I believe I already posted in this topic, so I won't squander away valuable time by being redundant. I just wanted to make an argument FOR Edge. So basically, everyone here is just looking at the sheer damage he can do, at not at how to use him. If you look at it that way, you're right, Cecil is the best, followed by Kain. However, I find Kain to be EXTREMELY monotonous and cheap (jump, jump, jump, jump, jump....), and I never much cared for Cecil. I use Kain ONLY to cast White using the Pearl/Holy Lance when he gets it. Anyways, Edge is a very good character because he is self-sufficient. The Masamune (?) casts fast when used as an item in battle, and he can equip two weapons at once. So basically, he attacks 4 times per every one of the other character's turns, and there is no weapon that is 4x his attack power (although the Ragnarok and Excalibur come very, very close. However, on a normal runthrough, consulting no guides or anything, I never got the Ragnarok, so Edge is still ahead). If you want to argue that haste won't give you twice as many turns as the others, granted Edge is naturally fast, then I'll make it three. It still makes Edge a very handy character to have on hand, and is far from the worst you get. I mean, seriously, you would rather have Edward with you during the final battle than Edge? I'd hope not.

heh, I liked Edward. He seemed one of the most human of the whole group.

I guess there's no one I didn't like, though there were some I just didn't care about. Mainly the kids. I don't like kids. But I gotta give them credit for their actions. Hmmm...

Edge was a jerk though...

What hacked me off, were the death scenes that turned out to not be death scenes at all. Its great that most of the cast survived but seriously, things like

Getting blasted out of a sky-high tower by a huge explosion.

and

Getting blown up by strapping enough bombs to your body to take out a whole ship.

really aren't things you can believably recover from, Pheonix Downs and Auto-Life not withstanding. I mean, there's only so much even an RPG hero can take. Course, RPG heroes can survive direcet hits from Flare and Meteo... hmmm...

I say the kids. Cuz I don't like children. Yeah. That's it.

hahaha, so true about the fake deaths. Reminds me of "Candide"-- the characters in that just WOULD NOT DIE!!! But for some reason I find that really amusing when that happens, especially when the storyline is already over-dramatic and the fake deaths happen to about 50% of the cast. The more unbelievable it is and the more rediculous the explanation, the more hilariously awesome it is. That was one thing I liked about FF4 and Candide...

I couldn't stand the whole namingway people. Their little hum hums. Howeve, I love Fat Chocobo and Leviathan and Mist Dragon (from which my name came from) ^_~

i like everybody and thats my vote.

i think its too easy to just vote for edward as the least favorable char...i agree that he is a wimp but he is required for tellah to beat him up or else there would be no punchbag for him also he is a major help later on too using his twin harp.

as for edge, heck, i like him most, no reasion to vote against him, he is the only one who can fight with 2 swords and looks cool... can smoke you through the final dungeon and throw excalibur and other incredible swords on the final boss for max damage! beeing arrogant is quite entertaining and refreshing too. honestly his attempts of beeing arrogant are ridiculous.

tellah is a great character too......while i hate all the old chars in that game cause they suck in stats and their max mp is usally extremely low even if you increase their levels - he is still a great char for story telling reasions. i won't tell more cause that would spoil him.

Tellah, and I'm sure you know why. :)

I voted Kain. I believe I've made it clear why in other threads.

Kain is by far the character I hate most. A lot of you call Edward a whiney pussy, but hes nothing compared to Kain. Kain just cries about how he wants Rosa and hes so weak that he gets controlled, goo hoo, shut the hell up you pussy, I was really hoping towards the end that he turned again so I could kill him as he promised on the big whale. Some of you seem to be going by ablilities in battle, Kain is the most useless once you get him back near the end. As for Tellah having low mp, it was a good thing, could you imagine having every spell except meteo available for use after mount ordeals until he leaves? As it is he is oeverpowered, he can fry the hell out of the water fiend.
