You make one talking about how many members the forums have. tongue.gif

Congratulations, ramses30, you're our 1500th member!!!

Bob, tell us what he's won!

Seriously though, that's a milestone for the forums... even if you never post (not even once...), you're still a part of history, ramses30. happy.gif

1500 members. woooot. CoNgrats. Josh's invincible gamer army is growing. Soon we shall march on Mexico wink.gif.
Thats alot of people. We still have to figure though that of the 1500 only about 1/4-1/3 of them make more than 200 posts/stay around for more than 2 days.

And of the ones that do stay around, you've got a bunch of intermittent people like me, a group of "retireds" like Figaro, and a core of maybe about twenty-five people that post regularly at any given time.

But still...1500.

Bet we get 2000 by the end of the year.

That's strange, I just did a search for that member and nothing came up. Anyways, it's a great milestone, too bad I wasn't a part of it. I was just a few months off tongue.gif . Seriously tough, that is allot of people coming to "The Caves", I wonder why more of them don't go to chat? (Not to say that I'm not glad they don't because the chatroom would probably fall apart if that many people came.) Well, here's to another 1500 more and may the boards stay healthy.

Well, count me in that small portion of the population because you guys will be seeing me for a long time biggrin.gif . That is, unless I'm banned or something unsure.gif .

Awesome. Which reminds me: Didn't we do some kinda bet about members or posts or something and everyone said the date they thought it would happen? Whatever happened with that?

I remember the thread, but I don't have a clue which one it actually was... it was the thread I was reminded of when I made this one, actually... unsure.gif

Can't remember if I made a bet myself, either... :/

1500 members. blink.gif
Ya know, I bet that we'd get a LOT more members if we started covering things newer than FFT. Not that I'm complaining, since CoN covers all the FF games I own, but we'd get a lot more members.
... then again, we'd also get a lot of idiots who post in L337 and join just because it covers the games that are "in". The cool thing about doing older games is that you get the people who are actually interested in the games. Usually those people are funner to talk with too.

Edit

Well, in terms of "newer", they did start a seperate forum board and game info section for the new releases of FF I and II.... That probably attracted a few members. thumbup.gif

The danger of trying to do all the newer games is that you tend to end up like one of the poorer FFOnline clones, with some stock info tables with very little of use in them. We stick to games we really care about, that we know something about and that we have good ideas for how to present well, and what we'd want to see if we were using the site ourselves. We do have some staff who enjoy new FFs, sure, but most of us longer-standing folks came here when CoN really was "an FF6 site", so we're largely fans of the old.

And it's nice to have something of a niche appeal.

Funny thing about the member count: check the profile link for the newest member, and you'll see their ID is 2132 (at the time of this post). I'm not sure where the ID numbering has gone astray, but I'm sure we haven't deleted 630 members since the IDs were initialised with the move to Invision Board. We did use to delete inactive members with 0 posts back in the days of UBB and Ikonboard, but it wouldn't really make much difference nowadays.

Many thanks to everyone continuing to contribute to the forums (and chat) and to the former contributors who've left us behind along the way. You're (nearly) all really super. And to the lurkers out there who read but don't post, hey, thanks to you guys too for reading. Don't be afraid to step on down and post something; you're probably going to be the kind of poster we love who puts thought into their writing, since you've been scoping the place out for so long without dashing into every thread and posting "eminem r0x". But don't be afraid to just keep reading, either. Heck, it's not like I say much now anyway, but you know you love it when I do.

In summary: love to all.

1500 whoa, congrats to CoN, lets hope we'll hit over 3000. Anyways congradulations. and since CoN covers mostly old games why not add a FFII section ( I could help in a way with besitary info. as well.). Ayways great speech Tiddles.

Wow. Congratulations.

I personally don't really think CoN needs more sections. It really covers the 'classic' FFs, the ones everyone generally agrees kicked ass. And FFV. I've heard some complaints on that one. If there were to be new sections... I'd vote FFIII.

Anyway, CoNgratulations again. (That was really bad. Ouch.)

Seriously... when are Ninja smilies ever going to be necessary? You can have a confused, sad or embarrassed face, which is fair enough... but:

'How are you?'
" ph34r.gif "
"Oh. Fun."

Anyway, I got sidetracked again.

Though me, and probably alot of people I guess don't really know a lick about FF3. I would wager to say that it is the least played of the FFs. But...if you ever did wanna dabble in a 3D FF, look no further than FF7. It is going on being 8 years old now...I wouldn't exactly call that new. rolleyes.gif

I for one am proud to be 1 person out of those esteemed 1500. happy.gif

Seriously. I've been looking for a site like this for ages, and when I happened apon it, (By the most bizare of accidents) I couldn't belive my luck. A site with good information on some of my favorate games, moderated and posted on by intelligent gamers is a rare thing nowadays.

Plus when a site's been covering games that are a decade or so old for the entire time, and it's still getting hundreds of new members each year, you know it's something special.

So long live the CoN! I can't wait to see how many other new members will discover this gem of a site in 2005!
