Relm and Strago just because I never used them much, nothing less and nothing more. Never anything personal. :-/

Relm, and then Locke, and then Celes, and then Mog.
Both of them weren't really that useful anyways. I figured out how to use Gau's rages, and I put Blitz, Magic, and Fight or Item onto Gogo. Cyan's SwdTechs were too slow but he was an interesting character. Runic was (for me) a rather useless skill. Locke didn't have a special attacking skill either. I actually found more use for Strago than Umaro, and Umaro than Relm. For me, Umaro was a way to have a really powerful attacker on my team, and Strago was my second-most-powerful mage (after Terra). -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I've never been real fond of Celes. Mainly just because she seemed witchy alot and I always felt she took the limelight from Terra.
But in terms of uselessness it would be a toss up between Umaro and Relm. |

Well thats obvious
Strago and Relm. Why? Well Sketch and Blue Magic were some of the most tedious skills to use. Now I could say Gau but he was a funny character. Relm and Strago are only useful for providing the missing link for Shadow's past. Other than that not much use. |

I never liked Relm, she had that "I don't care what you tell me, I'm gonna do it anyway" attitude, and it really bugged me... and of course there was that stupid Kefka's Tower glitch
Now for Strago, I LOVE blue magic, I don' t know why, I've always thought it was one of the coolest abilities. But for some reason I never got into using Strago... I almost always use him on the floating continent for the use of the heal rod, and cause Blowfish is good at that point in the game, but in the WoR, I never seem to use him... I also rarely use Gau even though he's cool, tried using him one time through, but the combination of how rarely some things apprear on the veldt and the fact that you get no experiance made me crazy... and I just don't like how he can't "Fight" Edit update on the Strago thing, slapped a gem box and an economizer on him and now he's kicking butts and takin' names, so strike him from the least favorite list This post has been edited by Generic Fighter #382 on 8th November 2003 16:52 -------------------- Club Sandwiches. All I have to say is that I've never been a fan of Gau. It has nothing really to do with the battles, that guy just pisses me off. He's all annoying and when he's with Sabin and whoever else, I think Cyan, he made me lose like 50,000 gold. From then on I attacked him in battle. To make sure he was dead.
And then as I was reading the opinions of some of you guys, I realized that we're dissing the creative genius of Squaresoft and one of the greatest games in the world. But hey, Gau is an idiot, and that slight imperfection prevents Square (Or should I say "Square Enix") from conquering the world-leader position from Microsoft and McDonald's. You can thank me later for wasting this full minute of your life. -------------------- "Being someone you're not is a waste of the person you are." ~Kurt Cobain Find the hidden link. No, don't argue. You know, Gau is really useful if you use his rages right, and I personally find Gau to be a very humorous character that you end up empathizing with at certain points in the game. He has high hopes, and isn't weighed down by various circumstances of life that have encountered a number of other heroes (e.g. Locke's Rachel, Setzer's Daryl, Cyan's family, etc.).
By the way, how did he make you lose 50000 GP? I can't think of a way to do that. And Square will always be Square to me. Or Squaresoft. But never Square-Enix (Enix sounds too much like the name of my annoying psychology teacher in high school). But maybe if they took the "Enix" off they might be able to make great games like they used to... -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I can't believe no one has stated the obvious: Setzer. His stats are thoroughly mediocre, he can't use swords, and slot and GP rain are pretty weak except for early on. Granted, his coat is cool. Also, Cyan is pretty aggrevating, since you have to hold everyone else back a turn for him to do a worthwhile attack.
As for Relm, she's the shit! Near as I can tell, she's got the highest magic stats in the game. Plus she gets the goofy armor like behemoth and moogle suits. |

Well you lose it while looking for the diving helmet under the serpent trench.
Setzer's slot being weak?! I used it all the way into the end of the game, it was always a fun and useful skill to me. Personally the whole GP Rain thing sucked however, I was a fan of the weapons he used, like the fixed dice and the doom darts. -------------------- At times one remains faithful to a cause only because its opponents do not cease to be insipid. Everyone who is dissing Gau as their least favorite I can totally understand. However, as for usefulness ... his ability to equip the snow muffler and his cat scratch Rage make him very useful. He can do max damage and gets hit for 1 damage from a Brachosaur doing swing. Who can argue with that? Rolling max damage and taking 1 HP of damage makes him pretty useful in my parties ... Also, Umaro is a great character for anyone who dissed him. His lack of control plays particularly well with his character ... he's the abomnible snowman for Pete's sake ... how could you control him? LoL Well, my personally least favorite is Relm .. however she is the best magic user in the game, I completely can't stand her stupid paint brush and I hate the fact that she said "Fuddy Duddy" to her grandpa ... it makes me sick.

