Are there any Optional Bosses in FFVI like Omega or Ultima? I really want to know because I need a challenge. Every boss was easy to beat so I need something stronger!

Presenter and Atma are completely optional (where the latter is actually completely useless) and all the WoR bosses except for Phunbaba # 1 and 2, Dullahan, Tentacles, Guardian, Inferno, Doom, Poltrgeist, Goddess and the final battle are optional as you can complete the game ignoring them.

I think he meant not so much 'optional' but 'super-difficult-non-storyarc' bosses.
Which FF6 is definitely lacking, unless you purposely underlevel yourself and storm in unprepared, but that's not really the point. There's no Shinryu or Omega in this game, too bad, really. -------------------- Visions of Peace - Four Generals, One Empire, and the Returners caught in the middle. |

If you decide not to do the quests for the characters in the WoR, get certain characters, or fight any of the dragons then yes. But they are worth your time in the end.

I'd consider the magimaster (and the entire freaking tower itself) to be an optional super-hard area with very little in the way of reward and a tough fight at the end... provided that you don't use the moogle charm and don't rasp the magimaster to death with everyone wearing wall rings.

Well, did you defeat the Pugs in Umaro's Cave? Boss music plays during the fight and the more steps you take the stronger their step mine gets. The three of them all together were hard. All eight dragons are optional and Dirt Dragon can be a pain without CherubDown or Gaia Gear (I hate 50 Gs it makes casting float pointless). MagiMaster is near impossible without a non-elemental spell, life 3 and no wall rings. MagiMaster is almost impossible, if you don't use Life 3, Rasp or Osmose, because he casts Ultima at the end of the battle. While not a boss Brachosaurs can cast Ultima(Rarely). Intangir is in the WOB and can be difficult to defeat, without a instant death attack. He isn't realy a boss either but for that time he has a ton of HP. Finding a way to make an uncontrolled character defeat Chupon in the Colleseum seems to be impossible. But if you mean ultra hard battles under any circumstance nope, none that I remember. Try going through the game in the mid 30's without Ultima or Osmose. Maybe you will get the challenge you were looking for.
Sorry if any of this information is inacuate. I havn't been to the World of Ruin in a long time. Edit Thank you, I just fixed it MogMaster. I never got past level 38 by the end of any of my games. Didn't used the musle belt either because I only got it in the final dungeon. I personaly never survied MagiMaster's Ultima though, just rasped around it. I haven't gotten the super cheap 128% MBlock either. I just didn't know about the evasion bug untill I came to "the caves" keith. I don't know how it works exactly. Optional bosses include Curley, Moe, and Larry (I think thats what he is called) and Wrexsoul, you find them

Quote (Tonepoet @ 8th November 2004 11:25) MagiMaster is impossible if you don't use Life 3, Rasp or Osmose because he casts Ultima at the end of the battle. Not true. It is possible to just have a guy with really high HP amounts. In my youth when i didn't read things or pay attention i didn't know the use or purpose of life 3 so i just flared the magimaster to dust and had Mog live it out with the Muscle Belt. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. There always is Hidon, the Presenter,Atma in Kekfka's Tower (You really don't necessarily HAVE to fight him),the eight dragons, and Czar Dragon in the japanese version.Oh,and for the Magi-Master,I had all my characters at L.99 and had them use Ultima.

Well if you're leveled up pretty well (level 50+) then no boss is going to be a challenge unless you've put together the worst possible group of characters. That's just the way it is in FFVI. Leveling past 50 is pretty pointless unless you're curious as to how easy Kefka can be.

One site shall clear this all up.
C.E.S Celes, Edger, Setzer I'll explain, when you get to the World Of Ruin, you start out with just Celes, correct? Now, you travel directly to the place where you find Gerad. After fighting that tentacle boss(and other bosses, if any, along the way), head right to Kolinghen to get Setzer. Now, just level up, yatta yatta(read the web page), and fight your main man. Of course, it's possible because you need three groups, and you have three people. Although it would be quite the challenge to complete this because those instant doom spells. |

actually it didnt matter if you had the muscle belt if that character was a sole survivor, if you didnt have at least two people in your party alive the spell counted as concentrated instead of dispursed and did 9,999 damage.
although as an option to life 3 you can make creative use of palidor you keep scanning magimaster and wait till he is really low on life, you then summon palidor, as long as you kill magimaster before the last character comes down they will stay in the air while he does the ultima at the end of his life, really cheesy. no amount of magic dodge works on ultima, not even 128%, terra always has that magic dodge on my file, and ultima hits all the time, its simply one of those "no miss" magic attacks, these include ultima meteor and i think merton, not that it matters, terra and mog in my file absorb fire, and they are the only two party members in the party if i can help it. edit: oh and one more cheesy trick, put a beserk ring on any of your majorly physical fighters and take them to the magic tower.......pwnage and an actuall use for the beserk ring..........gasp This post has been edited by mooglemadness on 8th December 2004 06:01 |

what has been bothering me is the fact they never put in CzarDragon, it didnt make sense, he was very possible to kill, but provided a little challenge...
