I think it's just a smart tactical move.

I don't think they would have put something like that in if they didn't expect it to be used... just like casting healing spells on undead things to cause damage to them. They even included it in FF7... in the end of that cave in Red XIII's scenario, if you use an x-potion or phoenix down on the boss, he's done.

Just like I said with Wrexsoul, its cheap not cheating. If you want to enjoy the game, more fully fight them. Its the same with going through the game kind of slowly, or rushing and beating the game in 3 hours. What would you enjoy more? Its the journy not the destination that makes things worth it.

It's cheap and in a way you are ending combat before it really begins, but it is also perfectly valid, being a staple of the FF series for some time. You always have the option of not using the life spell/item. Undead are usually weak to holy and fire, so it's not like there aren't other options. Even so, there's nothing wrong with going either way, but if you go through the game again, it can be a nice challenge to try defeating them the regular way.

If it was cheating, it wouldn't be in the game or would't it?

Unless you really like short battles, it could be cheating, but as an earlier post stated, you always have the option of using a different tactic vs the undead.
Me: i usually forget healing the undead hurts them, so i end up making those battles super-longated! man is it fun though... ![]() -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. It's cheap but not cheating. Future FF games fix it by not allowing such wins so I assume it was a 'Do'h!' situation for the game makers.
![]() I, personally, don't use this tactic. I just feel I'm missing out on a good battle... -------------------- The Arcana are the means by which ALL is revealed. |

A big part of the game for me is enjoying the boss battles, and I don't understand why some of you use cheap tactics to get through the game. Anyone care to explain? Arn't the battles part of the fun? I think doing anything to skip an experience of the game is cheating. There's a reason bosses exist.

That is so correct. Why spoil the fun of an (perhaps) intense battle with lame tricks. Always fight with honour:D

Hehehe. It seems ironic for someone with a ninja assassin as their avatar to say 'fight with honour' don't you think? ^^

Yes it is cheating...I only use it whenever I want to...
But I mostly use it if my party is starting to die. |

I don't consider it cheating. It may be a little cheap, but it's their weakness and they happen to be extremely susceptible to it.

It's only cheating if your party isn't strong enough to beat it without using the items. I try not to use this "skill" because it reduces the fun of the game. I do howver use it on the zombie version of Evrae in FFX, annoying how if it turns one of your characters into stone, they are gone for the rest of the battle.

I think there should have been another option (for people like me, and I think there would be others from reading the posts)...

The phantom train is pretty easy so there is no need for the cheap tactic really.

I dunno. It is an instant kill, just like Vanish/Doom. It all depends on how you want to play the game. But, since I'm horribly against instant kills, I consider it cheating. The Phantom Train died after two rounds anyway...
