I always make sure I save him, but the first time I played I didn't know any better and the geezer died on me. Personally there's a better cutscene when he dies, but even though it's only a game I feel a little bad if I kill the guy...

I always try to save the guy, he never ment anybody ill will. He just had some bad luck with his inventions and had little choice in his actions, just like all great scientist's do in video games. Besides he is a "Returner" and without him you would have been killed by Kefka. I have a leave no man behind policy(I redo the last part of FC if I lose Shadow or Cid). I failed miseralbly the first time I tried to save Cid but imagine my shock in the second playthrough. I had no idea Cid could be saved up untill then. I do feel sorry for him though, he has some sort of mental condition in the WOR. He always calls everybody Celes for some reason, even if she isn't there. Oh well, I like Cid, he is the second most interesting NPC in the game to me. (The surviving Doma Sentry is first.)

I like saving him to make my game more perfect. It is a pain in the whazoo though, and often annoys me to the point of near frustration....

Morals don't come into it for me. It's just a videogame. It's annoying to save him.... completely unnecessary.... and the scene you get by letting him die is better, IMHO, than the one you get if you let him live.

Well I'll be a damned m efer, I have been playing this game for 4 or 5 years now and I never knew Cid could be saved. Let me guess you can save Leo too? How does this happen... it isn't anything dumb like push right, left, up at 23:20 minutes in the game. You know how Nintendo sometimes does that, so you HAVE to either buy/steal the player's guide.

(When I say playing for 4 or 5 years i mean I atleast play it once a year)

No, unless you hack a ROM,
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
there is no way possible to get Leo back to life

I always save him, it's not his fault the worlds has ended...Wait it is. Forget that, I mean, without him then... I agree the scene is better if he's dead, but Celes is OC for that. She's a general, she should be desensitized by now. But I let him live, just like I always save Shadow.

It's depressing to see people die, so I always save him. It makes the solitary island a happier place.

Gotta feed him the really fast fish to keep him alive. The medium fish keep him stable, the slow ones worsen him, and the really slow ones do him in instantly.... There's a point system or something, it's in one of the FAQs I've seen. Check the "rare" items after you get a fish to see if it's good or not. And if no fast fish spawn, just go back in and talk to him and when you return there will be new fish. I was going to kill him in my current game because I hadn't seen that clip in a long time, but just didn't have the heart.... happy.gif

More emotional and fun to watch than letting him live, no doubt.

I always kill him. But as I've said before, by doing so I'm really saving him from living out the rest of his years alone with only one line of dialogue. It's not like anyone makes a point to go and get him, and if Gilligan's Island has taught me anything it's that unpopulated desert isles are horrible places (and no one wants to see Cid have a private luau complete with grass skirt to boost his spirits). He'd go crazy and befriend a volleyball named 'Wilson' before long.

No, the way I see it his death is a glorious thing, indeed. Also, I only ever had the patience to save him once, and that was enough.

I always save him. But I think he would be better of dead. It most be broing to stay on that little island your whole life. But on the other hand, if he gets bored he could just build another boat, right?

I save him, just because I feel bad not doing so. I just feel like my game is incomplete.

i save him because the alternate scene -IS- touching *insert pukefest here*

celes was already way too mopey and emotional for my liking, and if i dont save the geezer i have to be excrutiatingly reminded of that fact.

besides, i get to strand a geezer on a desert island...........granted that desert island is filled with elixers and megalixers, i dont think he's that bad off honestly, the squirrels kill themselves! w00t.

I love the scene when Cid dies, it's one of my favorites. Adds more tragedy to the game, and the music is awesome too! It's one of the major downfalls that doesn't exist when you save him. If I were to write a novel titled "Final Fantasy 6" I would have Cid die, because I know it would interest the reader more.

Although it's hard to save him without understanding the mechanics, i.e. without a walkthrough sad.gif

I always try to save him. Not that I have been able to actually do it, but I try as hard as I can. Okay, so he did a lot of wrong things, but I don't have the heart to let him die.

Cid... sure I try, but it takes so long, and I finally get pissed off and kill him to get on with the game. I try and try and try and try and try, but, come on, who's going to sit there for hours trying to save him? Does anybody know how many tries it takes to keep him alive? I just know that you have to feed him those fast fish...

I kill the old man off... makes a better storyline.
Honestly - I didn't know he could be saved at all through my first three playthroughs. I think I was better off not knowing. Bah, he's meant to be dead.
And if I DO save him, I make sure I never come back to the island. No point anyway.

I tried my first time through and failed, deciding at the same time that it couldn't be done. Needless to say, my friend then did it right in front of my eyes and so I didn't the next time through. Since that time I've not attempted it again, since you don't get anything from it and I personally don't like the guy.

What? I didn't even know he could be saved. I mean c'mon, he was about to die, all he had to eat was sea fish, they were on a solitary island, he was old, there was no hope and it would add drama to the story. The scene was so sad and the music was touching. Everything was perfect to make him die like hell. And he was like "wanna be my granddaughter Celes?" He must have been already losing it. Anyway thanks for tellin how to save the guy. I didn't even know how to save Shadow, too. How would i know i had to wait till the last second just to let him make it? The only thing i knew was "i have to escape" and when i finished the game when they escape and each character does sumthin, only Shadow's face appeared and i was like "huh?" Then a friend told me what happened... Shadow was one of my favorite characters!!! Now is there a way to save Leo so I can get mad enough and turn into a demon?

Can't save Leo... He's up there in the great RPG in the sky for good. Unless you have a Gameshark, then I hear you can put him in your party unnaturally, along with Kekfa too!

I unknowingly saved Cid when I did it, and saved Shadow only because it said "Gotta Wait For Shadow" when you step on the blue tile. That was in the days before FAQs (at least for me) so I was surprised the next time I played and Cid died and Shadow got his arse left. Usually RPGs are so linear that nothing major like that happens because of a choice you made, it was cool to see it happen. Though it wasn't cool to not have Shadow in the WoR...
