Ice rod? Why not a pearl rod? thumbup.gif

Live action. That's how I picture the game in my mind, as it is. I wouldn't mind starring as Locke ... cool.gif

Actually, there aren't any similar topics now. I really haven't seen a topic like this for a while (the casting thing was the last)
I vote live action. If it were anime or cgi I'd cry. Really. This movie would be so much of a LotR like thing. There are so many great things that could be done with this, as many posts have before said but I don't care to dig them up.

I'd say CG, unless the actors were *really* exceptional in embracing the roles and looking like the characters. With CG you don't have to worry about annoying roles (like chris rock being shadow *shudder*)

Anime. It can be no other. Its the only thing i can see it as and still get a down to earth home feeling with. I would see it in a heartbeat, but unless it was done with real people i don't see american audiences going to see it.

Just to skew the polls, I think that the movie should be done in original sprite form. I doubt that anyone'd want to see it then, but I would. tongue.gif

I agree with Keith. Finding actors who would fit the roles of all the characters perfectly would be near impossible. Plus all the monsters and special effects would have to be computer animated anyway, so why not just make the whole thing CG? With CG the characters could look perfect, although it would take a large investment to make the animations and effects convincing. Also there would still be the problem of finding suitable voice actors. An FFVI movie is a daunting proposition unless it was a budget cartoon film. Overall if done right I think CG would have the most potential for recreating the story in a big way.

I believe it should be in Anime because it just fits. I mean who would want to watch a final fantasy if it is not in anime. Anime is the only choice.

Though live action would be neat to see, just to see how they translated from drawing to flesh, anime would be the most fitting. But they'd need a stellar voice cast, that's for sure.

Anime would be cool I'm sure, but I'd rather see it live action. I'd picture it looking a bit like LotR, but with better monsters.

They would have to use the moogle charm for the movie, or it would be like 50 hours long.

I voted Live Action. I agree with everyone who said it'd be a LOTR. They'd have a hard time finding someone to play Kefka though...Knowing the movie makers, they'd probably put Orlando Bloom as General Leo or Locke perhaps...And it'd be like at least 3 movies.

Me, and I'm pretty sure a sizeable portion of the modern UK audience, and probaly a vast amout of the US one. Some people don't like anime, but like Final Fantasy.

So I'd go CG. It's not the best medium, but it's more realistic and sensible.

I don't understand the connecton between Final Fantasy and anime. No FF game to my knowledge contains anime style art, and that's most certainly true with FFVI. So why would anime be so wonderful for an FFVI film? I think you would have to seriously deform the look of the characters' faces to make it work to the point where they'd hardly be recognizable.

This is the answer I'm going with. Redoing character models and animating them gets flowery; original sprites and backgrounds might not bring in the big bucks, but it would do the game justice.

That would roxors!

But seriously. I'd go with anime. They've released a few FF-based animes in the past, so why not? I wouldn't care if audiences were uninterested; it's just the way I'd want to see it. tongue.gif

DARN! I misread the question...sorry.

I thought it read 'what style do you expect them to make such a movie in', which is why I voted CG.

However, I'd really like to see FFVI in a live-action film version, possibly with accompanying novelization or as a 'remake' with the same plot ideas and relative character roles but possibly a different setting (such as the movies O (a remake of Shakespeare's Othello and Romeo+Juliet (a remake of you know what)).

If you count the cinematics in the Anthology rerelease, then, yes, there was a CG FF6. That doesn't really count though.

Anyway, if I may respond to the question at hand, I would most like to see the world of FF6 brought to life as can only be done through the miracle of puppetry; Kefka can be a sock puppet! Anime and CG are overdone as it is and, frankly, live-action filmmaking is getting rather old these days. As any fool can tell, the future lies in puppets, and if I know Square Enix, which I don't, they are always on the leading edge. I believe the FF6 movie, which will never be made, ever, would best be conveyed through puppetry.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

I have thought about this subject befor and have come up with several things. Frist off i would be no where near lord of the rings it would be its own series in its self cause of the sheer number of charectors you can get. Secondly i would have to be anime base cause CG would just ruine the style of the game and the charectors dont look all that great in CG anyways. Third they would have to cast really really good unknowns as the charectors cause quite frankly no one in the acting feild today is good enough let alone is able to act. Fourth they need to explore each charector and what they are doing while a certain group is off fighting. Fifth i think this would have to be done mainly in anime cause umaro would look to wierd in CG and so would mog, gau, terra (espically esper form), and shadow. All this being said it would kinda need to be done in the style like dragon ball on cutiez stuff like the puff and the swirlling eyes and such, it needs to be good quality anime. I also think that they would need to have certian movies dedicated to a certain group of charectors, since there are so many and no one charector has to be chose over the other all the time.

I voted anime style, it is a style that fits the entire Final Fantasy franchise very well. Not to mention that it is my favorite stylization of artistry. The one thing that would get on my nerves about it though would be that I'd be thinking "That's Cyan?" or something simmilar throughout the entire movie. Oh well, you can't win 'em all, they say.

Hey, I'm not nobody! tongue.gif I'd want to go if they made a sprite based Final Fantasy VI film. It just wouldn't be my first choice of stylization.

I said anime because I'd like it like that. I could also see it in CG because, well, that's how the PSX footage is. However, I just don't find CG movies all that appealing to look at. Not that they aren't good, there's just something disconnected or fake about them. I can't place what it is that bothers me or explain it though, and I know it's ironic that I like video games but CG movies seem odd. Like someone else mentioned, if it was live-action they'd probably use tons of computer effects, and those sort of annoy me too. And I just think anime would be cool.
