counter blow. Its just such a cheap trick though that I never use it and other combos I haven't mastered yet. For that reason and maybe a couple more, the Ice Climbers just barely stay off of my list, barely.

Anyway, I didn't know there was an "offical" rating system. Could sombody provide a link? I might not use the characters listed as prescribed (I.E. Marth is the best overall? Strange . . .) but it would be interesting to see how the pros play.

On the original I played Mario. He was definatley the most overlooked character in the game. I would own you.

Never played the Gamecube version.

There's a ratings system for pretty much every important fighting game ever made. Marth is unquestionably top tier on every SSBM rating system I've ever seen. Apparently his dominance comes from several players dominating with him so handily that the tiers were practically rewritten, with him at the top. Before this, he was somehow overlooked. I fail to see how he went unnoticed for even a short period of time; there are a lot of advantages that he has that are more or less blatantly unfair.

I've never played the Gamecube version, but back in the day I used to be able to wail with Pikachu on the 64 version. Link was cool too, but Pika was my boy.

I'll admit it's a party game, but I still have to disagree that it isn't demanding skills-wise. On the surface, it certainly doesn't appear so, because it's a game that beginners love. When you get into wave-dashing and meteor smashes (essentially obscure moves that separate the good from the great), however, the game appears to have a lot more depth.

I might be biased since I'm better at SSBM than any other fighter, but I still follow a line of logic that states that there's always someone better than you, (suggesting that skills-wise you haven't reached their level) regardless of game.

I've only played the N64 one, and I'm best with Link. Ness would probably be the second, but I mostly just use Link.

Marth- I find him best for air games, his sword is fast and everywhere.

Ganondorf- I was skeptical about him for a long time, until realized he's just so powerful you can tank most anyone else.

Mewtwo- For me, it's his Cat's Claw that really messes up slow fallers.

I'm caught up some of these guys..

Pikachu- my top battler, with speed and power on his side, you'll have few problems.
I often use Pikachu as an item clearer (I'm greedy, I do whatever I need to with the fight) I even wiped Bowser on the computer a bunch of times for speed vs slow but powerful fight.

Young Link- cool and noble fighter with a heart of gold. with his weapons and speed, you can make him a fun fighter to play around with.

Mewtwo- all of your base are belong to us.... Mewtwo is the coolest character and has some very powerful attacks that can leave the enemy helpless.

Ganondorf definitely. I stomp all over my friends (although I dont have a Gamecube) as Ganondorf. He's basically an evil Falcon.

Second, Samus. I've mastered the art of running from an opponent while dropping bombs, then turning round and energy blasting them.

Third, Zelda. Not sure why though, I guess she's just too pretty to get her ass kicked.

I'd have to say have to say eathier samus or marth i chose marth over roy cuz i'd take speed over power any day and samus just cuz u can't not like the energy ball it's like strife said nothing more satisfying then craking off and nice fully charged energy ball and just smoking someone right in the face. Cuz its funny ^-^!

I've always done the best with Marth, since I tend to go for more for the surgical hits rather than comboing someone or spamming some projectile. On the other hand, I consider myself better than average with Samus, since I tend to be able to line up shots and and aim slighlty better than the people I play.

Though, I still pretty much suck at the game, generally.

1. Link. I like his variety of moves , and his B-up move is my favorite in the game.

2. Ganondorf. Strong and great combos.

3. Marth. I wish he had a better variety of moves, but he is quick and easy to use.

Man, I quit playing Super Smash Bros. because I was sick of getting a blister in the palm of my hand from rotating the controller so many times. I do remember that I used Jigglypuff a lot, as well as Link and Samus. I wouldn't call myself "really good" though...

Any game that gives a person symptoms of what I like to call "Mario Party hand" needs to take a long break on the shelf.

Heh, I get that all the time ^-^ Still, I never give up on my games, rather I just take a break. Then repeat the whole process again ^-^

I think the big DK deserves the love and respect in the oringal smash brothers, all to often i would have 80-90% of the kos and win the match however in SSBM its all about my good man himself : Roy not only is he the king of counter(double damage, double force) but sword dance throws them off guard.... Aww how long its been since i played smash brothers. Before i found the joy of Guilty gear XX reload

I'm quite good with Yoshi. When I played with my cousins this summer, I'd constantly use the "ground-pound" attack, and it worked quite well happy.gif
Or else i'm pretty good with Link, Roy, anyone who has a sword tongue.gif

I've never played Melee, but for N64, I have MASTERED Kirby. I can dodge practically any attack, and then hit them from behind. Although, it's really cheap to use final cut on someone who's tyring to recover. shifty.gif
