I doubt anyone'll remember, but a while back I asked for help with the FF3usME editor.

The good news is, it finally works. biggrin.gif
The bad news is...

I opened FFVI, and went to the weapon editor. I selected 'Great Sword,' and proceeded to arse about with everything and generally make it godlike.
When I was happy with my shiny new weapon, I clicked 'okay.' I then clicked 'save.' I then proceeded to close the editor and open my FFVI ROM, with a save just outside of South Figaro where the G.Sword is available for purchase.

I headed to the weapon store, but the list said 'Great Sword,' not what I had changed it to. I bought one anyway, but it was a good ol' fashioned G. Sword.

Can anyone advise me as to where I've gone wrong? Thankyou in advance.

Edit
Cheers for moving this. Don't know why I didn't put it here. blush.gif

Seems you did everything right. IIRC, Yousei's editor will fail to save correctly if the ROM is read-only, but FF3usME won't even correctly open it if it is, so it looks like you've got that covered. Just make sure it's the Ultros sprite you click, not MagiTek Terra (in which case you should check for the read-only box being cleared)

One thing that stood out, though: South Figaro's Weapon Shop sells Mithrilblades and Regalcutlasses. If this is some kind of alternate translation, I still don't see why it would fail, but it might be useful to mention regardless.

Hmmm... yes, I have a version that has Japanese names. I'll try it with a classic FFIII(us) version. Thankyou, Djibriel.

Oh, and by the way, great site. I've always meant to say that, but never had a chance. ^^

Edit
Actually... what was that about clicking an Ultros sprite? I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, sorry.

Edit
I don't know what the hell I did, but it works now. blink.gif
There is one thing, however - say I jack weapons' Bat. Pwr upt o 200 or so. I'd assume this would have me doing higher damage, but at Lv5, Terra still does 14-15 damage. I first sort of assumed there might be a damage cap owing to my level, but then, if it were 15, I'd be constantly dealing 15 as opposed to the occassional 14. I'm just guessing here. Any tips?

The physical attack damage formula relies heavily on your level; don't expect it to do major damage on lvl. 5.

FF3e and FF6j are two COMPLETELY different games in regards to how many things are stored in memory. Various reasons, such as the fact kana and kanjii are stored differently and can "contain" more text (ie, with the hepburn system, Kefka is written with 3 kana: Ke Hu Ka; and NOT Cefca like some idiots translate it every once in a while :/) thus meaning less space is required for more text, make it so that the ROM stores things at different addresses.

Your editor is probable reading from what's the correct address in FF3e, but not in FF6j, and some data isn't written in the format FF6j uses for that reason.
