Hi,
could anyone explain to me how the Chocobo Betting works?
What do the turning-over cards mean, and how does the game decide whether I win the bet or not?

Basically, you can choose up to three pairs of racers, and you win if one of the combinations you chose correspond to the first and second of the race. Say you chose the card "1-6", "1-5" and "6-5". You will win if the first two racers to finish the race are racers number 1 and 6, or racers number 1 and 5, or racers number 5 and 6.

At the beggining of the race, three symbols are displayed, and to each correspond a treasure (usually two crappy and one good). If you win (that is you correctly guessed which racers finished first and second), the cards are flipped, and you get the treasure corresponding to the symbol revealed. Afterwards, you are asked if you want to get you prize, or exchange it for GP (if you choose to get the GP, you'll be told how much it is worth, but you'll still be able to get the item if you want. Always do that to chekc which if the two options is the best).

Finally, if you ever se joe riding a black chocobo, always bet on him, because he never lose. Period. Well, the only time he can lose is when you race against him with your personnal chocobo, but that's another story.

Also, to get better classes to bet on, you need to raise your own chocobo and raise its class. You can get the A class by being a B class, but you need an S-Class Chocobo to get to bet on the S Class.

Also, when raising Chocobos it is best to feed them one green at a time when you're feeding them to build stats. If you're patient enough then you will have a much better bird in the end.

Looking at the racers' stats, how do you figure the odds of each bird winning?

Er... when a bird has the highest speed and the highest stamina, it is mosl likely to win smile.gif It's more of a guessing play, usually.

Actually, I've found that the bird with the highest stamina and highest speed doesn't typically win (they usually lose, really...) unless the gap is huge (like in C class when there's a twenty point difference), so that suggests that you have to take into account the riders, too.

It's just a big guessing game, just choosing which birds are the fastest and look most likely to win.