As a battle character, i hate Relm. shes nigh-on useless.
and as a 'story' character too. shes just the token brat. but other than that, i dislike Gau. he just annoys me for some reason... -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

Setzer's Fixed Dice is really cool, though it's hard for Setzer to get past the 3-diamond and 3-chocobo slots. But I noticed that the game seems to make the third slot non-random...
I think I missed the scene where Sabin loses 500 GP because I went straight to the "shiny thing". But Gau can equip the Snow Muffler? What does that do? As for his rages, I personally like the healing rages, such as Dahling and Nohrabbit. And Behemoth Suits are actually really darn good armor. I personally don't use Relm much, but I do use Strago, and that armor makes him real strong. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. My least favorite character has to be either Celes or Edgar.
Celes because Maranda is her hometown (I think) and she burns it to the ground and can kill Cid and if she commited suicide the game would have been over. Edgar can't leave town without flirting with every girl, and even 11 year olds. Like that little girl in Figaro, AND he even considers flirting with Relm. -------------------- Could you repeat that? |

Gau can also try to lose Sabin 500 GP on that first cliff just left of the entrance, only Cyan saves the day by reminding him he was holding onto the money. Yay for Cyan! But I still hate him. In battle, that is. His Swordtechs take forever to fill up, as we know, but I never thought he was all that powerful either, at least not for a samurai. However, that hatred doesn't compare to how much I loathe Relm, both as a character and a 'fighter'.
I always liked how Umaro can throw characters at enemies; it's always funny to see him pick up Terra or someone and hurl them at a Tyranosaur. I only use him for kicks though, not because I trust him to fight any important battles without MY input. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. lets see i never really use terra never had a need for her really, celes is okay i dont use here that often, i use strego cause i think he is more powerful with magic than terra. mog is good i use him mostly for the moogle charm,i havnt used gau much befor this file. always have shadow and locke on my team when i can i like both of there skills. umaro i like cause his raw muscle is good and i like the concept behind him although he never fares well out side of narshe. sabin it reall all depends on what i am doing, same with cyan. realm i hardly ever use cause i dont like her sketch ablity it seems really weak to me. edgar use only when i need a little more muscle on my team cuase his tools rock.gogo i use when i need some one who has = magic as my best magic user(useally locke), setzer i havent really used that much but i am trying cause i want to see 777 and joker doom i have seen every other one but those two*wishes i could see a movie of them* did i leave anyone out?

The nice thing about the game though, is how well balanced it is. There are no four perfect characters to use for your team, its all preference. There is also no certain group of useless people.

Umaro.
Character wise no one in 6 really bothered me, so I have to go with battle skill. I have this 'thing' about totally berserk characters. They annoy me... ALL other characters I could take with a pincha' salt. Terra: Great magic user at start, a good level of attack, a nice boost in Esper form later. Locke: Sneak Ring + Thief Glove makes Locke my chief mugger. I'm a fan of the steal skill in games. Edgar: Tools. Simple. Sabin: As long as you learned the button combos, he was solid. Celes: Runic could often be a life saver. Shadow: Throw was good with a nice bitta' stock, plus Interceptor saved a few hits. Cyan: Even his weakest tech was a pretty heavy hitter. Gau: Stray Cat = God. Speed boosts are where it's at. Setzer: Not too hot, but he could sit in the back row and act as a healer or basic attacker. Mog: I wasn't too up with his Dance, I'd usually pair him with a spear and Dragoon Boots. Strago: An exellent magic attacker if all the right stats are boosted with Esper bonuses. Relm: Control is the skill of the devil. Everyone loves the devil. Gogo: Yey! Everyone in a handy-dandy gypsy bag. Umero: PLEH! Can't equip items, can't equip an Esper for stat boosts, can't be controlled. He's just...there. -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |
