Quote I can to this day still remember exactly the sound of Dart's voice naming each of his additions. "Burniiiiinnnng RUSH Vol-cano! -- I loved the Addition system. It took a long time to up the power percentages, but I had no problem with fighting things for a long time. Obtaining new ones was sort of hard though; I only got Lavitz' third or fourth one before the square-pushing was too hard. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I have spent quite some time on LoD, 100 hours or so. Even though I haven't played it ages, I can still hear those voices...I remember them so well it scares me...
"Spinning Cane!" "Dark Blade!" "Final Burst!" "Star Children!" And so on. -------------------- I'm a general, not some opera floozy! *insert humourous observation here* |

I remember playing this game a while back....I thought it was kinda slow paced and the story didn't really hold my interest as much as I would have liked, but as far as gameplay went, I absolutely loved it. The additions system was great, and I loved using Meru, because one of her additions (I don't remember which one. >.<) ended with her falling flat on her ass....and I always remember thinking that it was completely hilarious. XD Anyways, I liked the gameplay greatly, only prob (and the reason I never beat the game before I sold it) was that right at the end of disc 3/beginning of Disc 4 (don't really remember which) right after it was revealed that
Possible spoilers: highlight to view my memory card formatted itself. ; ; and like I said, things just moved way too slow in that game (to me anyways) for me to get real motivated to play it all again, so I ended up just asking a friend who had beaten it to summarize the 4th disc for me so I could get the rest of the info of what was going on. One laaaaaaast thing. My FAVORITE thing about the game was the team dragoon transformations lol. I loved the colourful swirling backgrounds that it brought on lol. made me feel kinda trippy. XD Rose is the Black Monster and Shana is the Moon Child, or whatever it was that she was called |

okay im the only one who thought the game was really bad? i mean come on the battles took forever. The combo moves were "okay" but made some charters good and others really sad. i never made it past the first disc i got the green summon and just rolled my eyes gave it back to my freind and said gg.....

The Addition system actually makes battles a work out for damage instead of the usual, old hack-and-slash from predecessors, and that's why I like it. The whole game makes it hard for anyone to power-level and accumulate funds until they can just blow everything away.
I mean, you can buy the Legend Casque early on, but that'll take forever with the measly amount of cash you get. Later on it becomes possible and so does the Armor of Legend, but you get my point. 10000 G is a lot of money, man. -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

the fmvs were da bomb for a ps game, better so than most of the others, i loved the last campaign too, the winglies and dragoon's fighting were awesome. btw, lavitz and albert were the worse aspect of the game, their combo's were so erratic that it made me stop using him after i got the chance, besides that, i give it a 4.5 out of 5

Quote (third_knight_of_the_round @ 3rd May 2005 09:02) there missing alot of great games in here who all has played this one Ummm... I'm not certain what you're trying to say there, but I have played LoD, in fact I'm pretty sure we've had this discussion before. For the most part it was a fun game, timed hits were incorporated decently but got old after awhile, the characters and dungeons were well-designed, and the fairly epic plot was engrossing and entertaing for the most part, but I don't believe it should belong in the pantheon of the greatest RPGs ever. Why? Because everything about it was long and overdone. A four-disc story that dragged on occasion, random battles taking ages to finish thanks to those timed hits, a dragoon magic system that was really annoying in both its poor design and forty-five second-plus-long animations. It was supposed to be SCEA's answer to FF's wild popularity in the US, but it didn't exactly fly. But is it a worthy addition to one's PS1 library, despite its flaws? Certainly, especially if you're in to RPGs. -------------------- |

There was a discussion before, but it has been closed.
Anyway, the game was fairly fun. However, it became quite annoying to play when half the battles are spent watching animations. Normal battles were too easy, and boss battles took me several tries. -------------------- This is my world: (Got my second chapter up, 3rd Chapter about 80% complete) http://www3.sympatico.ca/daniel876/homepage.html |

I enjoyed this game's story and animatics. The system was somewhat unique and the overall play was fun. I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10 stars.

Quote (Spoony Bard) I loved the colourful swirling backgrounds that it brought on lol. made me feel kinda trippy. XD Amen to that! I bought the game from Vintage Stock for about 8 bucks one day. I traded in my copy of Pokemon, if I remember correctly, while it was still popular, so I was able to get it and FF9... A little off topic, I know, But for 8 bucks, it was worth it. As with everyone else, I couldn't stand the voice actors. They annoyed the heck outta me. In most games, I love the music and the actors, and turn the volume up so much my brother bangs his fist on the wall. But for Dragoon, I couldn't stand it. It ruined the background tracks. Otherwise I liked it. But for 8 bucks, I couldn't not like it. I'm just glad I didn't spend more then 8, because I might have felt a little ripped off. -------------------- I'm your boss, kupo! |

Its funny this should be brought up, as I just started playing LoD a few days ago...
I never finished it when I got it three years ago. I got to the phantom ship (disc two) then quit. I was playing this game a lot this summer starting from an old save file I have on disc 3. I mostly just ran around leveling up my prefered party of Dart, Haschel, and Meru, trying to max out additions and dragoons. I was on disc 4, trying to beat the
Possible spoilers: highlight to view sidequest, but I then stopped to try to play Final Fantasy VIII over again to see if it I still hated it...but then I bough Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, and I'm caught up in that still. dead dragoons I thought LoD was a great game, a little slow, but great. |

I tried out this game and guess what? I did not enjoy the game one bit. I found it completely boring and the music was horrible. I also remember that the graphics were trying to imitate FFVII after it came out.. I did not even enjoy the world map. It was F***** stupid as hell and you could only move if there were "yellow stuff" on the map.. Ridiculously horrid.

For an imitation, the graphics are sure above FF7's--you'll notice that the people actually have a definitive shape as opposed to a "something" made out choppy, constricted polygons. The video sequences in both games were great, though, so I wouldn't really stack one over the other.
World map...yeah, that was a problem, but not because of "running on yellow dots." As you play through the discs, returning to previous cities means reloading the disc it was featured on, so that makes backtracking fairly tedious. Can't believe you didn't like the music, though. =/ -------------------- It's gonna be a glorious day I feel my luck can change |

I liked the game, although I've still yet to beat a few bits of it...hehe.
And the voice acting? Not the worst 'ever'. Anyone who's played Resident Evil would agree... "Chriiiiiiis!" -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

i recently took a second look at it. and i will say the gameplay aint bad. moves at a pretty good pace(althought leveling up takes a little too long) i had a problem with the dialog. many times the people will make a staement and then explain it without lkeaving anything for the player to read in to.(did that make sense?)
