I assume you are talking about real life and not in game.

This is a no brainer. I'd be resurrecting people all day long. Actually 3 at a time, if you use the game rules for Phoenix. Lets see thats 3 per hour. 24 hours in a day. Thats 72 people resurrected from the dead every day. WOOHOO. We should have every genius and scientist who has died in the last 200 years back with us by next Tuesday.

problem: the dead outnumber the living about 30:1. plenty of people to ressurect. but what with overcrowding as it is now, doing that... thumbdown.gif

You can't revive everybody with it. Detah's example of the game rules aren't perfect. He is forgetting about Rachel Phoenix couldn't even revive her and she only died about 5-6 of years before at the most. Sure it was broken but why do you think Locke didn't use it on her twice? It fixed itself by then.
All of the espers can only be used in battle. Once you use Bahamut (My favorite summon of all time.) you would have to wait another hour to use him again. You could be dead by then and the same goes for all other attack Espers. Golem, if anybody picked a fight with me, lasts the entire battle. Maybe because of the once per hour rule he would only be there for an hour. Even if that were the case, I could cast him again by then. Either way, he is the only one I could use and not be left undefended. Also he gaurds against any physical strike. That means I couldn't be hit by any sort of Martial Arts, Swords, Knives any other blade, and even guns. Okay, there were no guns in FF6 but there were in Tactics and he blocked bullets in that game. I would be invincible. However I would only want him if he was already dead or gave me his power willingly like Ifrit. After all I am not like Kefka or Ghestal, I have a heart. In FFVI you could only use dead espers, so that is why I am mentioning that.
Edit
Scratch that it is worth a new post. At least it looks like it.

Illogical and irrelevant.
You need to be alive to use any Esper!

I wasn't just talking to you Detah. There seems to be allot of people here that think Phoenix can bring the caster IE themselves back to life. That clearly isn't the case. And you didn't give an argument of why Phoenix can bring anybody else back from 200 years ago either. Anybody can see why you would need to explain that if they read my spoiler above. If Phoenix did bring people back to life from more then a day ago, I would have chosen that. In the game there isn't even any proof that it can bring people back to life who have been dead for 24 hours.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
At least not for more then a few minutes and what good is that?
The reason I said "you could be dead by then" for attack espers is somebody would kill you. Either a millitary force, an assasin, a theif or somebody else. If you can only the attack Espers once per hour you can't defend yourself with them. That is why I didn't chose Bahamut, my favorite. Golem is one of the few espers with a lasting effect and thus can defend you according to this polls rules. That is why I voted for him in this poll. I don't drink coffe by the way, I prefer tea with sugar and milk.
Edit
Fixed grammer.

Edit
Sorry if this post seems rude, that was not my intent blush.gif . I do not doubt you know what the espers do in battle. You would know more about that then I do. I was talking about story elements that make Phoenix seem unusable in real life. Can we to bring this to PM? I don't have anything revevent to say on this topic as a whole anymore.

I do not know why anyone would believe that Phoenix can bring one's self back to life. Perhaps they are confusing this with some other FF or the Life 3 spell. In any case, I know precisely what Phoenix does and how all of the Espers work. I know you are still new to this forum; nonetheless you should give people the benefit of the doubt before accusing them of ignorance of some aspect of the game.

It should have tipped you off that I knew what Phoenix did when I stated that 3 party members could benefit from the Phoenix at one time. Hence, I already took into account the fact that the summoner was not affected.

In the future, I will not explain my answers in such detail. I expect a modicum of intellect by the reader.

Honsetly who better to pick then the Dragon King himself. Seriously no ones done more high flying, Mega Flaring, super attack combos than this bad boy. Not to Mention he's been in almost every if not all of the Final Fantasy games. thumbup.gif Bahamut is not only old school but he can still kick the crap out of any of those new school summons like Yojimbo.

I just like Ramuh, cause I love lightning, and his attack his pretty good. In my game, my characters learn Bolt moves before anything else, Sabin being the first one to learn anything at all. Besides, in the early game, with Terra knowing Fire and Celes knowing Ice moves, so a Bolt user fills up the empty space.

Many people seem to ignore Ifrit. While Shiva could keep your food refrigerated in a warehouse you could use Ifrit (with a much less intense degree of fire of course) to make a sauna! Also you could use him for your own grill or whatnot.

I would choose Phoenix if I could learn Life3, but since the rule of this poll doesn't allow spell-learning, I'll choose Tritoch. Versatility rocks!

My favorite Esper is Ragnarok because it teaches you the best spell in the game, Ultima, or it's the best sword in the game! Plus, Ultima is so powerful it still does alot of damage to opponents with no weakness. An additional pro is if you equip the

FFIVDS looks awesome, right? Especially the character scans. I mean, look at that CGI scan of Yang. You see it and you just think...badass. And then you look at his polka-dot pants, likely stolen from a Dr. Seuss book. And then you just...shiver.

i would go with Alexandr, since he is the Holy Judgement type esper in the game, which is awesome, plus he is giagantic and machine-like. (i especially like the version in FF9 with the awesome huge angel wings).

odin would come in close second, since his zantetsuken is unstopable (ok, not quite) and he's dark and strong.
